  1. There's been some talks about hosting a smaller con this year, sorta like a throwback to the old days when everyone just sat around, talked macross, sold things, shared customs, and hung out.... I won't be planning anything elaborate as the past 4 years, but would still like to host something potentially in September. The last few years really took a lot out of me and i don't have as much energy to host MW Cons anymore. I think we all get burnt out at some point and this is pretty much it for me. if there are any competent, willing, and energetic folks out there that may be interested in planning an MW Con, speak up and show your interest. If your credentials are good, i'm sure the MW Con team would be happy passing the baton.
  2. i can confirm that some of the newer stands have taken paint off some of my valks. I have a Low Viz 1 that has two spots on the fins that are missing paint, and i clearly see it on one of the stands that i have. I also have some other valks that have the old black scuff marks from the old black tip stands.... As long as these guys aren't touching painted parts, seems to be fine, but over time, i imagine any rubber surface can melt onto a product and peel some paint away.
  3. Wow, so many good looking Mac F figures now for both Sheryl and Ranka.... i can't keep up, but i really like these Mega House figs that have the removable clothes to give the figs variety..... Wish i could get them all! but alas, no more display space
  4. keeps looking better! I'm looking forward to this release
  5. I ordered twice from them during their 1st 2 Macross sales and got my items within a week from the time i placed my orders. The 2nd one was right after the big earthquake too and i was still surprised i got it so quickly. 1st time was through Fed Ex and 2nd was through EMS. I got my items before my CC was finished charging the items. =] But anyways, back on topic.... this is definitely a well made toy that i would consider picking up if i i find it later at a good discounted price. Wouldn't pay retail for this as i've never finished watching Mac 7 and don't have much interest in the valks.... Here's to hoping for another HLJ sale next year when these go on 35% - 50% clearance!
  6. i'd LOVE to see a Phalanx.... even if it takes one of our master creative MW members to make a destroid conversion kit.... DOOO EEEET!!!! I have spare destroids, just in case this ever happens... =]
  7. got mine about 2 weeks ago too
  8. Good thing i got everything i needed from the last 2 sales... Can the VF-19 kai come out already so it can go on sale at HLJ? haha
  9. With all the SDF-1 releases and customs, how's the work coming along on this beauty? any work done on the ARMD's or painting? would LOVE to see this completely finished and next to one of the yamato SDF-1's
  10. i ordered a Patlabor CLAT too and got it a few weeks back. Good sculpt and figure, but unfortunately i'm not that impressed due to the color scheme. The dark blue all blends together and you can't see a lot of details on the figure. I kinda wish i got the original instead since i only wanted 1. Its kinda like if you could only get 1 Masterpiece Optimus prime mold, and you got Ultra Magnus instead of an original prime. Kinda dissapointing, but oh well!

    1/60 Yamato Glaug

wow, i was pretty fooled, even though i didn't post since i wouldn't get one.... are you allowed to start posting april fool's stuff the day before??? that's messed up
  12. Gmail motion was actually pretty entertaining
  13. that's a pretty legit custom SDF-1... definitely original!!
  14. I thought this video was great! gives me hope...
  15. Just got me a patlabor CLAT and some of the weathered Destroids from this sale. Ordered last week via EMS and just got them shipped to my office today. =] glad to see they pulled everything back together from the earthquake and was still able to operate efficiently last week. However, 1 or 2 of my boxes had dings in them as i bet they may have fallen off a shelf.
  16. finally completed!! Great pics! Best 1/3000 SDF-1 custom out there... congrats!
  17. Yes, the Red Cross screwed up during Katrina and the funds i believe were put into the general Disaster Relief Fund to support Katrina and other national disasters. It was a big PR bust, but we've had a new President and CEO, Gail McGovern, since 2008 and she has done an amazing job of turning the American Red Cross into a sound and fiscally responsible organization. When she took over the reigns 3 years ago, we were $212 million in debt, and during FY 10, she had us in the black and was very transparent on how those funds came to us and how we've been spending donor dollars. Now there are tons of regulations on donations and restricted funds for specific disasters so that we follow all 'donor intent' to the fullest. We responded really well during Haiti and i've seen how all the donations we have collected are sitting in a reserve fund for the next several years designated to Haiti re-development efforts. The job isn't finished there yet even though the media has left, so any contributions made to big international crisis will support the relief efforts for as long as the help is needed. Thanks to everyone that has donated! It's good to see this online community give back and i only hope you all take an extra step in the process to ensure that you prepare yourself for local disasters that can happen in your area. Here's 3 simple steps to prepare yourself: 1. Get a Kit - Get your own disaster kit for you and family. Water is the most important thing you need. 1 gallon of water per person for at least 3 days. 2. Make a Plan - Make sure you and your family have a plan in case of a disaster. Where would you meet if you were on opposite sides of town? do you have out of state contacts? 3. Be Informed - Know where to go in case of emergency, which radio stations to listen to. Also, I recommend taking CPR/1st Aid so in extreme emergencies, you can help out others after you take care of yourself and your family more info here: http://preparela.org/
  18. The Red Cross and Salvation Army are 2 of the most recognized and trusted organizations you can donate your money to. I work for the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region and can share a little bit about how your donation works during international crisis. The local Red Cross for that county mobilizes immediately to respond to the disaster. The local Red Cross can request assistance through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies where they put out a call to all 186 societies to provide aid in 3 ways. 1. Sending specialized trained delegates to respond to the disaster 2. Mobilize goods from warehouses around the world 3. Direct financial contribution to local Red Cross for their relief efforts to purchase local goods, and mobilize local volunteers for disaster relief All Red Cross donations follow 'donor intent' so if you donate specifically for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund, 100% of it will go towards that relief effort. You can find more info on www.redcross.org.
  19. Here are the latest talking points i just received from our Communications dept at the Red Cross: INTERNATIONAL The American Red Cross is currently in discussions with the Japanese Red Cross to assess their needs and see how we can help. The Japanese Red Cross has extraordinary disaster response capabilities. They have been operating since 1887, and they run multiple hospitals and blood collection services across the country. Eleven Japanese response teams are currently assessing damage and supplying first aid in the affected region. In addition, the Japanese government has mobilized an emergency response, deploying 900 rescue workers to this area. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has offered to assist Japan with restoring family links. The American Red Cross has a warehouse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, fully stocked with pre-positioned relief supplies for 5,000 families, and it has disaster specialists on stand by. These supplies can be used for people in U.S. territories or other Pacific nations. DOMESTIC American Red Cross chapters in the Pacific islands of Hawaii, Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, as well as those on the west coast of the U.S., are on alert and ready to provide assistance as needed to their communities. In Hawaii, the Hawaii Red Cross is staging cots and blankets across the islands in case shelters are needed. Evacuation shelters are open, with additional locations on standby, in Oregon, Washington and California. The Red Cross is working closely with state officials in Hawaii and West Coast Emergency Operations Centers around activities such as sheltering and feeding. Approximately 100 Red Cross mobile feeding vehicles are on standby. Red Cross disaster supply warehouses in Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands), California, Washington and Hawaii are activated in case relief supplies are needed. We’re mobilizing resources as necessary and are coordinating with FEMA and state Emergency Operation Centers. DISASTER FUNDRAISING Those who want to help can go to www.redcross.org and donate to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. Gifts to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. People can make a $10 donation by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Their donation will go to support relief efforts for the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. 21. Really happy to hear that all our MW members in japan are reporting in safe. At work with the Red Cross and we're getting all sorts of inquiries about how the general public can help. Immediately, it is difficult to provide any assistance that can make an impact. The local Japanese government and disaster relief agencies like the Japanese Red Cross need to assess their ability to handle and cope with the disaster and then they put out a call to the international Red Cross society for international aid. When it is safe, and we are requested, then we can send out an international disaster relief support team where needed and use donor dollars to help the relief operation.
  22. Kye, this is simply an outstanding level of detail you've put into this. I can't believe you cut out 800 decals to apply! You have the patience of a zen monk... haha... i was crying when i tried to sticker up my 1/60 v2 valks, and you've made it look easy to turn this into a masterpiece. Can't wait to see it all put together!!! As for a display case to put this in, i can't think of anything that would do it justice. You might have to make a custom display case for it. The detolf shelves i have are too short to fit the SDF-1 in attack mode with the canons all the way up. Would you display this with other stuff? or would you only want to showcase this one by itself?
  23. i went to that concert last year and it was pretty awesome. They sound fantastic live
  24. It was a custom i made for the MW Con 2007 customs contest. i was originally inspired by the VF-1S plush valk and knew i could i make a better version. I just started off with the head and worked out the rest of the body on the fly without making any patterns. I was actually trying to design a 2nd version that was 1/3 smaller and made the patterns and started the sample version. However, i've kinda put the project on hold but hopefully will get back and finish an update sometime. =] Here's a link to the thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=26922&st=0&p=629639&hl=plushie&fromsearch=1entry629639
