The HMR may have the benefit of being a partsformer so it's not too surprising. If it's perfect transformation than yeah, that's pretty impressive.
-
That's how it's supposed to be.

No one is trying to imply Arcadia has NO Macross licenses. They'll still have a niche of some sort and it looks like they have zero locked up. Stuff like musical instruments and giant guns, resin kits, etc are probably still on the table. Hypothetically, I really wonder if the V2s couldn't be sold as assembly models? I mean, Arcadia was complaining about their factory? Why not skip half the work and sell us the V2s painted but unassembled. I'd be down with that.
-
LOL, again, if the rumor is true, it wasn't the rumor that created the situation... My guess is that lots of people are now spreading the 'rumor' because of the Tamashii Nations show. Bandai is clearly making a big push for Macross so it's not hard to conclude that they're pushing other companies out. Guys, there's a bright side here (assuming this is true). There's going to be lots of V2s available cheap some day... when the V3 is available either from Bandai or Arcadia in several years. When that happens you can either complete your V2 collection or make sure not to miss any V3s.

Not really related to Hi-Metal toys...

What sank Yamato could easily be a thread unto itself although a bit of a macabre one. I would vote the VF-17 valks, the destroids, and anything "gnu-dou". As I recall, they also claimed the MacZero line was a bust but that might have just been the SV-51 toys which is ironic since that's where Arcadia is playing these days but it seems Arcadia has figured out the pricing and the demand that seems to exist no matter what even if it costs them pretty much all the variable demand. Lolicon, are the feet pointing inward?
-
I am 100% convinced that Yamato was planning on doing that. They were going to do the in-universe-video game exclusives.
-
You need to go re-read that thread. I made fun of someone who came into the thread asking why everyone was so happy. I teased that person by making it seem like they were demanding anger... you're taking the words I jokingly put in their mouth and putting them in mine.
-
The whole post had to be a joke as he also used my quote chiding negative people to insinuate that I want negativity.
-
Ha, out of context! That comment was teasing those being negative.

I actually would love to get Arcadia M&Ms... I just don't think it's going to happen

Your wish is that Arcadia has the SDF Macross license for 1/60 toys. They're not going to tell you so you need a time frame. If you haven't seen a toy announcement in x months, you will believe they lost the license. Solve for x and let me know. For the record, I'd love to be wrong and will honor a number you give me provided it's reasonable and you also don't insist they DO have the license.
-
So wishful thinking that we should all accept until when?
-
It depends. You can pay for exclusivity, you can pay less for specificity (ie. I want to make a Mac+ YF19 vs I want to make toys for Mac+). I have no idea how BW goes at it. I'm sure BW tries to keep things somewhat equitable while trying to maximize profit.

My theory is supported by current evidence, yours is based on... hope?
-
Not in the HMR line and not a YF19. It'd have to be a new mold so hopefully improved.
-
Dx frontier stuff is 1/60, only models are in 1/72.

C'mon, that there is grade A speculation. Arcadia is taking their time because the factory is having issues? They did the craziest paint scheme yet in that factory. I heard all products under the old license had to be announced by last year end making the GBP Arcadia's last cash in on a license that technically belonged to a bankrupt company. The story goes that everything then went out for bid. So after that, nobody knows who has what. All we can go by are the announcements and those seem to indicate Bandai went on a spending spree. If you need proof Bandai had a lot more going on, check the other threads. It doesn't prove Arcadia didn't get any sort of license for SDF macross but if you were Bandai wouldn't you try to box out the competition? It seems like if I can't say Arcadia lost the license then others shouldn't spread rumors and speculation that they didn't right?
-
I keep repeating it because I believe it to be true... but I keep also stating it's just my belief. I'm not really convinced any one is harmed by it. The after market reflects pricing that shows a company that went under and a second company that has not produced many toys... this rumor should theoretically LOWER after market prices because it indicates that another company might start making a new generation of toys. Who wants to be stuck with the old stuff when something new could be in the pipeline? I get where you're coming from, speculation can be annoying, but like I said, we're dealing with an industry that isn't open so speculation and rumor is going to happen. I'm sorry my speculation has rubbed you the wrong way, I'll try to be a bit less vocal about it for a while.
-
So no, even if Arcadia never produces another 1/60 VF-1, I never get to state it again? You can see where that seems a bit silly to me right? Throw out a time frame I can work with here...
-
Not twice the size, that would be 1/24. What 1/72 line are you referring to?
-
Yeah... pretty sure I can't affect prices and sadly I've sold off all my V2s except the ones I'm planning on keeping for comparisons to future generations of toys and some very low value CFs. Is there a trade show coming up where Arcadia would be announcing more product? They're not going to tell you explicitly they lost the license just like toy companies never tell you when something becomes vaporware. Is there a time frame at which it becomes okay for me to voice my opinion again?
