Seems doubtful, nothing teased and lots of teased stuff still to come.
  2. I don't get the problem with the Porgs honestly, they were never integral to the plot, they're just birds. People never watch other movies and say Argh, I hate birds! Now the milking scene, that was... Something.
  3. I think you misread some comments, no one used The Phantom Menace as an excuse, just clarifying that there's no way this film is that bad. It remains the low point, so low that trilogy could never recover. Not sure what you mean about riding coattails since this flick tried desperately to move on from the OT after TFA so everything it could to recapture it.
  4. Nah, he's been at the most sacred Jedi Temple with unknown texts, and he had his own Temple and adventures before that, I have a no problem with him acquiring that ability.
  5. You need to rewatch The Phantom Menace... there is no way this film was that bad. Seriously. No way. Remember the kid who accidentally destroys the "roger roger" robot command ship? Midichlorians? Immaculate conception? Every seen that Anakin was in and most that Natalie Portman were in? That film is dreadful start to finish. This film has problems, lots of them, but people seem to be forgetting all the problems with the other films and there are LOTS of them, even in the OT. Seriously, people are picking this movie apart for military strategy... as if there was lots of genius military strategy portrayed in previous films. Ewoks beat Stormtroopers for fcks sake. You know what I think would have been a cool twist? If they went straight Sixth Sense with Luke. Rey gets there, she tries to give him the lightsaber but he's like "nah". He holes himself up in some temple and spends minimal time with her basically directing her self-study. She does stuff like catch fish and milk things to survive. Then she leaves. Later Luke does his thing at the rebel base. Then we learn somehow that Luke died shortly after arriving on that planet but now that he has accomplished some redemption he is able to fade away. Speaking of fading away, here's another problem with the movie. After Snoke dies and Kylo enters the rebel base, he has another moment with Rey. This shouldn't be possible, Snoke was the one that was giving them their moments. This is done because it's important that we now see that Rey is wise enough to close the door on Kylo but it still shouldn't be possible. It doesn't take too much effort though to just make up some hand wavium that says "the force works in mysterious ways" or hypothesize that, whatever Snoke did, it had a bit of lasting power even after his death. Here's another sin (i'm not sure if it's been mentioned), when Luke de-materializes, his robot arm doesn't make a "clunk" sound and drop on the rock. It's as if he took his robot arm with him into the thereafter. Here's the fixes this film needed: 1) If they liked the slow chase, they should have made it seem like the rebels could defend themselves against TIE fighters and TIE Bombers. General Hux could have then just said "I'm not going to waste people attacking the ship, we'll just blow them up from afar." I mean, that's not too far from what happens... except the Rebels seem helpless at the time so it doesn't make sense. A better answer would have been to come up with some other macguffin where the rebels were pinned somewhere and knew it was only a matter of time before they were caught... the problem with that is it's exactly like Hoth. 2) Send Rose and Finn directly at the enemy. Introduce Benicio as a person of ill-repute on the planet that hitches a ride with the rebels to escape. He then is reluctantly helping but he really is just trying to save his own skin. When he gets on the First Order ship he sells them out because that's the best way to keep himself safe. They can give him a backstory about selling weapons to both sides so they can still make their social commentary. Without the casino scene this movie can easily be a half hour shorter or would at least feel it and we'd be spared the stupidity of the Maz scene and every stupid thing that happened on that planet. Okay, but how do we get to word of Luke's legend spreading then? Just show a First Order guy telling an arms merchant in a montage that leads to the kids playing somewhere. 3) Leia needed to die... and not just because Carrie Fisher is dead. Geriatric leaders just haven't been fun since Tarkin. Besides, her life seems awful at this point... she made it into her old age running from the Empire. Han at least got to get out for a little while. Well, that wouldn't have solved everything, but I think that'd solve my major issues.
  6. Well yeah, back to her being a bad leader and the plot relying on that but it's also making the point that Poe is still irresponsible. His assumption shouldn't be that the admiral is hopeless and that a mutiny is required and he shouldn't be sending people off on half cocked missions that will likely deliver them into enemy hands.
  7. Wasn't it like 20 years ago when Kawamori shrugged off the original cast? Seems ample time for him to change his mind and we know he too plays by the sponsors rules. I don't want them to go back, just saying we shouldn't be too hastey in ruling things out.
  8. In response to the Jeremy Jahns review, I mentioned before, the casino scene is actually another failure of Poe, who enables it. A lot of people are missing that in their reviews though that doesn't redeem the arch. The great thing about Luke’s end was that it does answer the question why people don't do that more. Kylo also sets up that earlier when he says using the force to do impressive stuff ’would kill you.’
  9. For sure, there hasn't been a Legioss that holds muster against what we've seen for other franchises. Even HMR toys blow away the efforts we've seen for the Legioss and they're very small scale. We'll have to petition Sentinel if the Ride Armor is enjoyable.
  10. You can only do so much with linear and simple plots but that is certainly ANH. The problem for these movies is that the universe has grown too huge. Look at all the people in this thread pissed about the treatment of OT characters. It's hard to make a movie about new characters when your audience wants a continuation story that doesn't need to be made. So, we get two movies at the same time, one for the new characters, one with the old characters, and people unsatisfied with both. Fortunately for the next film, the OT characters are mostly departed. The feminism stuff sounds stupid to me. If a guy told Poe off and acted like that woman did, I don't think anyone would care. Since she's a woman people cry feminism. How many other movies have we watched bad male officers in and been like 'meh, that guy sucks' and left it at that?

    Bandai DX VF-31

My Kai is shipped, I paid about 34,800 shipped after all proxy fees. Not terrible... Not great. I might get a second after the lottery floods the market if they're available near MSRP.
  12. It's a chunk monkey, like the 1/55 VF-1 toys. It's big and intimidating but yeah, not the most anime accurate. Joints slide smoothly though and stay where you want them and there are ratchets. It's just amazing that it got so many things right back then that manufacturers struggle with today.
  13. Small feet? You like the huge feet of the other toys?
  14. Anyone have success gluing Toynami MPCs? I have to try to put one back together....
  15. Always loved my 10B and that glossy finish.
  16. Simmer down Tekering. How tall is an Atlas? I assume it's much larger than a Scopedog in the Votoms universe.
  17. On the old Yamatos it could be a nightmare, at least until you'd done it once... I can't recall if taking them off was just as bad.

Soltic is an entire mold that, as of right now, is web exclusive. Same thing for Timp!
  19. I don't know... Most people didn't seem too thrilled with bureaucracy taking front stage in the prequels, I think that's a big part of why the new trilogy has basically not touched on it to the detriment of the stories. We don't even understand what the republic was at this point. The Empire was just bad in the OT and we didn't need to learn a lot about why it was bad... I suspect these filmmakers want to return to that simple backdrop. The good guys were just good... Until Lando.
  20. That was entertaining but I'm afraid almost all Star Wars films fall apart with scrutiny (there are great takedowns of the prequel trilogy that should be required viewing among the new film makers). Sleeping in a dead animal won't keep you warm and a personnel carrier that can be tripped is silly... And that's not even touching ewoks. The slow chase was awful though and really did involve a whole lot of brain shutting off.
  21. Looks faboo!
