  1. I agree with The White Drew Carey, don't see what the big deal is with the spoilers. Especially with what has come before in Trek. To each their own I guess. Chris
  2. Thanks Westfall, yeah the new site has archived articles but doesn't go back far enough to update #2 which is where I believe the article is with the interview with the designers stating the info. I did find something in the archives that stated it again though...near the bottom under the picture of the 1/1000 kits box art. http://web.archive.org/web/20120903060423/http://www.starblazers.com/html.php?page_id=105 You know how some people can be though...they ARE right because they didn't know and until they see deffinative proof...ie the article...I doubt they will believe. Here is what was exchanged: Me: "Problem is, that the 1/500 kit is technically the first Yamato 2199 kit. The design is of the 2199 version of Yamato so the kit is really about 1/624 with 2199 Yamato's length at 333m. " Response: "Calling this kit the 2199 Yamato is a stretch- especially since it was released to coincide with the 2010 live-action SBY movie. To me, it's simply an modern-tool version of the original 78' 1/500 Yamato. At 530mm, it's dead on for the original Yamato's 265M length. (It's not a scaled-down version of the 1/350. There are big differences) Besides, the fighters that come with the 1/500 Yamato aren't the 2199 versions. Cosmo Zero (short version), Cosmo Tiger, Black Tiger. Interview of Bandai Model developer on ourstarblazers.com Me: "Not a stretch at all. It IS designed off of the 2199 ship. It was released when the movie came out and has no resemblance to the movie ship and i never mentioned or compaired it to the 1/350 kit. I have read that article and all the articles from ourstarblazers.com. Yes it does come with the old fighter designs since the kit came out before 2199 was released. If Starblazers.com didn't go under I would show you the article that stated that the new 1/500 kit used the 2199 design. The article was published around the time the 1/1000 2199 Yamato was comming out. Here is a link to the discussion at MacrossWorld. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35927 There is a link to Starblazers.com about 3/4 the way down the page. Unfortunately it doesn't work. You'll see me point out that the 1/1000 is the same design as the 1/500. Someone else states that they read up on it and that I was absolutely right that they used the same design. I really wish I could show you that article from the designers, but alas I can not so you'll probably still not believe me. Also here is a post by the same person that said he read the article after he built the 1/500 kit. Halfway down the page. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35927 Comparison pictures between the 2 kits. Note the rear hangar area below the 3rd turret. It is a solid box like area that protrudes out off the hull. Older versions of Yamato have a triangular cut out there and is more blended with the hull. Which can be seen in a photo in the link above. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q222/cd821/d191be6562bb5c007d98a7ca4c2f2b9d_zps262f9e07.jpg Then there is this post from Hobbytalk by Steve H as he describes all the Yamato ship kits. "Then the recent 1/500 (new tool) Yamato, again almost 2 feet long. This was brought out to ride the coattails of the Live Action Yamato movie but isn't connected to that at all. It attempts to correct what I consider the flaws of the 1/350th kit (so maybe I wasn't alone in those beliefs!) and does a very credible job. However, I find it still overdone to a point, and lo, it's because it was actually a 'trail run' for the revised scale Yamato for the current Yamato 2199! Note that as a modern kit I'm sure lighting it would be much easier. http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN965514" From here: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=380559 " Not sure what else I can do as other responses seem to be siding with him and thanking him for the info and such. Don't care if I'm wrong...it's just I'm not in this case. I just get kind of tired of either being ignored or called out on this other site. Chris
  3. Anyone know where to find the article that stated that the new 1/500 Yamato Kit is the 2199 ship? The link at the start of this thread don't work since Starblazers.com is gone. Someone on another forum is telling me I'm wrong and I want to educate him. Chris
  4. The only part of that article that I agree with and have been thinking about also since I saw it in the 3rd trailer is the bit with Loise talking about the symbol. Really does seem a bit arrogant and insulting to "correct" an alien being on what that symbol is/means. Chris
  5. this is from the Dengeki Hobby that had the mini kit. Kato's Falcon is the grey one with orange flaps, white trim, and black tail. Standard is the blue with yellow trimm accents. I'm assuming Shinohara's ride will be part of the standard release or a separate one....it is essentially the standard color scheme but with black flaps and tail surfaces and some trimming on the nose area but still has some of the yellow trim of the cannon fodder version, and of course the Shark mouth. Chris
  6. Awe crap! You're right. Should have said Seagull. Oops. Chris
  7. Yeah no kidding! 2199 alone will have the Polmeria next month, the Gaederol in June, Cosmo Falcon in July, then another Falcon and Meltoria in Sept! Not to mention the blu-ray in May and July! Yeesh! Hopefully you are right about the Domelus III in November, then I'll just need the Haizeraad class possibly with the new torpedo ship?? Then I should be done with Capital ships, but the 1/72 scale will continue....type 100 scout, Cosmo Pelican, and at least 4 different Gamila fighters!! Chris
  8. Thanks for the info, though, someone on another site stated that Kato's Falcon would be in July with the standard version in September. Chris
  9. If anyone is getting the UN Fleet set 2 and don't want the included Yamato decals please let me know. I need them for my next Yamato and bandai didn't bother including the Yamato decals with the Yamato kit! Chris
  10. Gentlemen..... I give you the Bandai 1/72 Cosmo Falcon coming soon!
  11. Yeah I've thinking about this too for a while now too...that it's ok to COMPLETELY alter the course of a primitive civilization by stopping the eruption but spotting the Enterprise is where the line is crossed regarding "interfering". Very much want to see this move and am really excited about it, but that seems a bit contradictory. Maybe they will address it in the movie. Chris
  12. Yeah, reading will lead you to he BIGGEST theory that we..the readers....are still waiting to have confirmed. R+L=J Chris
  13. Outstanding! Chris
  14. Personally, I see NOTHING of the Galaxy Class in this new ship. It also seems to have, or can have an open primary hull. Reminds me of the Old April Fools Enterprise design that came out before the first JJ movie. And.. Chris
  15. Sooo.......with all the rumors about Mr. Cruise......what are the odds they change the planet and Air Forces name?! LOL Honestly, I wouldn't mind that change either.
  16. Fricking awesome trailer! And yeah....much bigger! There's talk it is a Dreadnaught. Kirk "I'm sorry". Oh crap! Chris
  17. I'm optimistic as well. The books were quite a bit easier to understand than the anime. Chris
  18. Hi, yes this is the new Bandai 1/72 kit for Yamato 2199. The folded wings is an optional configuration in the kit. It includes all parts needed to have the wings folded...though I found the hinge pieces to be a bit bulky so I modded mine so the hinges are smaller. The kit comes colored with the red nose yellow trim but the hull is grey when it should be a bare metal. Even if everything was pre colored I personally paint my models fully...always looks better that way.Chris
  19. Anyone with an extra CF on order interested in a straight up trade for a VF-171 EX? I haven't preordered the CF because I only want one 171 and prefer the CF. My EX is in perfect condition and never been transformed been displayed out of sunlight on it's stand. Still have the box and all contents. Chris
  20. Thanks for the heads up! Ordered both. I think they saved the best jacket art for the last three volumes. Chris
  21. Yay! A long last my 30th Anniv. YF-29 has arrived! No missing parts or bent antenna either. Love it! One thing, though, after all the pictures that people have posted I never noticed that the wing engines are a totally different color of black. While the airframe detail/stripes are a very dark grey/black, the wing engines are more of a gun metal that have kind of a brownish hue to them. Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I must have missed it. Chris
  22. Thanks MechTech, if you and your son are Yamato fans you'll both LOVE Yamato 2199! Chris
  23. OMG, don't I know it! Also don't forget an updated Cosmo Tiger II or something to replace the Cosmo Falcon. I think this is the first time, for any movie or series, that I have/will buy every model that comes out and to hopefully get an updated Earth Fleet would be exceptional!Chris Edit: though the down side would mean the death of our beloved Yamamoto.
