Toy-wise the only differences will be an off white - very light gray color for the DYRL VF-1's and the pilots will have the DYRL flight suits. While the tv versions will be white and have the tv style pilots. "Actual" differences between the 2 would also include a different cockpit and the redesigned canopy and canopy frames. Mechanical looking hands for the movie version while the TV version would have the rounded cartoonie hands. The DYRL canopies have a "lip" with vents at the front where the canopy meets the nose seen here: http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossdyrl/vf-1a-fastpack/vf-1-dyrl-cockpit2.gif Where as the tv version was smooth and blended. Here is a thread that shows the difference between all 3 versions (tv, movie, and Macross the first comic) scroll down to post #80 to see all 3. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34601&page=3&hl=%2Bdyrl+%2Bcanopy#entry895486 Image from above thread:

Dredd 3D - in theaters Sept. 21, 2012
Dobber replied to Zor Primus's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Cool! I really liked Dredd Chris -
Curious why a new design team would not look at what a different team did....to get ideas and/or watch for pitfalls ect. Would it be due to pride or would it be considered something like plagiarism? Chris

So nice to wake up and see that the item went on sale a day early and still go to NY and place a pre-order. No muss no fuss. Chris

Thanks IXTL, like Mommar, those other images weren't loading for me either. Chris

I'm with you guys. I couldn't care less about having high-speed mode, and if it compromises other things to achieve it...as David pointed out....it will be a big turn off. Not sure why people are sooo jazzed for it.? Also, like David said, the YF-21 delimiter mode was more prevalent in Mac plus, caused a lot of issues with it's 1/60, and I don't recall EVER seeing anyone use that gimmick. Chris

I thought the books were good as well. Not great literature or any thing but still good fun reads. I've noticed lately there is a trend going on around here of people just dismissing things with the "no" comment. Never giving anything a chance. Pretty juvenile IMO. Not saying everyone will love whatever is being talked about...but as Myk points out....look where we are. Glass houses....stones? Chris

Sorry Duymon, my comment wasn't directed at you. I understand they still send reminder emails, what I am getting at is if people are worried/waiting it is completely unnecessary. I have also gotten all but my first 2 bandai renewals from them and have paid for my first few orders when the invoices came out under the old system and then just started paying on the release month when it was getting close to being released. Never had a problem. I just see people every time a release is coming, start asking or wondering where their invoice is and it isn't necessary. I fact it just gives them more work because they have to send reminders to everyone who can't be bothered to pay on their own. Chris
-
Why are you waiting for a pre-order reminder? On the front page of the site it has in red letters a notice about the new preorder system they've been using since dec. you can pay at anytime from your account page. Chris

For me, it started with Rataouille. Maybe I just have his feeling because all of my least favorite Pixar movies just came in a row from there; Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3 (admittedly not bad just sick of Toy story and all the hype it had), and Brave. Sadly though, I like Cars 2..... a bit more than the original actually, and I really liked Monsters U too. I guess that 3 movie stretch of Ratatouille, Wall-E, and Up gave me the artsy feeling. Not bad movies.....just.....it's hard for me to put into words, they just have an air about them. My favorite is still the Incredibles. Chris

Agreed, Pixar always gives me the "we're trying too hard to be artsy" feeling. I felt Toy Story 3 was HIGHLY overrated the year it came out....which IIRC was the same year as Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon, which where both, IMO, much better movies.Anyway DM2 was great, loved it also. The biggest visual differences, for me, are: 1) The area behind the launch rails for the Cosmo zeros. The 2199 version has a more boxy area that actually protrudes from the sides of the ship while the tradition design is more blended with the hull and also has a triangular cut out in it. 2) The wave motion gun barrel on the 2199 version is much more narrow, while the traditional version is very bulbous. There are lots of other little things and details all over the ship, but those are most noticeable to me. Personally I much prefer the 2199 version. But she is also supposed to be bigger than what the Yamato used to be. It's now 333m! Chris

This. I don't think anyone was comparing NY to Amiami, just to Cd Japan and NY original price. IIRC CDJ was $144 and NY was $148.Chris
-
Yeah, went back to bed at 4 am woke up again at 4:45 saw the NY and bought one. $13 dollar mark up isn't bad at all. After Eco registered shipping which I usually use with them any way (takes about a week to week and a half) it came out less then cd Japan would have with slow-mo SAL....or about even. Glad I held back on CD Japan. Don't get the aversion some have with NY....it was only a $13 mark up!? Chris

Yeah, thought that was a bit smug too, he edited it though
