  1. I'm here as the regular folk because I was able to grab tickets. If there's ever a year I want to go and can't get tickets I'll try the media route.
  2. That's just art someone did imagining a live action film.
  3. At the Robotech panel they did show a picture of the Max figure but no pictures of a different cockpit. They said the cockpit is sold out but stay tuned for more announcements. The pilot seat is removable from cockpit and there is a separate sitting figure for the cockpit.
  4. I didn't see Kids Logic at SDCC at all so no Cyclone statue. I didn't see KitzConcept either.
  5. You can find my photos up here: http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=9672 Warning, I didn't shrink 'em down at all.
  6. I wasn't at last year's but they have a lot of licensing that seemed new that dominated most the discussion. There's 2 table top games, lots of new apparel, "muscle figures", a 90CM tall Prime1 SDF-1 statue that looked really cool (as opposed to the Prime1 VF-1 which looks not so cool), KitzConcept is allegedly working on a 1/72 VF-1 toy, they showed a couple stop motion commercials they made for the 1/100 VF-1 toy and the KitzConcept SD VF-1s, there's the Kid's Logic cockpit and figures, the new comic books, the new artbook and they made a point that they are recognizing the Japanese artists as part of the art books, and the Calibre Wings 1/72 Tomcats and future VF-1 diecast models. The Sony film was mentioned but with a "We don't know anything but it sure is exciting!" vibe... which I was stoked about... I was really worried it was going to be an hour of "What ifs" involving Sony.
  7. There is fan service in everything though. Even Minmay had a zero g shower. Also, if these shows focus on high school boys, then there's an amazing restraint in the amount of fan service you would expect. I wasn't too keen on it but I totally get it given the characters and audience of Frontier.
  8. It's definitely Toynami (the 1/60). There doesn't seem to be anyone knowledgeable to answer questions though and I haven't found any Sentinel people. I got pics on a good camera I'll upload later so we can look from different angles and analyze joints, I don't think there are ratchets on the arms but there's also no metal.
  9. The Toynami Alpha is definitely smaller than the MPC, no integrated landing gear, maybe not integrated fists. Looks good though... hopes are reduced for the evolution toys Legioss... Looks like it has pegs that'd you'd hope for so maybe a absolute lack of effort by the set up team. They say they're going to sell 1/100 pilots for their vf1 toys as separate accessories. Edit: Acid Rain toys look awesome.
  10. This is what I wrote in the "what are you watching" thread:
  11. I'll be there tomorrow, any thing in particular you want to try to figure out?
  12. But we know they don't have rights to the mechanical designs so they're going to be unrecognizable. Unless they're all Mospeada designs.
  13. They were done under WonderFest licenses, one day limited use. I thinks it would be safe to say they wouldn't be able to do a regular release of they put out Robotech merchandise.
  14. I thought the first episode was very off-putting but that it did gain momentum after that until the end mid point... where it promptly fell apart.
  15. Ooh, just in time for the SDCC Robotech panel... but still too soon for anything substantive.
  16. She may be 3 chronologically but she is an adult so nothing needs to be too creepy. She clearly doesn't have mental faculties or physical attributes of a 3 year old... it's kind of the Android thing. I'd say Frontier had a hard time portraying Galaxy well but it was less of a sin because Galaxy was a shadowy bad guy working behind the scenes. Delta tried to put Roid front and center but it felt like they were just making up his ambitions and motivations as they went.
  17. The benefit to being a smaller shop is that you can be more reactive to customer demand and do smaller production runs since what you want to do isn't competing against a million other projects a thousand other employees think would make more money. So, I wouldn't say it'd be funny, I'd say it may well be likely.
  18. I will be there with eyes peeled.
  19. 20th of July... Comic Con announcement?
  20. I think the Macross license being contested makes the manufacturers and licensors less tolerant. If this is an upacaled HMR it could be cool... though there seems to still be no agreement on how big this thing should be in 1/60 scale.
  21. The DYRL theme is kinda dumb in hindsight... they should all have black heat shields and black jolly roger emblems on the fast packs. It makes more sense off the example Roy set AND it would have been a win for the toy manufacturers. That said, the larger problem with the DYRL paint schemes is that there isn't a lot of trim making them stand apart from each other so I get the decision.
  22. I watched the first 4 episodes of Castlevania the other night... it's... not awful. It starts really awkward with a sort of unbelievable scene of Dracula being courted by the most progressive woman ever. They could have skipped that scene entirely and jumped right to the moment where Dracula gets very angry. It also vilifies the church in over-the-top ways that work less well than just having the church be manipulative. Like, instead of all priests being swordsmen and archers, they should have just portrayed them as getting the townspeople to do their bidding with maybe one or two priests also knowing how to use a weapon. Some of the other faults could probably just be chalked up to being homages to the video game... like huge falls, ground that has clearly been walked on by others suddenly collapsing... over and over again... etc.
  23. If you have to ask, you shouldn't spend the money on premium.
  24. I think it should have had a flip top lid, been black on the interior, and featured text color that matched the trim (red for Hikaru, Yellow for Focker).
