It's a repaint of the original yf19, no where near the standards of the later vf19 toys or Arcadia.

Do we know if these will come with missile parts or do we think that would be a separate release or Tamashi website exclusive?

Happy surprise, apparently I had 3000 CDJapan points lying around so I just scored this much cheaper than expected. Yippee... and to bed I go.

Man, I never use amiami so I waited for more sites to pop up with it... but nothing yet

For those looking for links (looks like the hobbylink link is broken but it's been on amiami for a while...)

I remember being in KayBee (i think that was the name) toy stores in my local mall and they would have Transformers gift-sets on the wall behind the counter. I bet they were discounted ridiculously cheap at some point. That store would also have Robotech toys in bins marked down to almost nothing... I used to look at those and wish they had VF-1 toys. Ah, thanks for the stroll down memory lane.- 17086 replies

What Mechamaniac is also correct though. The Frontier toys largely are meant to be the same size in universe and Bandai largely accomplished this. Yamato was building toys that have varying sizes in universe but Yamato's application of "1/60" is inconsistent in battroid (not sure in fighter, I haven't looked in a while... maybe I should do an info graphic at some point). I would say that both companies are 'close enough' and that people really shouldn't sweat the variations, especially since nearly all of these toys have things like the ankle joints which can let you tweak to your desired scale if not, perhaps, at the expense of the ideal look.

Robotech people, he's referring to the Robotech film. -
More or less... The VF-25/27/29 are built on the same initial design so it makes sense they're all the same height. The VF-171 is a hair taller. Does anyone know the VF-19Advance specs? Is the height unchanged from the YF-19? If so the VF-19Advance is 1/65 scale in battroid (The Arcadia is 1/67). The difference between Arcadia and the Bandai is entirely in the ankles though so it's conceivable you can bring the Arcadia ankles down further to get them to be the same size or possibly even have the Arcadia taller... if not bizarre looking.

I'll say I'm let down they didn't change more but I agree with the post above, they had a good product before but bargain bin Yamatos flooded the market so it wasn't a good time to compete.

Maybe the triangle is also represented by a little two against one action. Maybe two fleets that don't get along very well bonding together against one common threat.- 2715 replies

Your post is contradictory in regards to the DX line and Bandai as a whole. Ultimately I think Bandai would tell you that the dx line is for collectors and will continue to grow while the HMR line is meant to be a fun toy at a lower price point (something between a budget offering and a premium dx line).

Sure, but this statue has the head in the right place so it's pick your poison. How do I get one of these? I can think of lots of reasons why I need a small metal battroid.
-
Ohhh, yeah, the chunky monkeys definitely yellowed. I'll have my Hi-Metal out for comparisons when my HMR gets here. Curious to see if it yellowed. Someone also mentioned cracking GERWALK joints so I'll look into that.

Wouldn't it make sense that something that doesn't transform would have better proportions in the one mode it's in? Not sure what would make that funny? I'm assuming it's plastic coated to look metal at the given price? Do we know what it says?
-
This is the first I've heard of Bandai products having a tendency to yellow more than Yamato products. Which toys have been affected by this?
-
We could do that... but that means you're going by a Japanese pronunciation of a Romanized acronym that I believed was backed into as a contraction of two English words (although I'm not sure that last part is true but someone always says the original basis was "motor speeder").

If you use the stands with the peg slots you could put a Hi-Metal VF-1 on each slot for 6 total with ease... it might make for some pretty cool squadron flying at some point.
