I was not refering to the V.1 VF-1D I was talking about the current sculpt. There was some talk that they may have been refining it since it isn't very accurate ( canopy seems too bulbous and not long enough). I was stating that it hasn't changed, and me-no-likey..... it's too VT-1ish for my taste. Chris

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
Dobber replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You know if they put those two scenes in the movie Just as they were written there, I think it would have made the "fall" soooooo much better. Instead they were severly edited and much of Anakins feelings where just summed up with "IT's not FAIR!" Oh well. I think on screen it would have been maybe 5 minutes at most. Even Star Wars needs some dialog sceens and not constant battles and effects. Chris- 1217 replies

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Dobber replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I remember that too. It used to be on the main site but I can't find it anymore. I checked the old news section but there doesn't appear to be as much there anymore. Chris -
Doing that kind of wash has NEVER worked for me. Not saying it doesn't work, but I could never get it to work and I'm a fairly experienced modeler. Enamel thinner or Alcohol always removed the base coat no matter what I used or sealed it in. Tried mineral spirits too. I don't know what I must be odoing wrong but I've followed those steps before and it always ruined the under coat. I may also just be lucky too because I've never had a problem with different paint types. I almost exclusively use Acrylics now and pretty much always seal it with MM gloss/ flat excetra lacqure's, and never had a problem with it. I also sometimes use Tamiya clear which is glossy but have never seen a flat clear coat from tamiya except what comes in the little bottle. I tried spraying that on once, and it frosted my model. not sure what I was supposed to do there, but I've never seen a Tamiya flat clear coat in a can like thier "Clear" is but for flats. I've always just used MM flat lacqure with no problems on top of any paint type. Guess that's why I'm confused by this whole paint type thing, and how you shouldn't put one on top of another. Never gives my a problem. And yet, I can't get washes to work I seem to be opposite of every other modeler!! Chris

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

I've been wondering why we haven't seen any more pictures of this! WOW it looks great!!!! Thanks from me too! I wonder if the fast packs will have removable covers to show the detailing inside like the 1/48 and 1/60 v2 VF-1? That'd be sweet. Chris -
No problems here either with my Super/strike Roy 1S. I've asked before and didn't get an answer, but what pin is everyone refering to that is inserted the wrong way and causing the breakages? Now, my 1J is also perfect but I am having a problem transforing this thing it is SOOOOO tight. I'm having a really hard time getting the chest peice to move , I've actually had to take the nose on and off to get this thing transformed. Admitidly, I don't really mind casuse I'd rather it be too tight than too loose. Chris

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2

It's not that they changed the name of the Bontosaurus to Apatasourus, it's just that they figured out that the Brontosaurus never existed. I think the fossils that where originally identified as a brontosaurus where actually an Apatosarus body that happed to be found with a squashed diplodicus skull( making it harder to identify) or something like that. Good luck, I'll be watching too. I finished my Alto VF-25 a few weeks ago and now my VF-25S is just mocking me in my bedroom because it's a Christmas gift for me so I have to wait. I plan on building it up as a "proper" model ie completely painting it includeing the stripes....they didn't fit too well on the Alto version and had a tendacy to rip and peel during transformations (even after several clear coats!) Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2

I noticed that in all these reviews they seem to be focusing on Battroid pictures and not really showing fighter mode in many pictures at all and then the few shots they do show they are just the same old top view and 1/4 view from above. I want to see more fighter pictures damn it! I'm guessing they know fighter mode doesn't look so good so they won't show any other views. I get that a manufacturer only wants to show a product from it's best point of view, but never showing any thing new can also be just as damning as showing an off proportioned vehicle.....might even be worse because then people may start to wonder what they are trying to hide. Heck, we haven't even seen a 1 picture yet of the fast packs in vehical mode yet or Luca's RVF in fighter mode!! Not saying this to bash Bandai, I just want to see more of fighter mode and it's pissing me off that they only seem to show these to views all the time. Chris -

The section about the models, where they show, I'm assuming all the planned releases: http://www.toy-world.com.hk/maga/fk/03_2008/037.html Can someone tell me what it says under the Super version of Alto. Are they including that sweet SMS stand or is that going to be sold separetly? Chris -

Conceeded, but unfortunately if you make the Batt mode look chuncky the fighter mode suffers which is the case here. Can't make one look one way without the other also looking that way. Chris -

The intakes are just more "squared" in the drawing. No sleekness to them like would be used in fighter mode. Just more anime magic like the YF-21's legs from Batt mode to fighter mode. Chris -

Leg placement in Batt. mode was never a huge issue for me. Now the low hanging legs in fighter mode and the HORRIBLY inaccurate nose sculpt can't be wished away by an old drawing. Seriously guys, an old concept sketch of the VF-25 and you are using that as a reason for why the 1/60 looks the way it does. Chris -
Wife just called me and told me my VF-1J arrived from overdrive!!! I too had it shipped on tuesday!!! On a different note, can someone explain what pin they are talking about for the shoulders? Chris
-
My VF-25S just arrived!!! YAY! My wife, then promptly confiscated it since it is a Christmas gift for me. Boo. It would've been great timing seeing as I finsihed my VF-25F yesterday. Now that I have one of these bad boys under my belt, and know were things go and what is hidden and such, I'm going to fully paint and build the 25S in proper model fashion, including painting on the stripes which were the bigest headache for the Alto version for me. Now the wait for the Superpack version and the 25G and the RV25. I hope the'll do the Armored version as well. Any word on if they will be releasing the SMS display stand? Chris

I really liked it too, and was very glad they didn't use gadgets. In fact I remember most where happy that they didn't go overboard with them in the first one, so why the complaining about it now? A buddy of mine who is a big Bond fan said that in the books Bond didn't use all the silly gadgets that where used in the Majority of the movies anyway. Yes, Bond did get several people who where important to his investigation killed but 2 of them were unavoidable, either them or him, but he DID growin the end. Remember, he is still a new 00 agent, and this movie is a direct continuation of Casino Royal. He showed alot of maturity in the end and they did introduce a new nemisis in the form of this secret organization. Now that the Vesper thing is tied up things can move forward from here. Personally I'd give this one an A. Chris

I pre-ordered mine through Over-drive, and had to pay up front, but, my order still shows pending with no indication that I already paid. Is that normal with them? I never bought from them before. Chris

That design is by a guy named Gabriel Kroener (spelling). He made it a few years ago and was seen in the Star Trek Ships of the Line book. It keeps being called or mistaken for the new Enterprise but it is NOT. same with the profile orbital shot that's Gabe's. Wish his design was used but he has already publicly stated it is not the design, which we can now see with the first official image. Chris
