The thing that is throwing it off the most is the angle of the nose but the primary problem is how it all converts to soldier mode. The Toynami is really good in soldier mode, this toy looks pretty terrible in that mode. The head is low, the landing gear too small, and basically it looks like it's trying really hard to compete with a toy from 10 years ago instead of today's toys.

They're just having fun and, on that day, ultra obscure seemed the most fun.

That seems very fishy.I'm guessing it was a glitch, not stock suddenly reappearing.

Got it, thanks! Thanks so much everybody! You'll see these pics as part of the larger Montage soon.

Thanks guys. No huge rush. Cell phone camera should be fine if you can get the angle pretty straight on. I can do some tweaks in photoshop if there are any minor issues. Since there were so many releases each release will appear pretty small in the final pic.

OOh, how much parts-forming is involved? Like HMR VF-1 levels of parts-forming?

I'm working on updating my Yamato V2 review with content from Arcadia's most recent release and was hoping to do a picture similar to this one I just did for the 1/48s: Unfortunately, I'm having a deuce of a time finding good pictures of some of the boxes. The ones that are proving the most troublesome for me are: 1) VF-1A Assembly kit 2) VF-1J Hikaru weathering edition (I can fake this one pretty easily) 3) VF-1D Assembly kit 4) Original VF-1S Assembly kit (the one without option parts) The picture has to be straight on like the ones above. I am hoping to find an image that is at least 400x400. If anyone can help me out you can attach it to a PM or email me at micronian_ace@anymoon.com. Thanks!

Massive improvement over ET.

I think on both, maybe just the Toynami, if you got one built just right and you focused on it, you could achieve a tiny bit of clearance.

This happened to my TV Roy VF-1S also.. I haven't bothered trying to fix it yet.

The proportions ARE way off. They should have just bought the Moscato model and figured out how to make it a toy...

Let me rephrase, How do I get one?

I just can't get excited for what looks like a bigger CM's Legioss.

Looks like they did a better job with the hinges on the backpack and got the legs to a better position in fighter.

That's what seems crazy to me. They're probably going to reissue the DYRL vf1a toys and maybe do the TV 1A toys so there is no way they're doing that blue-red GBP scheme. Those Delta schemes are an easy tie in so they have a good likelihood I'd guess, though low on my list. I'm concerned no Phalanx was shown considering it plays a primary role in the scene they referenced. They should include Phalanx parts with other releases.

I've been watching Dougram for the first time, inspired by this release. I prefer Votoms but it's still quite watchable to me.
-
Totally agree. I've been handling lots of V2 toys lately and the HMR mechanism is 100x better and simpler. Due to the scale they may pop off sometimes but no big deal.
-
I wonder if the blue and red one is just there to convince people to modify the mass production type. There's no way it's getting made.
-
The signs say "display only" meaning they're just teases of what's possible right?
-
I think there may be a cottage industry of oddball bonus parts in 1/100 in another year.

Ooh I got another one, same as the TV cannon fodder. My VF-1A TV Max Jenius is clearly a reissue (clear canopy and revised crotch mechanism). Anyone know when that reissue happened? Just trying to get my list more complete.. I don't want everyone thinking that every Max 1A TV toy is an early version when that's not true.

I need help updating my Yamato V2 table. In July 2009 Yamato released their TV Version VF-1A Mass Production toy. This toy apparently had the rainbow canopy and the early style crotch lock mechanism. Pictures on Hobby Search Japan seem to confirm this. I own two of these toys, neither have rainbow canopies nor the old style crotch lock mechanism. This makes me think there must have been a reissue at some point after these problematic issues were corrected. Can anyone help quantify when this reissue happened? I think the official MW release schedule will also need to be updated as that was the original basis for my list. This post indicates it must have happened before August 2011... but when?
