100% agree It doesn't even sound like he trashed the movie either....just won't support it. So what. Chris

I don't get it? A few pages ago, most everyone were all excited about this and wanting it. We all knew what this was going to look like as it has been well documented already. If someone thought it was a pure renewal and ordered it, then that is their mistake, as this thread has, SEVERAL times, gone over exactly what this release was. Just confused by the sudden hate?? I'm loving Adventure Time as well. Always overlooked it but my kids started watching it and now we all watch. Also, for those of you that watch, did you know there is a snail in every episode. It's a fun game you can play with the kids or friends to see who can find the snail first. Chris

Thanks, I'm getting really close now...just need to finish the nacelle paneling, then some touch up/ detail painting, paint the deflector, and then decal. Paneling will take the longest. I got replacement decals for the registry and name as the ones with the kit where incorrect....plus a lot of the detail decals that came with the kit where far to bright or the gray striping was too dark so that is why I painted them on instead. The cool thing about the new registry decals is that they also include alternate decals....not different ship names but extra decals so you can mark the ship more like TOS or the movie Refit. I'm going to use the refit style extras and put the registry and name on the bottom of the saucer (hated how the JJprise had the blank saucer under side) and put the ships name on the fan-tail instead of NCC-1701 (also something I didn't like since most ships real or otherwise, put the ships name on the stern.) There will also be a large full decal set with panels and Aztecing comming soon so I have a second kit I'll use that with when they are available...but this one will be unique. Those decals can be found /bought here: http://www.pntmodels.com/ I also made custome fan blades for inside the Bussard collectors....the kit doesn't have anything in there except a decal. My blades are perfect...bit they get the job done. they can't be seen now since they are all masked up in the nacelles but here are early shots from earlier in the build. Early in the construction: After everything was painted and built: Chris

Ahh, gotcha. I've been drawing all my life so I guess I have an eye for it plus Chronocidal also hits the nail on the head. I just work one section at a time And did most of the paneling before the halves are assembled, this gives me a flat stable side to rest on the table. i'm just careful where i place my hands to avoid smudging. when I have a good amount done i give it a spray of flat clear to seal and protect the pencil work. Once it is dry then i can touch it anywhere without worrying about smudging anything. The nacelles are a little harder as they are smooth with no grid lines. Plus they are already built so I don't have a flat side to rest on the table. I built these first before paneling because there where too many parts that needed to go together and would require a lot of sanding and puttying. He are the nacelles and what the assembled saucer looks like.Chris

Sure, this is the first time I have used this technique...it's kind of an experiment. I'm using artist pencils and blending sticks. I start by using the lightest shade of pencil....in this case 9H. What this does is prevents the pencil from going on too dark accidentally.i just draw on the pattern or shapes I want. Then I lightly shade in panels with the same pencil or if needed a darker version. Then I use the blending stick, which is pretty much just a cardboard rod that is sharpened, and carefully blend the shaded area together to get a uniform shade. If needed I'll touch up the panels edges and or use an eraser pencil to clean up any mistakes. I've been pretty pleased with the results so far. I like how using the pencils allows me to change the darkness of the panels on the fly....so I can have a lot of subtle variations. Here are my pencils. Chris

Ha! Nope all free hand. Currently working on the nacelles. I'll take a picture and show you all the progress. Thanks for the compliments guys! Chris

Huh...haven't heard of that one either. Got my Garmilla fleet set 2 a few weeks ago and it wasn't with that. My Kato Cosmo Falcon is in my HLJ private warehouse atm, waiting for the Gelvates battle carrier to be released first. Chris

No, the Aztec pattern wasn't on the hull. I put it on the hull. The model just comes in plain white plastic. Chris

Can the gunpod be mounted when it is on the stand in fighter mode? That round connection point looks awfully big. Chris Edit:Never mind, the pictures in the Hikaru thread show it with the gun pod attached.

Wow! So many awesome build guys! I keep forgetting about this thread. Sooo many talented builders here. Always get new ideas and info from our collective experiences. @505th awesome Mercury class and I also love your Vipers. I have lots of BSG kits I need to get to at some point. @wiz, your 25 is looking great! Keep the pictures comming. @007, LOVE that shuttle. Strange that I kind of prefer that one to the Lamda class. @Derex, your Viper is looking awesome. Nice work with the front office. This is what I've been working on the past few months. It's Revell of Germany's New Enterprise. I'm a little further along than what is seen in these pictures, just haven't taken any pictures recently. All the paneling and "Aztecing" is done free hand with artist pencils.

I only found it on Amazon.jp no release date yet. I'll just watch for it on HLJ as A.jp is pricey on shipping, as you know. I'd love to see how your Zero would look. I found the second one I built went much smoother. Still have 2 more to build! Lol! Chris Edit: OK this is strange the link I keep posting to the book at Amazon.jp keeps getting dropped out of my post. Never had that happen before. Well since the board won't let me post the link (for some reason) just find the earth book on A.jp and there is a link to the Garmilla book in the earth book listing. The part that has the buy both together option. No images of it yet.

Yeah, I noticed that too...the shipping. Still waiting for it to arrive from Amazon.jp. That's where I saw the Garmilla book for preorder. Wasn't aware HLJ carried it. I'll have to cancel with amazon.jp Chris

Box art and picture of the completed kit of the Gelvates class battle-carrier. One of the best box art yet, IMO. attachment=105857:image.jpg Found here: http://blog.yahoo.com/cybergundam/articles/1275236/index Chris

Space Pirate Captain Harlock" CG Movie, Autumn 2013
Dobber replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first 12 mins now with english subtitles: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kYjqN-mOKi4&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DkYjqN-mOKi4 Really like this so far, but I know nothing of Harlock other than some of the vehicles, ie the Arcadia and Space Wolfs. So, is there a recommended series, movie, or OVA to start with. Sometimes starting a new anime can be daunting especially one that has been around for so long. Plus sometimes older anime's animation can be a bit off putting. Thanks for any suggestions. Chris- 182 replies

Ummm....just 4 posts up... Chris

IIRC the the forearm panels have a different cross section too.... the part that touches the shoulders when the arm is straight...like for fighter mode. One is flat, while the other has a slight U shape. Chris

I'd be really surprised if they had 2 NEW items in development. RE-issues though would be cool.

Since my original reply to his post may have been missed...Forgot to include the different hands also for the toys Chris
