The nose shape isn't different, we are just seeing it from a different angle is all. Yamato seems to love that above 3/4 view as their first pic for just about every release and it's probably the worst angle IMO for the 1/60 v2 and the 1/48 because it really exagerates the wide looking canopies. Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

Actually Graham said it several times months ago. Chris -
I will admit that it looks better in that picture, BUT, still not what I was hoping for. After looking at the 1D in the picture and compairing it to the Max picture is the Canopy really any longer? I'm not complaining just I really don't think it is. It has been reshaped but I don't think it's longer. The rear edge that slopes up to the vertical back edge looks like it is more steep and the "roll bar" is obviously more forward and vertical but other than that, it doesn't look like it is longer. Cool for those that like it alot, I kinda do too, but I'm curious what you all think. Not bashing, just trying to look at it objectively and would like some objective opinions. Chris

Hey, sorry for taking so long, Ive been sick and then my daughter got sick so I haven't worked on the 51 again yet. However, I know people have been wanting to see pictures of Battroid mode so I took some quick shots again in various light settings. I plan to work again on it over Christmas since I'll be on vacation!! I still need to detail things in Batt. mode such as the face and various other details. I also have to paint the VTOL box and the outside of the stabs(I only have the fist stage blue on them at this point), paint the black bands that are near the front of the intakes, and then seal it. Also need to paint the weapon pods. I'm not used to making Batt mode poses, so if anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know and I'll take a picture to show off Chris

I'ts hard to tell if they did or not in the other pictures due to the angle, but I'll say this. Personally, I think they should make the Stabs larger, and let what remains stick out. I think it would give a balanced look since the VF-11 has the ventral fins in the same location as well, and you'd probably be left with about the same abount of "fin" sticking out of the top as you do on the bottom. I know it's not cannon, but it's not like Kawamori isn't known for retconning his desgins (dx VF-25, 1/60 YF-19. and the size of the VF-11, ect.) and in this instance I think it would be a good change, but that's just me. Others may hate that idea because they are Battroid purists and may hate the idea of having part of the stab sticking out of the back of the legs. Just an idea though and seems like a really simple change that wouldn't require any change in enginering of the toy just new molds of the V. Stabs. Chris -

Gah!!! I have to admit the Ozma DX (fighter mode) is really starting to grow on me. If the legs can move up another notch I may have to take the plunge. Chris -
Hey thanks guys for the kind words. let me see if I can answer some questions. yes this was my Ivanov, like Ghostkiller said, just take some parts off mask some others and gulp...spray! LOL This, like the 1/72, was hand painted. The only sparying I did was the primer (I used Tamiya Grey Surface primmer, since it's made for platsics and metals) and then the base coat of Testors Model Master Light Ghost Grey. Since the 1/60 has so many irregular surfaces I desided to free hand all the blues without masking. One of the things I still need to do is sharpen a few edges on the camo. Ghostkiller, thanks again BTW, for getting me to finally do this. My colors are: Base coat of Testors MM light ghost grey, the light blue is Testors Flanker Medium Blue, next darkest blue is Testors MM US Navy Blue Grey, and then the darkest blue is Testors MM Intermediate Blue. Oh yeah, the heat sheild is testors MM Gunmetal. If you need them I can get you the FS numbers later. Durability is pretty good just a few areas that seem to rub off alittle are mainly the wing root hinge. I plan on putting on Anti-UN markings. I don't think there are any decals available so I'll see how the stickers that came with the toy will look. If they don't look good I'll probably just paint on the major markings like the Anti-Un crosses and such. More pictures to come...including Battroid! Just want to get some of the detailing done to really make it POP! Thanks again everyone. Chris P.S. If some of you were serious, I MAY....MAY....be willing to do a few of these as commisions for you guys if time permits, but I'd have to see how things are after christmas. At any rate I'm very flattered and honored and want to say thnak you.

Hi evryone. Some of you may remember my custom Hasegawa 1/72 SV-51 in the Flanker splinter camo/ US Navy NSAWC scheme, which can be seen here about halfway down the page: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...-51&st=1340 Well, I decided to do the same to my Yamato Ivanov. Here are some quick picks I took just before I left for work today. It's still not done, but I wanted to show some pictures of her since she's nearly complete. Hope you like. Chris

I agree that Grimlock is kind-of meh. looks pretty much like his g-1 toy. Personally I think the entire movie line could use Materpeice treatment. A MP movie Starscream and Blackout would be Freaking awesome!! Chris

I too am hoping that the legs in fighter mode are just mistransformed...ie...they are being positioned straight instead of giving them that one last "click" up so that they'll sit up higher. Honestly, I wo't pretend that I've been a fan of this design, BUT, if the legs can be made to sit higher that would be a huge step in the diresction of me posible buying one. Now with all the speculation as to why this looks like that and such...I want to know why the nose cone looks so horrible with that horrible downward slope. If the legs can be positioned better, the nose cone will probably still kill the deal for me. The mega crotch of doom doesn't bother me as much as it does others. Chris -
