Macross DYRL in 4K UHD with English Subtitles
treatment replied to GGemini's topic in Movies and TV Series
I decided to fully watch the UHD-rip I made with the muted colors of the Roku player doing Dolby Vision auto-conversion on my LG-C2... and it actually ain't that bad, surprisingly! It's just not as saturated as the native HDR. At least, to my eyes and stuff. It's fine. I'm not missing the color saturation of the native HDR. I still like the native HDR setting as well, but enjoying watching this rip in multiple ways is a great plus. I do think I now prefer the muted colors just coz it doesn't stress my eyes as much, This release just keeps on giving! I didn't notice any region-lettering on my Japan-disc, so maybe the usual region-free UHD/BD from Japan. Not sure if the one being offered in Amazon-US is directly the same as the japanese-version, but fwiw, US and Japan do share the same BD-region for playback. Also, I think poster-offers were japanese-market exclusives. Just either have to wait or ask them directly for further details about it. -

I didn't realized it does that since I always have Dolby Vision On for Amzn-Prime content. -

I just ripped the 4k versions and streamed it to my LG C2 using my 4k-Roku stick's media-player, which converts everything to Dolby Vision format as per my Roku settings. Here's the funny part or just me reverting back to being a n00b: It seems that Roku's Dolby-Vision auto-conversion somehow totatlly mutes the colors on my DYRL-4k rip. I switched the DolbyVision setting to OFF and made it native HDR instead, and the colors on my DYRL-4k rip became very vivid again. So bizarre. Just an interestring observation while watching this DYRL-4K... -
anime magic. 😄 fwiw, the arti-gravity was just kicking in and they were already descending, albeit slowly. Also, the reporters were not really directly underneath them and a bit far off just from the area perspective, so not exactly in the same spacing as the couple.

Most likely the transliteration wasn't included in the script that was submitted for the english-subs. At any rate, here's a more usual minor nitpick where Minmay explicitly said "Nii-san", but the english-subs used his name instead: add/edit: My amz-jp order actually got even discounted by 1055y, so not sure what happened to your order. You can try to check which shipping-option you selected for your order, and/or check with your credit-card's actual yen exchange-rate for your order. -
Bandai already made a 1/20 Ground Fatty, so it shouldn't really be that difficult nor challenging for them to adapt or implement such leg mechanics on the HMR variant.

Honesly, I'm very grateful with the proper english-subs being included this time, but it would've been more awesome if BV or BW went the distance and included an english-translated booklet . There is room for it in the box. Maybe in the next DYRL-8k release? -

So, finished watching both the 2016 and the 1984 versions. Not much difference in quality, as far I can tell. However, maybe I just got used to it a bit and now somehow believing the 1984-version has fewer fuzzy/blurry parts. Maybe not. One last observation. Milia's green was just so neon-green vivid than the other colors in the film. I mean Hikaru's and Milia's Q-Rau's reds, as well as the VT-102's bright orange, were really standouts and really popped, but Milia's greens were just above level than them. As such, I think this UHD is a good effort. Maybe 90%-95$ good enough presentation. It's got several unfocused/unsharp blurry/fuzzy parts here and there, but not really that distracting. The fiim grains, noise, and other stuff are still there in both versions. The AI just seemed to have upped the colors a bit, or more so like with Milia's greens. Overall, quite nice presentation. Very worthy addition to all our DYRL versions over the years, I say! -

There is no "Dolby" nor "Dolby Vision" nor Dolby logo whatsoever on the sleeve/cover. -

Ok. Received mine today. First impressions of scenes up to the classic Hikaru-1A fanservice shot: some parts of the scenes are blurry and fuzzy. some are excessive and some are just minor. the colors do pop. I'm not missing the film-grain, yet. The english-subs are good and grammatically correct so far! Cannot rip the UHD, yet, for proper png-snapshots, but I did do some jpg-snapshots captures with the following devices: LG 65C2 Sony UBP-X700 Nikon D750 Nikkor 35mm Entangle, Darktable, Gimp I've resized it to 30% to hopefully not violate forum-constraints. Since these are jpgs instead of pngs, the colors are a bit inferior and not as vivid as the one you actually get presented with when you watch the UHD with your UHD-capable TV and Player. However, you'll still see the blurry and fuzzy parts of the scenes. That said, here you go! edit: guess the forum doesn't do thumbnails-views? oh, well. enjoy, nevertheless! -
fwiw, both the older 35Max and the relatively recent AG-V20 Actic Gear set had the Broken Shoulder part for the BloodSucker as a removable extra option.

Yes. In the LRS OVA, Ypsilon is the only named pilot of the BloodSucker. The others were Pailsen's unknown Red Shoulders pilots.

Hmmm. Looks like a snap model-kit. Maybe a Moderoid / Wave / Bandai-HG kits killer. Definitely different from Actic Gear, as the old AG bots have actual metal screws for their knee-joints and stuff., Incidentally, what is the scale of the Bandai HG VOTOMS kits?

I seem to remember reading several posts from this forum and elsewhere about previous DX Chogokins (Frontier valks, iirc) and bots from Bandai's SOC line getting and gotten loose by just having it standing (neutral or otherwise) as a display piece...
