    Hi-Metal R

Wow, looks smaller than I expected next to that Focker toy.
  2. Is he even employed by HG any more? I figured when they got rid of the forums his job would be the first to go. Maybe they were able to just drop him to part-time or call him a paid intern.
  3. I think I'm putting too much stock into it because its come up in a few of the conversations i've had with others about the film (never in a complimentary way). Those conversations haven't been with huge Star Wars diehards because when a film makes as much as SW, it needs to satisfy casual enthusiasts. For my part, I don't believe they're just going to leave it unsaid (and apparently it's fine with several people here if they do). They could use Yoda as a template. Luke could say that he left when he realized he wasn't the one that was supposed to defeat Snoke and that he knew he had to leave so he could be the person who teaches 'the one' to beat Snoke. That would be very Yoda-like, especially if we learn that Snoke did do battle with Luke and survived (like Yoda did with Palpatine).
  4. None of that I would disagree. I just feel the hurdle here is bigger for the writers to clear and if they don't provide sufficient color in 8 Luke may be viewed with less regard rather than more. As it is, he seems fairly derelict even if we can sympathize with his reasons.
  5. Did you just pull the 'if you don't agree with me you're not a true fan' card? I'm discussing 8 because I'm curious how they'll develop the characters, including Luke, who has an unfortunate set up that may make him seem less heroic. Not having the gumption to kill his nephew is fine, but doing NOTHING is a bit much. It's not like 7 shows what happened so there's plenty of room for 8 to take the narrative in lots of directions. Edit: You are an all powerful super warrior who has created a dojo to train super warriors of the future... but for right now they're mostly just children. These kids will defend the Republic and all that is good. One day, you come home from the market and find all of them killed by a pervasive evil and realize your nephew is to blame. You may or may not also have a dead wife. Do you: A) grab your sword and kill the evil child B) since he is your blood, try to reason with him but, failing that, recruit someone else to bring him to justice C) grab your Walkman and say, "I need some me time" and leave
  6. Yeah, sorry, still not enough, it might work in a book series but not on the big screen. In a book we could spend a few chapters knowing his misery and conflict, in a movie he would seem like a mopey coward and you'd expect society to hate him. If there are Sith running around wiping out the new Jedi farm there is a hurdle to overcome with Luke running away. If you don't think so that's fine. Other thing, does the First Order want to know where Luke is or does Snoke just want to know where the first Jedi temple is?
  7. Is 'force blocking' an established thing? Would that be like killing someone's mudichlorians? Or maybe you just noodle with their brain making them forget their training? I'm on board for that turn of events. It works well with the concept of an awakening.
  8. Yeah, it's kind of like they asked Kevin Smith what he thought would be fun to do with that character.
  9. If civilization depended on me I'd like to think I wouldn't run away. .. not sure how your argument works. Long story short 'awww but it's his nephew!' Isn't enough. Especially if his nephew killed his students and maybe other family AND was clearly capable of doing more harm with the back drop of an imperial resurgence.
  10. No one said it was complex, it's just shitty. He's been crying on an island for 30 years while his nephew does as he pleases? Sounds like a real compelling hero.
  11. If they have it in Stock and you're in the 10 day service window.
  12. I just finished Season 2 (thanks to a day home from work sick). I had watched the first few episodes months ago but wasn't too keen on it with the whole hybrid aspect and the body snatchers to open the season. The inept romances and guilt have some charm though and they have a good balance of battles/action and teenage drama. I thought Season 1 was a little too 'by the books', Season 2 felt less derivative to me.
  13. Did they? I haven't watched it more than once... but the problem with that is it's incredibly douchey. He learns there's a bad guy, and he has some responsibility for it, and he leaves?
  14. I really wonder how they're going to come up for a story with Luke walking away that doesn't make him seem like he abandoned everyone. I heard a rumor that he got to a point he was unable to control his own force abilities so he isolated himself to protect everyone. I guess that might still work out if he started a new Jedi Academy but then ditched all the kids because he was afraid of hurting them only to have Snope come along and eradicate all of the cadets except Kylo who he kept as a pet.
  15. A replacement landing gear might make for some extensive surgery to fix. Speaking of fixing... my leg fix video for VF-0 toys is uploading now.
  16. Ugh you're still hung up on my calling you out for douchey buying practices huh? Well, I appreciate you pointing out how rational I am as part of your effort to prove... something. Maybe you should read what I wrote about Macross and think about how you could apply it to the discussion of Star Wars. Instead of rabidly denouncing anyone and everyone who supports the film, maybe you should accept there are other opinions beyond your own and stop repeating your old and tired "it sucks and you're dumb if you don't think so!" nonsense and move on with your life.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Going off memory, I felt, like mine worked without them but it was better with them.
  18. Well the Avatar sequels are on indefinite hiatus so he might have some free time. I would gamble that the Terminator franchise is dead until at least 2020 at which point we might get a full-fledged reboot in the horror vain of the first film.

Well I think we at least all agree that the DX VF-31 thread is no longer the place for such diversions. Also, I think you need an edit in your bit about the moon... I would suggest you go with "what color is the sun" but that's a joke because in the West it's orange or yellow and in the East it's red. Any who, I think everyone reading these opinions needs to infer a few more "in my opinion"s into what people write and don't try to sway people's opinions or disagree with them. Now that we know Bandai will be showing off the mini mecha collection Delta models at Winter Wonderfest, do we presume there will be no DX talk there? I thought Bandai didn't do toys at Wonderfest and instead saved those reveals for Tamashii Nations events.
  20. I doubt you have to worry about the wings. I did notice that if you close the wings entirely they ride up the bottom of the leg and warp (not permanently but for the moment). It looks like you're supposed to only close them so far as to hit the slope up in the leg.

The pillars gets back to the 'varying degrees' bit. Music is, without a doubt, a pillar of Macross. Singers in the thick of the fight is not a pillar of Macross though Macross7 definitely did it (but even they were housed in mechs). So this does seem like a more extreme example of Macross7 which was already a very divisive show among Macross fans. Hey, you can be a fan of Macross in varying degrees though too. You can love all Macross, you can love most Macross, or you can even just love Macross mechanical designs and think most the shows are rubbish. All are valid. I think I sit in the 'most' of Macross category and I love the mechanical designs and can't wait for the release of the toys (though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little let down to hear another 'meh' VF-171 is going to kick things off. I can't wait to get some Drakens and VF-31s. Does any of that Japanese text specify a date? In the other thread it says these are tiny kits, not DX toys.

To use your sports analogy, of all the fans I know of any sports team, all of them quite often acknowledge when the team has a bad game, or has a player not living up to potential, etc. They still support the home team but it's not like they turn a blind eye to all of its flaws. You can be a fan of a sports team and not like the defensive coordinator (ask any Green Bay Packers fan). You can be a fan of Macross and not like when it goes over-the-top with the dance numbers. If you were a fan who thought Macross was leaning too hard on the singing and dancing, Delta's throwing the girls into the actual fire fight is obviously going to be a huge turn-off. To say you think that was a 'step too far' doesn't make you not a Macross fan, it just means you're a Macross fan that likes some aspects more than others and that's OKAY. You can love Macross and hate Macross7 because of how silly it got. That's fine, Mac7 just didn't focus on the aspects you did like about Macross (and anyone who claims 7 captures the feel of SDF Macross is ignoring the fact it deliberately tried to be different). I'm sure there are lots of girl fans that like Macross despite of its often times relying on silly robots fighting in space. That's okay too.
