  1. I also don't think the Jedi were as known as we think they were, even in the PT. Yes, people heard of Jedi, but how many actually saw one....much less saw one doing something with the Force. I think, even when the Jedi were in their prime, many people were still ....skeptical of what a Jedi could do. With most of it being stories told from one generation to the next, ect. Then after the purge it did just quickly fade to rumor and myth...hence Han's line "hokey religions and ancient weapons..." or the Admirals "sad devotion" line.... and would quickly start thinking the stories of their abilities where exaggerations ect. Hell, even Tarkin looked slightly facinated with what Vader was doing to the Admiral. Plus add in whatever propaganda the Empire through in and, bingo into the abridged history books they go. That's how I view it anyway. Chris
  2. I really wish the FFG Star Destroyer was the same size as the Tantive model, which I also have. It would've been perfect. Chris
  3. While I don't like having to wait longer, I do like the idea of Star Wars at Christmas time. I always take my vacation time around Christmas and it just makes one more thing to look forward to around the holidays. Chris
  4. Ok here is a compairison review of the Disney Diecast and the Fantacy Flight Games Star Wars Armada Imperial Stardestroyers. As you can see the detailing on the FFG ship is definately superior but that's not to say the Disney version is bad either. Now where the FFG may have more fine detail it also comes with a pretty heavy wash. The Disney is also slightly larger and I also feel the FFG is a little stubby looking compared to the Disney which I feel has more of the correct shape of the Star destroyer. The Disney also has a much better reactor dome but the FFG does come with a stand, which also happens to attach at the dome. The FFG also has these strange raised "brace-like" details that stretch across the hull horizontally. This detail is not on the SD as far as I know. IMO, both models would benefit from a repaint....the Disney to detail it up a bit and the FFG to time it down a little. For their respective prices, I feel the Disney is the better buy at $20. It is a little more lacking in detail but I love the overall shape and slenderness of the ship compared with the FFG which comes in at $50-$60. Note the "braces" stretching across the hull Note the missing detail on the Disney SD In formation with the FFG Victory class SD
  5. I have both the Disney and the FFG Armada Mini. Between the 2 I prefer the Disney Diecast one. It is a little larger and I think a little better proportioned. The Armada mini looks just a tad stubby to my eye. It does, however get points for the better paint job, even if it is a bit heavy handed with the wash and also some better detailing in the trenches and super structure. The Disney one just needs a little TLC with a quick repaint and it'll be great. It has the nice long and slender prow that is missing from most SD replica's. Plus it's about $20-$30 cheaper than the Armada mini. I can post comparison pic's of the 2 if you'd like. Chris
  6. If you are referring to the Disney SD. The lower part of the tower IS molded. The product photo is wrong. I have 2 of them. Chris
  7. Whoa! That is an impressive build. Chris
  8. And once again you are calling people idiots, personally insulting people is against forum rules. Also, I had no problem following what was going on in the movie and at the time had not read any extra supplemental material. Would a little more explanation about the Resistance and the Republic have helped...sure, but it is not needed and that is the only thing that comes close to being a gray area. Plus, scenes doing just that where filmed and then edited out for pacing. Not because of some nefarious plot, but because of pacing decisions by the director. People bitched and moaned about the political stuff in the Prequels and also in the random episodes that cropped up in The Clone Wars series. Now people are complaining about there not being any in this movie. I guess you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Everything else is just extra that isn't required, like how StarKiller base works... ie how the "beam" seems to travel across the Galaxy so fast ect.. If people could accept the DeathStar's laser beam shooting out and stopping at a fixed point and then combining without a "focus" or a light saber only extending out a few feet, ect... then I don't see why there is suddenly such a problem with anything of this. If you want to know why it worked the way it worked, then it's out there in Canon material. I will agree, though, that if Disney where to require multimedia to get a whole picture for the movie that would stink. I just don't think that is happening here, but that's just me. Chris
  9. Not sure why you feel the need to insult those of us that like the movie and want to learn more about it. If you don't like it that's totally fine. But if you are so pissed about it that you have to call people idiots because we don't mind learning more....just like we did for the OT, then maybe you should move on.
  10. Avatar is James Cameron, but I agree....really not a fan of Avatar. I think it was highly overrated. Different strokes, though. I loved TFA but there are some here that hate it. I thought I heard Avatar was also moving....I could be wrong though. Chris
  11. I must be in the extreme minority, while I like JJ and am glad it has a second season I really didn't think it was as good a lot of you guys think it is
  12. Fair point....but let's face it there are plenty of show's out there that revolve around shitty people doing bad things like SOA, Shameless, and Breaking Bad to name a few, that are wildly successful. It's why I couldn't get into any of those shows, I hated the characters. BUT, for some reason it doesn't bother me here, maybe because it's not based in reality so to speak. Where as gangs, a-hole neighbors/families, and drug dealers ect are all very real. So I can just enjoy these bad guys. Dunno. Chris
  13. IMO, there are no advantages to raised panel lines....they are completely inaccurate and an eye sore. Which would be why kits have pretty much universally transitioned to recessed/scribed panel lines. Chris
  14. Problem with the Tamiya Tomcat is it has raised panel lines. Chris
  15. Though.... I will say that it does give new layers to the scene in Empire when Chewie starts freaking out in the the Carnonite chamber with 3P0 on his back. Boba Fett raises his blaster to shoot him but Vader stops him by forcing his blaster down. Maybe he didn't want his old Droid blasted. I don't think he really gave a crap about a Wookie Chris EDIT: Oops, Negotiator mentioned it already.
  16. Full size classic T-65 X-wing from Rogue one set. Looks sweet! From here: http://pulse.therpf.com/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-x-wing-photos Chris
  17. Sweet! I have that kit too but haven't opened it yet. Looks like it goes together well. Chris
  18. Yeah, the ANH X-wings have a LOT of differences...mainly in markings ect. Though Biggs' Red 3 has some key structural differences like a shorter differently shaped nose cone and 1 shorter engine. The old Fine Molds model actually got most of the structural differences, and gave options for whichever Red squad X-wing you would want EXCEPT the biggest one the nose! The 1/72 Bandai kit was, as far as I know, the first mainstream model kit to have an accurate nose for Red 5 (which incidentally all other X-wings besides Red 3 have) all the other kits use the short Red 3 nose. Chris I'm pretty sure the FM 1/48 X-wing is based on the big 5ft model of Red 3 that was never used in film. Which is just silly because everyone markets Luke's Red 5 but no one until Bandai made an actual Red 5 kit. Lol! Most people don't know or care so I get it...but once you know, you can't un-know. Chris
  19. I would agree with that if it was just the Blue Squadron X-wings but Poe's Black 1, both CG model and full size prop, have 3 Orange stripes and 2 grey. It makes no sense. I really am NOT bashing JJ or the the designers or who ever made these decisions, as I LOVE this movie, but it does seem similar to things that were done with JJ's Star Trek, where they just obviously didn't understand the details for things. That's where the ignorance comes in. Chris
  20. Good question David, PERSONALLY, I'm taking it as ignorance or laziness on the modelers part. I have 5 bandai T-70 kits and plan on marking them with different numbers of stripes on the wings and nose. Officially, though, I don't think this has been addressed. Chris
  21. Thanks I agree, let me guess about the stupid idea....Kira/Rey, flying in an X-wing with the Canopy off, slicing into a Star Destroyer with her light saber!? If so, I thought that too! Either the Saber had one REALLY long blade to get through the hull of a capital ship or the Star Destroyer has REALLY thin Armor!
