  1. Is it just me? I was watching DYRL (for the nth time) and it just occurred to me. I don't have the dvd's with me right now, but I thought I saw Max's VF-1S as purple-striped, rather than the blue-stripes he's got with his 1A. I know there a shots of his VF-1S as having blue-stripes, too. His helmet was also purple while piloting his VF-1S. I guess I was wondering also why his Q-Rau was purplish instead of Blue-ish.
  2. Rev up and prepare your VHS, TiVO, PVR, or whatever. Buy tapes or hard-disks or whatever. It's a marathon of the best show on US-tv today: MXC -Most eXtreme elimination Challenge for those that don't know, yet, it's the hilariously English-dubbed version of the already hilarious Takeshi Castle series of the 90's. Starts at 9am ET/PT on 4-1-04. Right you are, Ken!
  3. There's no Bandai announcement about a UC-box. Most UC-fans like me have been clamoring for a UC-box, like the old vhs-box that housed 0080 and 0083. Bandai had reduced the pricing on existing Gundam-titles in region-1 territory and will be re-releasing it next month or so. fwiw, now is the time to get UC-titles. Here's TRSI sales-page for all Gundam dvd's (UC/AC): http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/ca...s/desc/asc/50/1 If you have a GotAnime membership, it'll be even cheaper.
  4. Just an fyi for the AzuDai fans here. I posted this at AOD-forum earlier. The Azumanga Daioh episode-1 is included in the dvd of the April-04 issue of Newtype-USA magazine. It includes the english-dub and the japanese-dub/english-subs of the series. -- Well, I finally watched it last nite and boy, oh, boy! Talk about a surprising, yet disappointing and craptacular english-dubbing for a known premiere anime series. My thoughts... I'm not gonna mince words. The english-vocals on Kaorin, Koyomi, Tomo, Sakaki, Yukari and Chihiro were all sucktacular. They were all overacting and total miscasts. Tomboyish Tomo now sounds like a trying-hard-to-be-tomboyish-failing-miserably-at-it. Sakaki and Koyomi sounded like disgruntled fish-vendors who rather not be there. Yukari's was so fake in cynicism. Kaorin and Chihiro both sounded trying-to-be-too-cute-but-just-being-irritating. On a more positive note, Chiyo's and Osaka's dubs were tolerable-to-ok. Chiyo's need a little more feelings, tho. Having listened to Abenoboshi-dubs before, I was prepared for Osaka's Texas/Arkansas accent and surprisingly was not turned off by the performance. It's a good thing the Newtype-disc included the AzuDai japanese-dubs and the Comic-Party ep-1, and the fact that I bought Kiddy-Grade vol-2 along with it. Especially Kiddy-Grade vol-2. It helped prevent me from kicking my speakers off my ent-center. ------ --treatment--
  5. fyi. Bandai's gonna show off an entire episode (prolly ep-1) at tomorrow's Wizard World convention at Long Beach (l.a., southern california). The schedule was at 10:30am, but it might have changed or not. I ain't going, but any other so-cal MWer's attending, let us know of the dubs.
  6. Unless they can predict the future, giant beings from outer space haven't appeared to humans yet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only aliens the humans know about at this point in Macross Zero is that... thing... that crashed on Earth. The birdman. the entire reason for building the valkyries was so humans could do hand to hand combat with the giant aliens. they knew to make the valks because when the SDF crashed and they inspected the thing, it was clearly designed for giants. in the show they even have a few screens of huge doors retro fitted with tiny walkways for the humans. THE main reason i like the valks is that they arn't ambiguously made to fight other big robots, they have a PURPOSE for being the way they are. and Mac Zero is stepping all over that. I'm not so sure about Macross Zero stepping all over the purpose since from all the available episodes, it seems like the purpose (fighting Giants) were already established. It's just that the Anti-UN forces disagreed with the UN (hence the civil war) and developed their own version of the transforming fighter. Nora even revealed in ep-2 about the Anti-UN developing the change-system first and that the UN stole it from them.
  7. animesuki.com. Get the Anbu for ep1, and Infusion for ep2 and ep3. you'll need bittorrent client-software. it's in the site.
  8. I hope not. ST movie should not have been made. Period. That said, I think this new movie will do ok. It will prolly rattle many of the Azimov readers. Who knows. We'll have to wait until Summer to give a good judgement on it. fwiw, I always envisioned Harrison Ford as Elijah Bailey ever since Blade Runner was released. At this day and age, however, prolly only Ethan Hawke can portray Elijah if they go strictly by the book.
  9. uhmm, you should read the Azimov books/novels, then. There's enough situational, atmosphere and environment background-stuff in Azimov's books to get presented with what they're doing with this I, Robot movie. I haven't seen the trailer yet, but BSU Legato states that they show Will Smith blastin' evil robots. We all know there are no "evil robots" in Asimov's world. The Three Laws of Robotics forbid such a premise. There is no "evil robot" per se in Azimov's universe. There is just that running theme in all of Azimov's books of what is considered right and wrong for and between humans and robots, and the running dilemna of applying the three laws of robotics by a "gifted" robot. iirc, the I, Robot series of shorts were set where the robots are just coming off the assembly and are still not being accepted by majority of the humans hence the obvious hostilities and distrust of humans towards the robots and the robot-makers/policy-makers This movie (based on the trailer) seems like a really good adaptation and realization of Azimov's shorts. Fwiw, Azimov's shorts such as I, Robot are really bland and boring to an average reader, compared to say Philip K. Dick's shorts that inspired Blade Runner movie. Elijah Bailey was not in the Robots-shorts. He was introduced in Caves of Steel, the pre-cursor of the Foundation-series. But I think Will Smith will do a good Elijah Bailey, tho, based on the trailers.

  11. need to update mine: 1/60's == 12 [*] two Hik-1A [*] two Max-1A [*] two CF-1A [*] two Strike-1S [*] two Hik-1J [*] one Milia-1J [*] one Max-1J 1/48 == 2 [*] one Hik-1A (fp) [*] one Hik-1S (fp) Yamato-total == 14 1/72 == none. Waiting for the 1/72 YF-19. Also waiting for a good sale on the VF-11B and the YF-22.
  12. Was just glossing thru some fanpages of the 1/48(?) Aestivalis HG bandai-models and I thought it would be kewl if Yamato-toys expands to Nadesico. It will rock! The Aesti's are kewl modular mechas and should just be good as a Yamato-product.
  13. Fumoffu is one of those shows that needed some understaning of the Japanese culture to fully understand the funny parts/jokes. huh? which Fumoffu-parts are you talking about that needs some japanese-culture stuff?
  14. Fumoffu. Tessa vs Kaname. With Sagara caught in between. Priceless. Nuff said. Well, Tessa's more than enough. Tessa's and Sagara's respective "behaviour" when Tessa was around were just priceless. Better acting than when he's with Kaname. I want more Fumoffu and more Tessa! oh, yeah, btw. The music/songs on Fomuffu was also better.
  15. Yup. It's called Fumoffu. It's way better than the first tv-series.
  16. treatment

    Q-Rau

i dunno, guys. this one's looking more and more like a $50 toy/model instead of a $100+ toy/model. I guess I'm passing on this one. For now. I just don't think it's worth it at it's current price-point.
  17. treatment

    Q-Rau

rols! that was a funny pic. feel sorry for your disappointment, man.
  18. treatment

    Q-Rau

anybody actually has one, yet? Please post an actual size-comparo with the VF-1s (1/60 and 1/48). with the Miria figure out of the Q-Rau.
  19. Iirc, I think she's actually from the Carolinas, instead of ADV's Texas-hq.
  20. I must add to the naysayers... that VF-0S prototype is fugly.
  21. Probably on most. But at least on the MS-08th Team, the Gundam-pilots were all skilled, iirc. The only bumbling unskilled one in the team was Michel, but he wasn't assigned a Gundam or GM unit. hmm. Just wondering. When did they start referring it as AU instead of AC? but yeah, on prolly all of the non-UC series, every pilot's well-trained by the time they're 15yo or something, to skillfully operate a high-tech Gundam and they never ran out of sponsors. Quite funny process.
