I have really grown to love the Rafale. Thanks for sharing. Chris

About the base. I found it funny that they made a big thing about there is only 1 way in or out and it’s through that big door, and then they promptly show soldiers getting to the OUTSIDE trenches through other doors and the surviving skimmer pilots make it back into the base through those same OTHER doors. I get that the FO is out there, but the definition of the ONLY way in or out is a bit off. The FO could’ve just sent troopers to the trenches and blown open the smaller doors....it’s not like their big door buster opened that big a hole in the big door, and all they did was march some troops in anyway. It really isn’t necessary, you are just introduced to her in that book. She’s actually a very odd girl in the book, but develops a good friendship with Leia. The base is nothing overly important either, both character and base are more like “hey I read about you in that book” no required backstory to get insight or information. Holdo was still a contributing factor in that. Think about in ESB. Leia is briefing the Troops about the how the Hoth Evacuation will proceed. A grunt actually speaks out by incredulously asking “2 fighters against a Star Destroyer!?” Does Leia just keep her mouth shut and smile, give some cryptic message of faith, or just tell the grunt he’s too low ranking to be in the know..(all things that Holdo did in the course of the “Chase”) No, she answered the Troopers concern by explaining that the Ion Cannon will provide covering fire. That’s why I can’t stand the lack of Logic in what Holdo did. If she would’ve just told Poe, regardless of his recent demotion he still destroyed Starkiller base and was, according to TFA one of Leia’s most trusted people. Not to mention she obviously talked to Holdo about him being the a future Leader of the Resistance, according to dialog between them in TLJ. I agree about the state of the Resistance, now the New Rebellion, at the end of this movie. At least at the end of Empire the Rebels still had a Fleet...a real one too, not just the 3 ships the Resistance HAD. I hope Episode nine takes place around 10 years later, to give time for things to build up. Chris

It already was. In “Leia, Princess of Alderaan” it is a early Rebel cell base. That book also introduces Holdo. She’s not a bad character, I just thought her stupid lack of logic made little to no sense in the movie, and to use the character just to through her away was pointless.

My problem with the taking out the laser Canon thing was that he would’ve made it. If they showed it fire just after Rose knocked him out of the way then it would make sense....she saved him from a pointless death. Instead, though, she crashes into him, they crash land, have their conversation and then the thing fires. She basically said to hell with everyone else in the base, you mean more to me. What a selfish stupid idea/act that is supposed to be profound in some way. Chris

Like what Chronocidal said the EU had “some” explanations. In TLJ, imagine if the “countdown” to running out of fuel was to instead disable all the safety precautions built into hyperdrives that prevent jumps toward an object ect. Add an Interdictor to the FO fleet, instead of Hyperspace tracking, and make Rose be the “mechanic” that can rewire the hyperdrive in time to allow the maneuver before the fleet runs out of fuel. I think it would work a lot better. Not a simple override, pull the lever type thing. Yes it would still allow for what Azrael said, though. Maybe add a line of dialog about why not make a hyperspace missile in the first place and just state that ships have a built in defense that can stop one but something the size of a Mon Cal Cruiser is another thing. At least it would make a “little” more sense in the movie. Chris

Those ships are HUGE. Get one moving near the speed of light at impact and that is a LOT of kinetic energy, which is were the destructive force would come from. It is the same principle as Railgun only at a much larger and faster scale. The Executor was jus slowly “falling” out of orbit to the DS2’s surface. Having ships “suicide” into other targets at or near the speed of light would be devastating to ships, stations, or planets. I think that’s why people have a problem with its use in TLJ. It weaponized Light Speed and makes us wonder why they never used before. Chris

So the Regults are not in the same scale as the VF-1’s right? They are supposed to be large enough to fit a grown Zentadi trooper inside and the VF-1 is the same size as an average Zentradi right? Chris

Maybe there is something too dangerous in the water to get close to the water. When Rey is walking the island you can clearly see a large....something....crest the surface of the water. Chris

Cool! That’s how I marked my 4 T-70’s I built 2 years ago. I also made the blue markings on the bridge of the nose to match as well. They actually can correspond. Blue Leader Blue 2 Blue 3 Blue 5 -

That’s pretty nice. I agree with the removal of the panel lines for the the dish and the opposite side ones. I would also add, maybe doing something different with the “gunless” wells. Maybe make them dorsal and ventral docking ports or something. Chris -
I like that. Like I’ve said, just a little more time by these “professional” screen writers would do wonders. If we fans can come up with plausible ways to make an overall script work, with little fuss to their beloved story, but fixes much of the head scratching “mulligans” that they seem to want us to take to make said story work, then why can’t they? @Jenius No but IIRC Poe was pleading with her to tell him something, that there is a plan, to give them hope. They where obviously freaking out.......she said nothing. Not a very good leader at all. Chris

Excellent point. Like many have have said, Poe definitely F’d up and got lots of people killed, but Holdo absolutely played a part in the second scenario. Chris

It was....just the excuses of spies and such is silly. However, when the Resistance is in such dire straights and are on the Run from the First Order who have already found them and they are on their last legs, the descision to not tell him is a bit short sighted and stupid on her part. They try and explain it away as a leap of faith or something, Holdo says as much at one point talking with Poe....she quotes something from Leia, but I can’t remember the exact line. Either way, both Holdo and Poe really screwed up IMO. Poe really did get ALOT of people killed in this movie, but Holdo had a hand in at least the second circumstance. One thing I really scratch my head at, as the Angry review said, why didn’t the so described “FLEET KILLER” Dreadnought, you know, kill the fleet where all the Resistance evacuees where seen fleeing to? The base was not and could not go any where but those ships as we saw can and did. Just a lot of stupid descisions in the movie from all sides. I would just like a well thought out movie that shows some form of competence from the forces involved. I know that has NEVER been SW’s strong suit, but it would be nice to see for us aged fans. Instead the good guys win because of stupidity, incompetence, poor aim by bad guys (Empire/First Order), purely for plot convenience. It’s just a bit lazy writing because it seems like they don’t want to put in the time to figure things out and rather want to get from plot point a to b in the fastest, most simplistic way. Doesn’t need to be overly intellectual but at least not so dumbed down either. Just my 2 cents. Chris

Yes Poe is the spy, the guy that blew up the Starkiller base and the Dreadnought. Leia’s Most trusted soldier. IIRC, Leia and Holdo have spoken about Poe in the past as well as he being the future of resistance leadership. Chris

That’s what I am going for. Not constant politics, but enough to show how the “democracy” isn’t working well and instead of the Republic becoming the Empire, systems just leave to a “new” one. Have it show how, possibly, the more freedom or kind hearted the Republic is, is also causing more lawlessness and piracy ect. Then how the First Order cracks down, HARSHLY, on those things....possibly even giving the audience some thoughts about the possible benefits. Maybe have it still be the Imperial Remnant, and the First Order is it’s shadow group with the Resistance being the New Republics shadow group. So while the 2 governments are in a “Cold War” of sorts, fighting politically....their shadow groups are fighting a “Hot War” in smaller skirmishes, trying to show the crimes and or failures that the other side is committing. Then by movie 2 the war goes completely “HOT”. Chris

If they really wanted to try something different, they should’ve shown the New Republic being bogged down by bureaucracy and corruption with little being accomplished anymore. More and more systems are becoming disenfranchised with the ineptness of the government and are being “courted” by an former Imperial faction, the “First Order”, that is apparently prospering and growing. Leia see’s the danger the First Order represents, but the corruption and ineptitude of the New Republic is making the apparent strength of the FO’s government a very tempting proposition for many. Basically, turn everything on its head. Instead of having a Rebellion growing out of an evil Empire, again, do the opposite and show more people going to a more seemingly strong/ driven, yet tyrannical, government due to inaction and infighting of a indecisive Republic. Instead of being just “black and white” good/evil, show why some people would join an Empire and/or fight with them. The FO could still be evil, but show the problems of the New Republic as well.
