V remake - new TV series coming to ABC
Dobber replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I do!! It took me a bit to get used to it but the second clip she just looked SOOOO sexy! Chris -
Yup, I'm ashammed to say that the YF-21 is the only valk that I STILL can not transform...even with the directions. I don't even bother trying now because everythng needs to be JUST RIGHT for it to transform correctly, and I don't want to go through the agravation again. The 11 on the other hand is really fun...except for the lower heat sheild which I can not get without removing the escape pod first. Chris

Probably so, anyone remember if this was the case with the 1/72 kit? Either way I'm happy and getting one! If it is indeed variable I hope they don't just scale up the 1/72 kit and add some improvements like a way to lock the legs and wings in fighter mode, fix the wing root guns (since they don't sit well in fighter mode, and have a way to mount the gun in fighter mode without need the stand peice. Chris

Welcome to the board aquilon! I'm also a fighter mode guy and while I'd love this to be variable, I wouldn't mind it if it is just a straight fighter kit, it would probably help keep the cost down! Chris
-
Okie Dokie, I'll start! DROOOOOOL!!! I'm down for one variable or not. Problem is should I buy this one or wait for the inevitable VF-25S, or the VF-25 w/ super pack? Chris

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Dobber replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Variable or not, I'm getting one!! If it is variable, I too hope there are design improvements...namely: Locking mechanisms for the legs in fighter mode and the wings in fighter mode. Fixing the wing root guns, which don't sit flush in fighter mode, and a way to mount the gun in fighter mode without using a stand attachment. Damn Macross is REALLY making it hard to save for anything lately!! Chris -
Remember Graham did say all new VF. So would the VT-1c or VF-1 whale custom really fit? Chris Edited what graham said.

Possibly the VF-5000, VF-0D, VF-4..? What are the Valks seen in M7 Dynamite? That could help narrow the list, if Yamato does have the rights to it. Chris

JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
Dobber replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
David, that camo looks like the experimental one that I've seen the Jolly Rogers use. I'll see if I can scan a picture from one of my Tomcat books. I'll defer to your expertise though Chris -
JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
Dobber replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
WOW! I really like the weathering on it. Hope that is how the final product will look. I may have to bite on this too. Chris -
I tried, but it doesn't seem like there is enough wing clearance to allow it...at least not realistically. The fighters would be pretty much on top of one another. Chris

I finally got the diffintive VF-11!! It's just soo beautiful! Here a few pics of it on an new Yamato stand with my VF-1's...not including the Roy 1S Strike which is on a Flexi display stand on a shelf not pictured I will say that I like the new Stands....they are not perfect by any means but they aren't as bad as I was expecting. Yes, the swivle part does suck, but honestly if you display your Valks in fighter mode like me, the swivle is pointless. The VF-11 works great on the new stand as you can see. I can make it Roll and pitch without any problems. The VF-1 series also doesn't seem to have any problems...however, when you add the Fast packs onto the VF-1's, it adds a substantial amount of weight and does reuduce the amount you can get the Valk to roll before gravity takes over and the friction can't hold it any more. The positions I have them in in these pctures are solid. I can bang on the table and they won't fall or tip over. Main problems I have with these new stands are that you can't extend the "arm" like on a Bandai action display base so your valks are pretty much going to all be level because there just isn't that much difference in height by moving the "arm" up or down. The swivle is pretty useless, but I think that is more of an issue for Battroid mode people so I can't really judge it and maybe it will work if you know what you are doing. For other Vlaks like the larger and heavier VF-0 or YF-19 series, you probably cant do much with them other then a slight bank or incline due to their size and weight. Lastly I HATE using the attachment peices. Now this is not the stands fault but the attachment peices really just take away the ability to just take the Valk off of the stand and just zoom them around, and I find getting the damn peice on the Valk (particularly on the VF-1 series) a royal Pain In the Ass!. So if I were to compair these new stands with a Flexi-display stand. I would have to say I like these stands better. The do give you the abilityl to dsplay the valks in a roll or climb without any issues wher a Flexi stand pretty much just need to be straight and level unless you buy multiple stands with different arm lengths. The Flexis do have the edge in playability( no attachment peice required) and the base foot print is smaller. As it is I'll be buying a few more of these stands for my Roy 1S , Max 1A, and for any other future VF-11 or VF-1 I may buy. Hope this helps you guys. Chris

My big box of macross joy just arrived! VF-11, Max 1S, and 4 of the new stands. Haven't had a chance to play with them yet as I'm at work, but I'm very excited. Disappointed, though, that the stands sound like they are lemons (according to the stand thread.) I'll have to see how mine are. Chris

Yup I posted it back on page 18 Chris

I'd love to get one of them too. Though at these prices I 'd prefer a non-fastpack VF-11 option. Chris

I paid for mine wiht them 2 days ago, and still haven't gotten the shipping notice yet! That's the one thing about HLJ I don't like...sometimes they take a while to ship after you pay. Hopefully it won't be delayed due to Golden week. LOL! We should get you a Job with Sully and Mike at Monsters Inc. Chris
