    There's only been two releases over all these years so I don't think bandai is going to be challenging you with many options. There's one other color (white) with this head and several others with a different head.

    Curious if that will help. My 639 set is also 'tacky' and I assumed it was the paint breaking down.

    I wrote something once on what Robotech Live Action would need to be to separate it from Macross. I went with the same concept of the "SDF-1" being found buried in a glacier rather than crashing into Earth. Once the humans used its technology, it became easy for Masters to identify where it was and send their slave soldier race after it (they would need a new name). I figured you would ditch the whole giant thing and just have the "Zentraedi" equivalents be convinced that the humans are the offspring of the crashed ship and unclear if they're fighting their own before ultimately realizing that the Earthlings enjoy a better existance and they'd rather be on their side... but not before the Earth took its awful beating. The Exedol equivalent would tell us that Zor had been to Earth and manipulated the DNA of the inhabitants and that's why he chose it as the hiding place for his ship when he rebelled. After that, I figured you could pretty much slide into the sequel stories but clean-up all the rough edges and sync them together better. I'd probably make the Masters look more alien and reintroduce the original Southern Cross concept that they were actually fighting enslaved, brainwashed humans rather than the Masters themselves with all the twisted moral implications. As I thought about it though, the more you tease apart Robotech to make it unique from Macross, the more you create a generic scifi movie that doesn't need to be called Robotech. So, if I'm Sony and I want to make a scifi epic, I would be better off paying a writer to take the concepts of the not Macross story and make a new franchise that I wouldn't need to share with any existing rights holders, especially if I don't trust the name would put enough butts in the seats to warrant the expense. You could then market the movie saying it was inspired by all the great 80s mecha anime and name drop a bunch of them.

    For anyone curious about the Weathered Edition, I made a video visual comparison: And I've uploaded the pictures to anymoon.com if you prefer that format: While it's not the most logical or realistic weathering, I found it fun! I like the burn effect on the feet.

    That makes sense. What's the last photo showing us? Is that the HMR extended or another model? I thought they were trying to tell us it could achieve 'tall mode' it something :P.

    The world has shifted as Robotech's relevance and HG's stranglehold has waned. Most manufacturers want to dual badge to cast a wider net. My guess is TZ is hoping to get BW to license their product but it will never happen and they'll release Macross versions of their toys eventually. Crazy that we've come so far that the pilot names are now painted in the toy and that's the big differentiator. There are lots of non-Macross Robotech toys though so there's no perfect answer to how to structure the conversation. If each toy had its own thread that would be cumbersome.

    Sharon was a very different idol in all ways. They could go the Ishtar route with an alien singer as a way to make a different music experience. Still, if albums are how Macross makes its money, we have a pretty good idea what to expect.

    What are they like in the box? Still have the unused sticker sheets? We can find some comps on Yahoo Japan. I know one of mine is beat up and is like to replace it.

    Maybe the HG staff are creating new names to separate the originals further.

    It's pretty common to see the chests on the Yamato 1/48s yellowing, particularly the DYRL colors.

    I believe the "with pilot" listings were an incentive to pre-order, now that it's been released, it makes sense there won't be listings with pilot and the pilot will need to be purchased separately.

    That one gets rid of the crazy-sized Legioss that looks like it's half buried in the ground.

    The bummer of the Hi-Metal R is that they had the foresight of knowing they would do the sound booster and knowing how Yamato came up short on it and instead decided to cheap it out and reuse their old sound booster (so it appears) with different clips. If they do a DX VF-19 like they teased, I sure hope they put more thought into how the two will connect but after the DX YF-21, I have my doubts.

    I was shopping for Taycans for a bit also, love them, then got a company car so no need to buy anything on my own. I'm going to hold off until black Friday to build my next computer, really hoping GPU stock is in better shape then. I have a 4090 in my gaming build and might just replace it with a 5080 and use the 4090 in my photo/movie rig.

    First, glad the site has been helpful, I'm still trying to plug away at it. You are correct, there are no special attachment pieces that would make the AX ghosts work with previous releases. I'm not sure if you could make it work with the attachment pieces that came with the previous ghost release... maybe someone else has tried that.

    Thank you for explaining this. I checked out the auction assuming it was a 1/48 conversion and was surprised when I looked a little closer. A fun little bit of history.

    Very impressive! Is there a difference between the two Hikaru VF-1J? I think I need the cannon fodder and max individual and (of course) the super 1S but don't expect I'll ever get that one.
