I get that, but it’s not like the Fed’s turned their backs to them like Kirk wanted to do to the Klingons. They did make the effort or “Big Gesture” at great cost in both lives and resources. Chris

Also.....and I’m legit asking as I did like the premiere overall....but am I correct in understanding that Picard’s disillusionment with Star Fleet and even the Federation is because after they spent the time and resources to construct a massive fleet to help the Romulans, which was then destroyed by terrorists (along with a major fleet yard and MARS costing tens of thousands of lives), he is pissed that they aren’t willing to do it again? REALLY?? With what I mentioned in my post above and *IF* this is the show’s reasoning, then Picard is freaking nuts. Again....IF......this is what Stewart and the show runners are equating to conservatives, Trump, and BREXIT...then these people are nuts. Chris

Watched it as well from a friends account. Sorry CBS, not signing up for 1 freaking show. I enjoyed it. As some else said, I’m interested to see more but not necessarily EXCITED....mainly because I’m waiting for “the other shoe to drop” thanks to Mr. Stewart’s interview comments. now for my Trekkie observations/nitpicks: Chris

Oooh nice! Chris -
That is a good track too. As for Newman, he was one of the big ones in the 90’s. He actually made 2 of my favorite scores Less than Zero and Men Don’t Leave. Unfortunately, Men Don’t Leave was never released. I had an unofficial copy for a while but have since lost it. Chris

^^ Nice! Finally finished 2202. Not as bad as I thought but the fleet/ship porn was a bit much...and this is coming from someone who LOVES that sort of thing. Motivations and history of the Gatlantians was a little confusing for me as was keeping track of the characters. I did enjoy Desler’s back story and motivations. Definitely going to build a 2202 refit and final battle refit Yamato to display with the 2199 version to display as an evolution of the ship display. Also have a Ginga and standard Andromeda class kits coming to kit bash into the Aquarius. I really love the EDF ships. Chris

For those of you that like movie scores, 1917 has a surprisingly good score. It was the first score in years that I noticed while watching the movie that grabbed my attention. This track in particular: Chris

Count me as another that loved that scene. One of the best scenes in the entire saga IMO. Chris

Lol...I always think that Master and Commander: The Far side of the World was the last great Trek movie. A brash young Captain who is in love with his ship and who’s best friend and confidant is a scientist and the ships Doctor. He’s dedicated to the mission but would sacrifice all for his friend while exploring the unknown. Chris

I was just coming here to say the same. Just saw it last night....my God what an amazing movie. Not adventurous like some war movies or over preachy. Just a hard nosed look at the utter hell of WWI. Amazingly acted and filmed. Very very TENSE. Also agree about the town....and the music in that scene....WOW. This was the first score that really caught my attention in a long time. The film really made me think of Dante’s Inferno. Like the characters were going through the different levels of Hell. A truly AMAZING movie. Chris

Lost in Space series a Netflix adventure?

Personally, I felt S1 got a lot better after Maurine and John reconcile...about halfway through the season. Chris -

The problem is, without the different time lines we wouldn’t be able to see all the characters from the get go. The series would just start with Yennifer. Then after a few episodes Geralt would be introduced. Then the queen near the end of the season and finally Ciri in like the last few episodes. I personally don’t think the show would flow as well if we weren’t watching all 3 from the beginning, and would probably require a lot more filler material for each character to fill out episodes. Maybe what would’ve help would’ve been an onscreen text of 50years earlier ect. Instead of just wanting for the audience to catch on. Chris

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Dobber replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That may be something they could do with the baby Yoda.......have the Mandalorian find Sabine and Ashoka whilst they are on the own quest. They didn’t leave until after RotJ either. Chris- 1438 replies

Lost in Space series a Netflix adventure?

I forgot about that, that was great! Chris -
Amen brother. Troopers at the standoff didn’t seem toooo bad either. Mando gets hit several times too. Of course he has armor...both plot and beskar but still. Chris

I know, that’s why I said we know they will succeed. Just at least make it look good. I don’t necessarily want a GOT type thing either as that was just the other side of the same coin...the good guys always died! Lol. I like seeing the heroes triumph, just make it seem like the enemy was competent while they do it is all. Chris

Yeah, why is there an issue with woman getting shot? The bad guys can be women and any ethnic group too. Isn’t that what equality is all about? This isn’t meant to be smarmy either. Chris

What I was referring to about the “Raid” is how they where running down the corridor and the Stormtroopers are just falling down, from cover, left and right. I know it’s the whole plot armor thing, but it is really getting old how the Good guys can barely ever miss while on the run and in the open and the bad guys can’t hit squat. I know it’s the running joke in Star Wars but it’s just too much now. The way they were going they could’ve just cleared the whole ship for crying out loud. My point is, we already know the heroes will win in these movies, but why go the extra mile to take all the threat of the enemy away. If they can just fly up to a command ship and land with minimal investigation, get into overt fire fights on the ship, free a high value captive, and then escape...I mean come on. I’d just like the enemy to seem a little more threatening and competent. Even when they still loose. Take Finn and the other defectors. All former Stormtroopers and are very effective thanks to their training, yet every time we see a Stormtrooper...they suck. One of these things is not like the other. Chris edit: Before anyone else says it was done in ANH, I am aware but it was still different. First they where brought on board the Death Star and hid from large groups of personnel. The moves through the station disguised and only got into a fight in the cell block. Even then they still delayed the response. Their escape while yes unlikely, still seemed more plausible instead of just blasting their way through. Plus, it could be argued that Tarkin let them go.

Yup. Funny how now that the whole trilogy is done you can start to make sense of the overall story...almost like how it could’ve worked if they would’ve just mapped out the story from the start! Shock! Like we talked about in the thread over at SSM, some tweaks tomake it actually fit into the overall story and remove a bunch of the stupid crap and then tweak Luke’s story. Bam! The trilogy actually works pretty well IMO. As it is though....as you say...8 acts as an sink-hole in the middle that pulls everything else down. Chris
