I don't quite understand anybody liking the elongated torso on this HM-R 1-J.
-
The middle ones are the 1/60v2 valks. I don't have the VF-1D, but the Max and Kaki 1As are totally worth it, especially with the 1J to complete the Vermilion Team: Check out Saburo's even better hi-res pics for the 1A's: VF-1A Max: https://www.flickr.com/photos/projektzerothree/albums/72157653305074894 VF-1A Kakisaki: https://www.flickr.com/photos/projektzerothree/albums/72157652658043204 Check out this thread for VF-1D pics: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=40220#entry1085464 The top Super Valkyrie is the 1/55 1990-version with the funny visor: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_bandai_super_vf1s.htm Not really worthy, unless you're collecting really old stuff with the funny visor. The bottom part Super/Strike Parts is only worth it if you have the actual 1/48 valkyrie. The VF-0A is the new expensive Arcadia version. Here's Saburo's page for it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/projektzerothree/albums/72157657654234819 The Robotech Regult next to the 1/55 Super Valkyrie is trash. Don't bother with it. Just wait for the upcoming Bandai HM-R Regult instead. edit: btw, check out MWF's legacy toys-page for most of the old valks from various manufacturers: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_toys_menu.htm It should help you out a bit wrt old valks and stuff.

Yes. That's the old v1 version. No, it's not worth $50. It's only worth $20 including shipping, imho.
-
It might worthwhile just to get yourself a Future/Pledge clear floorcare polish to apply on the loose joints of your Nora. Preferably the original unscented version. It's about US$11 at amzn right now.

fwiw, this HM-R Armored-1J is still available at cdjapan at around msrp: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOGDS-139741

re: colors The Arcadia 0D maybe true to the artwork, but the way they have communicated and promoted it was just stupid and deliberately misleading. There were in fact many promo-pics of the Arcadia OD that were released and shown with varying colorshades of blue. Not only that, the grey-goggles were not confirmed until after the Arcadia Armored 1J was actually released. Before that, Mr.K was elusive about the grey-goggles. Only after Bandai showed the HMR did he confusingly blogged that their's will be grey-goggles also.

I disagree. The overall proportions and outlook is quite meh. I won't have mine delivered in another couple of weeks, but this HM-R already looks fugly to me compared to the 1/60. What's more, this HM-R's has the misproportioned (too long/stretched) cockpit/torso in 1J battroid-mode. The only advantages of this HMR are that it is indeed a nice shelfspace-saver at around 150mm and it is significantly cheaper than the Arcadia 1/60. The accessories are nice. Still weirded out by those red-tailed cluster-missiles, tho.

Imho, any (or all) non-MP TFs just look plain stupid and fugly compared even to the old craptacular breakage-prone 1/72 VF-11. Heck! They all look stupid, fugly and cheap walmart-clearance plastic against even the old 1/55 Bandai Chunkies. They don't even have diecast content like Bandai and Yamato valks. --- Fwiw, I feel your pain about breakage-prone valks. I don't have YamatoToys' old 1/72 VF-11 or 1/72 YF-19 or a 1/60 VF-0A, but I still completely understand your (and everyone else's) pains and sufferings about these breakage-prone valks. All of us do. However, that is why you go here to MWF and become a member to find out if the valk you saw somewhere is worth your purchase and/or the headaches/heartaches. No one willingly wants to get scalped with a breakage-prone valk. You just don't buy any of them. That said, no one really forces you or anyone to buy a valk made by Yamato, Arcadia or Bandai. It's may seem that MWF is pro-YamatoToys, but that's just because the Yammies were just the closest renditions of the valks we saw and fell in love from the anime. Not perfect, but better than Bandai or Wave or whoever produced valk-toys when YamatoToys was in existence. Nowadays lot of us give major griefs, hostility and whining directed towards Arcadia for their shenanigans because we totally and unequivocally _expect_ them to be a better YamatoToys in every damn way, but most especially in Quality Aesthetics/Engineering Colors Pricing Communications Is Arcadia meeting any of those today? Maybe in some only...

Got my notice from ami, too. Wondering if I should hold out for a better exchange-rate next week as it's currently 116-1 paypal-rate today...
-
With Bandai's standard preorder policy shenanigans of extremely artificially limiting stocks and availability? Yeah. Good luck to all of us to even get one Regult...

??? GAINAX was not even in existence back then. Anno's like an intern or some kind of flunky when he worked on Macross, iirc. As such, where are you getting these stuff? -
amzn is prolly your best (and only) bet these days for it. It's been on backorder-status forever at ami and hlj. I think I got the last one that ami sold a few months ago.

Well, I guess you're just lucky or you just didn't have the infamous MP-09 Rodimus. The MP-cassettes were also reported to be quite fragile, especially Laserbeak... As such, Takara/Hasbro MPs and Yammies/Arcadias have quite different levels of complexities, aesthetics and functions that they are really just not comparable.

ya know? I think I might be needing yet-another-Rias... http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-013753 1/6 late oct/15 The amiami-special version has a black bra and a bit more expensive. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-013761

Hmmm. I do not like that straight striping on the HM-R 1J. Also, wtf is up with the red-tails on the cluster-missiles, Bandai? oh, pics were from the toysdaily-thread: http://toysdaily.com/discuz/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=237752&pid=7582956

They're paying way too much to the chinese factory that produces questionable manufactured products for them... Also, simplifying the design or whatever will just make it easy to be KO'ed like the Transformers series (MPs, etc).

Nice pose. Roy's pinkblushing...
