  1. It's kind of hard to believe anyone is going to buy the mass production version given the astronomical MSRP of these toys.
  2. Designed by T-Rex, should be good. Also seems like a completely separate release which makes sense, a gift-set would be like $550 by current Arcadia pricing.
  3. Yeah, I was home once working on my house with the garage door open and the postal lady left the "Sorry we missed you" tag in my mailbox. I grabbed the mail right after she left and then caught her a few houses down. Crazy. On garbage days if the garbage trucks leave the garbage too close to my mailbox so that she can't just drive up and not get out, she'll get out of her car and blockade my driveway with the garbage bins. Not her specific (possibly) but on another occasion where I legitimately wasn't home she left the "sorry I missed you" note and the pick-up location written on it was 45 minutes to an hour plus with traffic from my house despite the fact it was a small package and there's probably about a dozen post offices closer. I have no idea what that was all about but I just went online and scheduled redelivery for the weekend.
  4. This is approaching Macross7 levels of ridiculous.

Yeah, I totally agree, I have no idea what they were thinking when they decided to green light the GBP toys if they couldn't think of a way to get them down to around $39.99. They also completely shot themselves in the foot. They just released Rick/Roy as part of the most recent wave.. now they're selling them again with GBP. So, they are potentially cannibalizing their own sales. There was a huge gap in 1/100 releases. They should have released a V2 and addressed the obvious issues with the original toys and maybe let the price creep up to $29.99 (as it appears they did anyway). Oh well, they're on a collision course with the Hi-Metal line now and I think we all know who will most likely come out on top.

I think the Toynami 1/100 line was meant to be a response to all the Robotech fans who complained that $79.99 for a masterpiece toy was WAY too expensive and they wanted toys that were more equivalently priced to transformers. There was a pretty loud contingent of Robotech fans demanding for toys with toy prices, not collectible prices. That's why I think Toynami went after the $20 price tag and made all the concessions they did make. Importing the Hi-Metals would have put them right back at $79.99 so not quite what they were going for.
  7. OOh sorry, you didn't get the memo, you're not allowed to cover Max's VF-1J with anything... it's to rare and not meant too be concealed further.

Nope, it's not mis-transformed, if you peg in the arms to the legs the backpack sits at an angle up. They basically should have thinned the backpack down to compensate for this or thinned the arms. Bandai made the arms and backpack thinner which then enabled them to peg the backpack into the legs and really lock things down tight in fighter mode.
  9. I'm gonna hope this makes it to a Black Friday sale....
  10. I mentioned this in the Hi-Metal thread but it more appropriately belongs here, my review of the Toynami VF-1J+GBP is now posted on the web. It has a very Decepticon livery with very dark purple trim.

You mean like crappy records? I don't know about bad Vinyl but they were glued together in a couple places and the glue did become unseated easily. It was generally just a matter of re-gluing. Not like the actual broken stuff of anything else Toynami manufactured.
  13. No almost about it... that picture looks like a model that has been glued together... not a transformable toy. Maybe that's what it is, and early prototype that they glued together and painted for promo pics.
  14. For those of you in the SF bay area this weekend, CAX 2015 is happening in Santa Clara. It's always cool for pinball and arcade playing on people's private collections.
  15. I think it'd be pretty easy to come up with an explanation for why on the Advance they wouldn't need all the sensors and would instead opt for veniers there... so no biggy.
  16. They charged $14 each for vinyl gashapon. I suspect these will not be less.
  17. I'm guessing you care so little about these (and I don't blame you) that you haven't really looked at them much. Painting something black isn't so unique that anyone else who paints a toy black ripped it off. I mean, do we all grouse about Yamato ripping off ehobby? Besides, Toynami made their first stealth (which is actually so navy blue it looks black) back in 2009 so they didn't wait for Yamato to die. As far as the urban camo goes, Toynami hasn't done anything that compares to that. All they've done is changed the doors and forearms on a standard GBP to match the trim of the valks. Focker is yellow so he gets yellow doors and forearms. Hikaru was red, Max gets blue. It's kind of surprising no one else did this a long time ago really.
  18. I'm working on a review of the Stealth GBP right now. It bumped the Bandai VF-19Adv and Arcadia YF-19! Well... mostly because those reviews are going to take me a really long time in comparison since they're so much more deluxe than a 1/100 toy.
  19. Yeah, someone gave me this game, I looked at the sprues, laughed, and put it away likely to never be seen again. I'm not a modeler and have zero desire to waste that much of my life prepping to play a board game. Bring on the Android version!
  20. Whichever ones they want! It's good to be the sponsor.
  21. so you can see the leaks.
  22. I actually prefer the Bandai canard angle.... is that wrong?
  23. I checked, 1993 was the year so I guess I wasn't so little. Hard to believe it only ran for one season... I feel like watching it before X files was a long tradition.
  24. Correct! 1) DX VF-1. 2) Hi Metal EVERYTHING.
