  1. Another option is to wait and hope Bandai makes the yf19, they might include wing weapons and maybe they'll listen to the feedback and change the leg fast packs to tab in. If you're quick you might also save a bundle getting in on a pre-order.

I'm super stoked, now that I'm finally done my YF-19/VF-19Advance reviews I can spend some quality time playing with Hi-Metals.
  3. There are so many different strengths and weaknesses between the toys that I would just sum it up like this: If the Arcadia toy was flawlessly executed, I would have a hard time arguing that one of these toys is BETTER than the other as they do different things right. Since the Arcadia toy isn't flawlessly executed due to the various fit issues, it's easy for me to advise people to get the Bandai if they have to choose just one. The fact the Arcadia needs to balance on its own ankles due to the looseness is a bit too obvious a flaw to overlook.
  4. Alright, video review is now up and so are the final couple pictures I was working on. Check it out on anymoon.com

Yeah, I think they just need to figure out on their end how to turn off the pay later option for Tamashii items or someone goofed. I suspect they never meant for us to have the ability OR they will keep it this way and just make us pay when Bandai bills them a few weeks later going forward. Either way, lesson learned.
  6. Those are the Robot Spirit releases, I might do a fighter mode escort with the HMRs soon but the scale would be off since the HMRs are like 1/90 and the VB6 is like 1/120.

NY announced a long time ago that they'd require upfront payment on Tamashii items, I was shocked I had the option not to pay when I ordered mine. Maybe they haven't figured out how to fix it on their site.

So there you go, they do consider the Hikaru VF-1J GBP TV version to be a different toy. That's why the pilot figure is so bizarre on the first release though it doesn't explain some color choices. I'm really curious to see what will win... it's nice that, other than the Hikaru VF-1J GBP, all those other toys are more on the obscure side.
  9. No, it's not that, it looks like the front of the legs are right with the Gerwalk joint being down one but the back is wrong with the legs being straight and the leg armor pegging into the top tab rather than the bottom.
  10. Better late than never! I still have a couple pictures and a video review to add to my post but the article is now live on anymoon.
  11. I think the Yeti base is great though by way of its heft, I highly recommend the base for those in the market but I have purchased a dx starter kit and look forward to testing it.

LOL, the pics are awesome... not sure we needed them immediately quoted though .
  13. Sadly I haven't gotten to it. I think they're 1\24 scale and they were sold in two variants. I need to get a second one so my review video can contain a duel.
  14. Can you be more specific? What toys do you think are the wrong size? I'm happy to validate. I have been getting better at doing this as part of my review process but there are plenty I haven't gotten to yet. Here's an example: http://anymoon.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Arcadia-YF-19-23.jpg
  15. Awesome, your site is an amazing reference.
  16. They are 1/60 scale with exception of the monster because math, regardless of it not being specified on the box.
  17. I got my box but haven't even had a chance to open them yet... probably won't until after the holidays.
  18. I dunno, it's a 5 year old toy now and it did pretty poorly upon release before becoming a holy grail item. With Arcadia doing a brand new Garland I would think that if they go back to the Patlabor well they'd do it with a new version. I still would love to see Arcadia make a 1/24 universe and give us some 1/24 Votoms toys too...
  19. Remember that the HM line failed the first time around because competition was abundant. The HMs sold, a bit, but most people were like "I could spend $10 more and get a Yamato V2 so.... I'll do that." It's obviously very different today. I'm curious to see how far they'll go with the line and I don't think Miria is super high on their to-do list, but we know she's at least on their list and that the HMRs seem to be off to a good start from a sales perspective.

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

I was a huge proponent of a 1/72 scale of toys for a long time but like you said, Yamato's allegiance to 1/60 and then Bandai's using that scale for their Frontier toys pretty much ruled it out. What I liked about 1/72 is it made more of the universe available in toy form while still allowing all the gimmicks of the 1/60 toys though that meant 1/72 toys would probably cost just about the same as 1/60 toys. If someone were to do 1/72 toys now they'd almost certainly be much MORE than most the 1/60 toys we purchased or waited to go on sale so that would heighten the laments about the price of smaller toys. In that regard, though it doesn't do anything to unite the modeling and toy universes, the HMR line makes a lot of sense to me. Take out some frills, shrink the toys to make more of the universe plausible, and since they're smaller with fewer frills, they can be priced well below 1/60 toys to help reduce the comparisons/complaints. Maybe Arcadia can go that route 5 years from now when Bandai grows tired of Macross again. Yes, but they abandoned the scale quickly because, at the time, 1/72 was too small for a decent VF-1 toy... and even then we got the V1 1/60s <shudder>

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

They wouldn't bother doing a sneaky move to 1/55 because they don't advertise the scale on the DX toys. It just so happens they're 1/60 toys but in reality 1/60 covers a range of scales from 1/55 to 1/65. So, at the end of the day, they'd just say DX and if it ran a little bigger than the Yamato toys it wouldn't be so much bigger that people the vast majority of people would care.

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

If I had to bet, I think this and the 1/1800 SDF-1 will never see the light of day. I wouldn't be surprised though if it goes like the Yamato 1/2000 SDF-1 where they say "That's just too damn much toy" and then make smaller toys with slightly less frills. Maybe that's just wishful thinking that we'll get a 1/60 DX VF-1 though instead of this 1/35 beast... though getting both would certainly be wonderful.
