I agree, both on his insistence and also on the writer’s ability to make him a nuanced character in this regard. After this episode while I still don’t agree with the disrespect he gives Seven, I also think if people would view this action from a slightly different perspective….say a woman traumatized by a gang, whose members use gang names. She then is around a former member of that gang who insists on still using that gang name, said woman would be given a lot more understanding and leniency in this regard. Watching his ready room interview with Wil Wheaton was also fabulous. I loved how when they were talking about how Shaw doesn’t have the same awe that others have for Picard and Riker…and rightly so. Riker literally said in the first episode that he and Picard just need to “con” the Captain. He’s right that from Shan’s POV they have betrayed their oaths to Star Fleet. That Shaw and his crew where in essence expendable to their goals. I would love a show with Shaw and the Titan. Also I can’t help but wonder for people like Shaw or Sisko etc who survived Wolf 359 and Locutus…how much of Locutus was informed by Picard or how much of Picard now is influenced by Locutus? Was Picard selected as spokesperson of the Borg because he was Captain or did the Borg see something else in him? From their POV Picard still insists on his way…see above about using Shaw and the Titan… and likely other instances of breaking the rules for what he believes is the greater good. It would be kind of scary from the point of view of someone who is not informed as we are as the audience, to have to live with the mess or the destruction in these “Legends” wakes. I just appreciate the more nuanced look we are being given for the first time in a while in Trek. edit: apologies, I’m not very good at writing down my thoughts or fully articulating them, but I hope I was able to make a little sense. 🤷🏻♂️ Chris

While I don’t HATE Alien 3, I still agree with this. Ripley’s story should’ve ended at the end of Aliens. No need to further traumatize her. Chris

Gotta agree with Thom here. As much as I dislike Bev now, I wouldn’t go as far as calling her a boarder-line sex offender. A shitty person yes with a lame plot/justification definitely 😉 Chris

I stopped watching Discovery pretty early in season 3, but I’ve heard it said that all of Burnhams accomplishments are basically solving the problems that she, herself, created. Is that more or less accurate?

[Paramount] Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
Dobber replied to Old_Nash_II's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks really fun, though I hate that weird jerky frame rate that is becoming the new thing. Spider verse did it and I noticed the action sequences in the latest Puss in Boots did it as well. I thought my internet was lagging or something every time it did it. Chris -
Have to agree with @Seto Kaiba again about Jack running guns. If there are victims of warlords, then giving the Warlords MORE weapons will only create more victims. It’s like saying we will solve gang violence by giving the gangs more guns…because we all know that no innocents and only other gang members are ever killed in gang violence. 🤷🏻♂️ Good job Bev! Your reasoning and morality that you passed on to your son are clearly far superior to ours.🤦♂️ Chris

Yup, that’s why her “reasoning” isn’t very logical. Then Jack being seemingly mad at Picard for not being there….blame your mother for that. Chris

Some good in this episode, but overall my least favorite of the 3 shown so far. A lot of head scratching logic that has already been stated. My biggest dislike and strangely also like was the Picard/Beverly confrontation. Dislike because, F*** Beverly, that was an atrocious thing to do, with the most asinine logic (as @Seto Kaiba pointed out above). No apologies, no shame…she is officially my least favorite character now even surpassing Picard after being ruined by Sir Patrick in his first 2 seasons 🤦 But I also strangely liked the scene, because Picard actually stood up to her instead of rolling over and understanding because…woman. He had a backbone. Chris

One of my biggest problems with a lot of the Kurtzman Trek was the utter lack of professionalism displayed by quasi-military officers who are supposedly the best and brightest. The snide remarks and quips etc. An utter lack of discipline. As a 47 yr old FAA Air Traffic Controller who was also in the Navy, this hits a little too close to home for me with what I see more and more of in the work place. The lack of willingness to put in one’s time to move up, learn, and grow. Just total entitlement. I PERSONALLY think that is one reason why so many of these characters don’t resonate with a good portion of the audience. Not because of (insert personal affiliation) but more because of attitude. We all see it so much IRL. Then again maybe that’s why it does have a fan base as well and I’m, as Chris Evans said, just a dinosaur. 🤷🏻♂️ Chris

Agree with all this, however I will say that the Luna class Titan may not have been destroyed or damaged beyond repair. It is not unheard of in real world navies for even brand new warships to be mothballed after a relatively short career, looking at you Zumwalt class frigates, much less a modest career of some 20+ years. Again, I agree with you, just being objective and “trying” to make sense of the info we’ve been given.🤷🏻♂️ My personal main gripe is the registry number with the -A. Too many ships are now having legacy registries. It reminds me of an interview I heard with Matt Greoning (the creator of the Simpson) he once gave guidelines for his writers and animators to just remember to not “out-Simpson the Simpson” That’s why no other characters have the same style of hair and such. Trek is now CONSTANTLY out Kirking and Enterprising the TOS crew and ship making them much less special when they are supposed to be the gold standard for Starfleet. Chris

Wow….that is quite the resemblance. Chris

Was that stated officially? I know the guys at Trek Yards said that but they also believe this is the same ship refitted so as much as I like their channel they lost me on that one. Lol Chris

So here are my 2 cents on the whole Titan thing. The Luna class Titan did exist, not only was it in LD but there is a model of it in the conference room in the previous episode showing the history of the the Titan’s (like the Enterprise lineage models seen in the D and E). I believe this is a new ship and not the Luna class refitted into something new. Maybe the whole Neo constitution class just finished refit or something. So Riker commanded the Luna class Titan, It was destroyed or retired and then he briefly commanded this Titan…maybe only for the shakedown cruise…before stepping down. Possibly due to his child’s illness. 🤷🏻♂️ This would explain why his music is in the computer and why he has an affinity for the ship. I too would’ve preferred either a different name all together or at least a different registry for this new Titan. There are plenty of legacy names that are continued in Star Fleet that use new registries. The carryover registry should only be for VERY special ships like the Enterprise, but these new show runners seem to be going nuts with every name that has come before must now be continued with an A,B,C etc. Honestly, I kind of wish it was only the Enterprise that had that honor but it is a big fleet so 🤷🏻♂️ Chris
