  1. I'm about Half-way through the first book, I'm really loving it. I'm also suprised at how faithful...for the most part....the show has been to the book. Really looking forward to getting to the point in the book where I haven't seen it already on the show! Don't get why people get in such a fuss over books being made into movies, this series is another example of why I like it when they make shows or movies out of books, because whether it is good or bad it makes me want to read the source material that I otherwise would have never found. Starship Troopers, The Dresden Files, and the Old Man's War series are other examples. Favorite characters so far in both the show and books are Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, and Arya Stark. Really don't like Catelyn Stark at all just too...I don't know...stuck up. Plus as I wrote earlier hate how she treats Jon. I have a theory about who Jon's mother is: Chris
  2. Nice, but I think the intake looks a bit "blocky" not enough slope to them. Chris
  3. I think the VF-1 Vol. 2 also had a second release because I missed out on it's initial release but it came back in stock recently when I finally got it. Chris
  4. Looking good, Guess I'll have to wait for a rerelease since it's pre-order stop most places. I wasn't sure between this or the 19 Kai, but this is looking very good as did the Kai (just can't stand the colors of the Kai)but while the Kai is still available just about everywhere, likely due to it's freaking ridiculous price, the 29 is a bit more affordable but sold out. Chris
  5. Me too, though I'll take blue over red any day. With that being said I've still been finding it hard to resist this toy. I really hope patience does pay off for either that VF-19P, which looked awesome btw, or a discounted Kai at some point. I like this design better than the F/S design....I prefer the long wings and canards of the Kai/E/P to the Blazers. Chris
  6. Glad you guys are getting your long awaited VF-17, but for the life of me I can't see the appeal of it....it's an ugly little F@#*er!! Chris
  7. That was pretty cool! Nice stop motion. Love the Nod to the 0's arm problem! LOL! Chris
  8. Anyone know where to get another 1/72 Sylph kit? HLJ says backordered, yellow box, so I placed an order but not confident they will get one. Don't know if that SMS one is a reliable source since it is a recast afterall. Chris
  9. Those evil Sith-Lords! Chris
  10. Wow, you weren't kidding! GORGEOUS pictures!!! That's how they should be done! Thanks Reïvaj!! Chris
  11. LOL! Ya' know, I was actually thinking the same thing! Chris
  12. I was under the impression that the VF-17was officially announced.....so WHEN can we have a thread to discuss it, especially since it's a no no to create another similar thread when a previous one was locked. Agreed that some explination would have been nice. Anyone know who locked it? Was it Graham? Chris
  13. Was wondering the same thing? Chris
  14. It' a term that means Leading Edge Root eXtension. It describes the area where the wing's front part (leading edge)is given an increased area or extension where it connects to the fuselage. F/A-18's, F-16's, Su-27's are good examples of modern military aircraft with pronounced LERX's. Chris
  15. As Raptor One said.... I was refering to the stickers in the post I quoted. Chris Me too. While not a fan of the color scheme, I can admit that this really does look quite nice. Chris
  16. Got my copy yesterday. It's FANTASTIC!!! much better then the last VF-1 edition which was a bit too text heavy for my liking. This book is a great addition to the series!! I wonder what will be next. Also love the section on the history of the Variable fighters with the pictures of several different types all flying in formation. The VF-171 looked fantastic. Chris
  17. While that's nice and all.....the color is still bright red and yellow so what's the point? Chris
  18. LOL! :lol:Frankly, they both look pretty big in the rear but that is just the design of the 19 series. The old YF-19's raised neck just looks weird to me....though I will say that the Kai's cockpit looks off to me like maybe just a bit too small, the canopy that is. I was wondering why all the extra stickers too, not like you can do anything with them since we can't change the color of the fighter. Chris I gotta admit that after watching the video above this thing is really growing on me colors and all. It looks really nice in that high gloss finish...like a show-bird. Is that the finsh that the mass produced toy will be in? I remember seeing pictures of the YF-21 that had it have a really high gloss but the actual toy in hand just look like standard blue plastic. Chris
  19. Wow, that one picture comparing the two fighter mode profiles really show how horrible the yf-19 is! It's amazing so many of us tolerated it! The difference in quality is almost the same as the 1/72 to the 1/60. Chris
  20. I was afraid they were going to VF-1 us with no pilot for a minute but then found one included on the parts tree. Nice marking choices!! Chris edit : Woops can be seen in the landed build also. My bad.
  21. I like how they included some squadron markings too. Looks like 1 of mine will be out of box and the other a digi-camo. Chris
  22. I was always good at those too, never saw that before really cool! Chris
  23. Great work, like others have said the sculpt of the kit is really nice but the hip guns and engine sag are what really screws this kit up. Too bad Bandai didn't make a locking mechanism for the wings and engines so they would stay in the correct position. Again, great work!! I like her! Chris
  24. Here are some older crappy pictures that I took of my VF-19. The pictures really wash out most of the subtle weathering and panel grit that I put into this kit....one photo does kinda show it, but then of course you can also see the floor! Like I said in the VF-22S thread I suck at taking pictures of my models and most of my efforts usually get washed out...I tend to go for subtly in weahtering that I can't seem to ever get to show in my pictures. I'll atempt to take more but figured what the heck I'll show these till then. The scheme I used for this model is in the back of the Master File book. Interesting thing about this build is that only the Ejection seat stencils and UN Spacy markings are decals. The rest: Aircraft Number, Squadron number, Shamrock, and Intake warning markings are all hand painted. I couldn't find any low Vis decals that worked right so I just did it my self. Chris
  25. Figured I show what I've been up to lately. I haven't really posted pics of my models becasue I SUCK at taking pictures. I took me most of the day but here are some pictures that are OK of my Hasegawa kit. Freaking HATE taking pictures of my models because they never look right!! Hope you still like them anyway. I have a few other Macross kits I've finished or will be finished soon that I'll try to get some desent pics of too. Finished ones are the 1/48 VF-19 custom and the Bandai YF-29 Alto. Soon to be finsihed is my Bandai 1/100 VF-25 in a custom scheme. More pictures are here: http://s137.photobuc...oters%20VF-22S/ Thanks for Looking, Chris edit: Crap didn't realize that my picture sizes were that big....the photo bucket link will have them all at better sizes.
