The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
jenius replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Can anyone recommend a good transformers series of toys for like 5 year olds? The Rescue Bots are a bit too simple for my boy but I don't know enough about the other series to choose something that he wouldn't be making me transform for him. I think he needs something about as sophisticated as the old chunky monkeys... though I know they don't make anything so rugged any more.- 17093 replies

There's a separate thread for the dispute but the short answer is that HG hasn't contributed in any meaningful ways to the creators of Macross, HG's legal claims are questionable, and the perception is that HG hasn't been honest or acted in good faith when dealing with the Japanese companies.

Macross Δ BD/DVD Thread (now with delicious English subs).
jenius replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
So I figure before I start reviewing Delta toys I should watch the series and familiarize myself with the mecha a bit more. Any word on the most efficient/cost effective way of getting the whole series? I see there are knock-off DVDs on eBay but I'd like to do something more legit but I'd also not like to open the vault for something that seemed to be flatly rejected by this board.- 183 replies

Wow, if I didn't have so many toys I didn't already have time for, I'd be all over that Hi-Spec Olson...

I don't have my Max yet but I know it doesn't take much to be off on the tolerances to cause several gaps. Usually the one at the top with the chest plate goes away with just a touch of pressure and that helps line things up a little better. I would think your issue with the tail fin section has to do with the double hinge and you just need to push down a little on the front and pull up a little on the back. This was the closest pic from my sight I could find to show one looking a lot smoother:
-
Negative, I have to go back and pull info all the time, it's awful.
-
You would be surprised at how futile that is.
-
Yeah, until you want to find that one page that had that one cool pic or piece of info on it.

I thought that was closed for a long time....

I think we should go a step further. 1) Retire this thread to the hall of the super topics 2) Create a new thread for HMR VF-1 Toys 3) Create a new thread for HMR SDF Macross Non VF-1 Toys 4) Then Create a final thread for HMR Speculation for other non SDF series that could be renamed once we have a release date of a non SDF Macross toy to whatever that toy is. I'm super into compartmentalizing though and I know that doesn't work for everyone. If it were up to me, each release would get a new thread... it just makes tracking down information 2 years later so much easier...

I don't know how stores charge upfront for shipping anyway. I guess they must have to have dedicated boxes of varying sizes and then calculate which box they're going to use and what the weight of the goods are. I'd imagine most stores just set up their shipping calculator to be a little conservative and assume that if they ever don't charge quite enough on one order they'll over charge on another a little bit and it all evens out. It seems that doesn't work for NY and they may even have a profit margin on shipping that they are very strict about.

HMR Frontier toys will make a lot of sense as the DX toys become harder to find... I can definitely see them going that route but hopefully not for a while.

Is this going to be the story of Ricky bobbie?

I would love an elintseeker and ostrich next, I would like destroids even more. Maybe we'll get an oddball release before a Focker so they could do a 'for the fans' release then a 'make some money' release.
-
I'm willing to bet that the next HMR release will be a Focker release, maybe branded as a TV Focker with regular super parts, maybe stand alone.

Long story short, protoculture is revealed to actually be a bio fuel source imbued with magic properties and the race ends with the characters everyone cares about missing.

There's a scene in the show where they did some sight gags with a VF1A including writing Seiko and sex on it.

I've been working on my Hikaru 1J review, it's great. Joints are really tight, nothing broken. The only thing I've seen that others have complained about is that the head lasers come off pretty easy when I'm trying to pivot them. They aren't so loose though that they come off when I'm not handling them... that would be super annoying.
-
I don't have my Max yet but Hikaru is definitely TV only.
-
Well that solves it then, there was a reissue of Kakizaki with clear canopy and updated crotch (presumably) and the TV 1S is the only odd man out not available in both flavors.
