  1. Roy seemed to solve the pink issue, if it's still there it's much reduced.

    Deculture!
  3. It's a Disney film, the mom has to die. Leia's involvement may speak to the fact that the battle is impromptu. Remember, the rebels decide not to act... then come together at the last minute in an act of solidarity. Leia may have just been there to discuss the status of the rebellion and the creation of the Death Star as per the conversation with Organa but then found herself in a battle. The tentacle monster should have been cut... pretty sure they just wanted to make sure Saw didn't seem sympathetic and support the notion that he's "too militant."
  4. I agree, Dantooine would have been a better rebel base to use than Yavin IV and would have jived better... the only reason I could think they didn't go that route was that they wanted to show the characters on the familiar set. I'm not hung up on it though, aren't we shown everyone fleeing the flagship and it's only the poor souls stuck in a corridor that don't make it?
  5. You didn't ask for motivation, you asked for explanation. I agree on the motivation, obviously Vader is a huge draw. The explanation is urgency. Why not kill everyone? That's a fair question, and I would presume the answer is that Vader doesn't know exactly where the plans went. If he kills everyone on THAT ship will he kill the person who had the plans? It seems he wants to hold the plans in his hands to know they are secured. That same answer carries forward to ANH. He captures Leia, he doesn't destroy her ship and fly away. The "diplomatic mission" doesn't really need explanation. I think "Dood, I got no idea what you're talking about" is pretty standard 'just been caught' operating procedure. She is a diplomat and we don't know what her cover was before being a part of the attack. She might have left Alderaan on the guise of a diplomatic mission so now she's just playing that card. Totally makes sense to me that ANH would start 10 minutes later.
  6. I suspect that scene is there for 2 reasons. 1) Establish that Saw really is much more 'militant' than the other rebels. That doesn't seem like the kind of thing your mainstream rebel would do. 2) Further illustrate the very bad things the rebels are doing since a central tenet of the film is that the rebels had shelved numerous ideals in their pursuit of freedom. That said... I don't think the scene was necessary or worked. I think the explanation would be urgency. In ANH he has her entire ship on board his ship... no need to go flying through it pulverizing people. He can tear the ship apart bolt by bolt if he needs to.
  7. I watched the whole series over the last couple weeks and it definitely does lose steam after the 13th episode but I didn't mind it nearly as much as others have. Would I write the whole thing differently? Yes, but some of the exposition I actually enjoyed. Here are some thoughts (and again, I just watched it one time through, I haven't studied everything). Episode 1 felt like a test. They turned the ridiculousness up to 11 to establish that his wouldn't be a more serious Macross series for adult fans but rather something meant to appeal to a younger crowd. That said, I'm not sure it was meant for 14 year olds either... maybe something for fans that started with Macross7? It really does feel like a spiritual successor to 7. Oddly, after episode 1 the girls felt a lot less Sailor Moon. It felt like we got less and less of the girls' transformation sequences and the mecha dancing gradually became "riding the wind" which was simply good flying. By the time episode 13 rolled around it was starting to feel like it had cast off some of the silly shackles. There is definitely a pivot after episode 13 but it wasn't all bad to me. I really liked Frontier but one aspect that always bothered me about it was how poorly developed Macross Galaxy was as villains. Delta seems to sin in the other direction, over-developing the Windermereans. Lloyd (I'm not going to call him Roid) also bounces around as a villain. Early in the series he's cast aside for being too slow but then he rather suddenly regains favor and goes full uber tyrant. In the end, I am bummed because it felt like it had started heading in the right direction and then paused for lots of universe building. I thought Lloyd's attempt at the end was at least a new twist on the Macross formula and it was fun to see Protoculture playing a bigger role in the events. Had it always been intended as a 26 episode series the pacing would likely have benefited greatly. Overall, I'd put it above MacII, Mac7, and the first Macross Frontier movie with all other series and movies above it.
  8. I saw this the Friday after it came out and was a big fan. The only bummer is that it's definitely a lot lower down the "kid friendly" spectrum for those of us looking forward to sharing all things Star Wars with the kiddos but that's fine, there should be a large spectrum to keep the fun going for a while. As far as negatives of the action film, i have nothing but quibbles. For all the flack JJ Abrams got for lens flares, Gareth should get some for his use of shadows... it was cool at times but definitely overdone. Speaking of overdone, they over-used T. His first appearance should have been done via hologram call so it wasn't quite so obvious the actor was dead. His other scenes were small enough that it wouldn't have been so obvious he was getting the Jar Jar treatment. The first 30 minutes are also very jumpy... the film doesn't feel coherent until the team coalesces. A common question/complaint others have asked after seeing the film has been "Isn't the pilot supposed to be insane?" Saw's line seems pretty misleading. It takes the pilot about 1 minute to get his head back on straight. Again, all that's quibbles by my book. There were lots of amazing shots and what started off pretty bumpy turned into a pretty fun ride.

Yay for Spartan, can't believe they made it before the Tomahawk. It's gonna look lovely next to the Monster. Looking forward to the rest of the destroid crew as well!
  10. It's not a bigger Takatoku Henkei... it's a bigger block system! Going just off paint of course. Something bothers me about the front... can't place it yet.
  11. You need to rotate the legs outward like 20% or so, then try to move that intake joint... for some reason that makes it much easier.
  12. They should sell the internals separately from the skin so you can buy one and then buy the other figures with new skins and change it up as you see fit.
  13. I want! But I probably won't be able to convince myself to grab one.
  14. Well, I appreciate the efforts but will certainly miss the place. Happy holidays everyone.

I made a few Xmas ornaments out of Macross gashapon toys... this is taking it to a whole new level.

  17. Awesome recommendation. Got my kid a couple and introduced him to the dubbed cartoon to whet his appetite. I haven't handled the toys yet since they'll be gifts but they look perfect.
  18. Do they have the Faerie also?
  19. It might just be a hunk of vinyl... or more likely, vaporware.
  20. It doesn't say Toynami on there... It might be the KitzConcept company... Toynami might just be the distributor.

Toynami is not in the same league. If you have an HMR you will be unhappy with the 1/100s. The standalone toys are cheap and disposable so that is cool for some uses. The GBP release was pretty pricey for a Toynami in my opinion.
  22. Nope, vaporware. You can get the red and green beta for 60 each at the Robotech store.
