Just so I'm clear about this when you say SLA are you talking about Streo Lithography? If so WoOOHoOO! This sounds like an exciting project! Now back to business. It sounds like you want this to be as easy as possible (who wouldn't). That being said, if I were you I wouldn't want to mess around with using this from kit A and that from kit B - too much work. It sounds to me like you're simply out find the 'Best' version, scan it, and directly output to the SLA. If that's the case, I'd go with the Hasegawa if you're interested in single mode kits, if you want transformation I think the Yamato is the way to go. This is because the Hase. kits are optimised for their spcific modes and it would be way too much work to adjust their proportions for a transformable version. Especially when Yamato has already done such a good job. As another suggestion there are some prety awesome 3D models in the fanworks section, Maybe you could find one you like and contact the artist to see if you could do a sort of trade: if they could provide you with 3D images of their model with a parts breakdown a-la Hasegawa's kits, you will provide them with an actual (touchable) model of their design. Sounds like a deal to me. Anyway good luck! and keep us informed.

This is the first I'm hearing about. O.K. so who's got the goods? DISH!

Yeah, Big F's pretty much covered it. You can see pics of mine 'in action' in the Hase. Gerwalk thread - fig's 30-31. I like 'em cause by hand turning I have more control and can go as slow as I'm comfortable with, plus bit sizes in the fractions of milimeters is a real bonus. Sounds like you got the right thing. Oh yeah, also an assortment of files (needle and regular) My needle file set has an assortment of shapes: circular, semi-circular, square, pyramid etc. Also if you can find 'em fairly cheap some dental pics in various shapes and a good panel line scriber ( a # 11 blade with the tip snapped off will work but a quality one will , to my mind anyway, always work better). Some Bull-Dog clips or clothes pins for small clamps is a good idea. and a good metal ruler and/or carpenters square would always be handy too. I'll post more if I think of anything.

Wait. . . . . This is surely not Anime . . . but is it Science Fiction? Well after checking out the previews . . . Yeah I'd say it qualifies.

get yourself a pin vise and an assortment bits for it.

So, Anyone start building one of these yet?

Visitors? I don't think so no. They are not really set up to recieve people at their "offices". I posted on their site a few months ago asking if they had a store in Seoul that I could visit and they simply responded that they did not. It was only after this whole incident with the Armored Valk getting recasted and sold online that they invited me to visit - sort of a thank-you I guess. While I was there I showed them MW (which they hadn't known about) and we chatted for a bit over coffee while they showed me around. I think your best bet would be to e-mail them or post on the Q/A section of their website. You'll need to get the address and directions from them as that info. isn't posted on the site. They seem like pretty nice guys. I think, if you have some ideas that could help them, it's worth getting in touch with them.

Different between two Hasegaw VF-1S Vakyrie fighter release
Chas replied to kkx's topic in Model kits
That is correct niether of these kits has the 'J' head. If you have the the VF-1A Super Valkyrie # 65704 that kit has the extra sprues with the parts for the 'J' head --sprues 'E' (x1) and 'N' (x2). -
I think, when this is finished, that MW members should mark every Dec 9 as Daedalus Day and send each other e-cards to commemerate the ocassion of the first successful outdoor float test for this most incredible of scatchbuilt Macross kits.

Different between two Hasegaw VF-1S Vakyrie fighter release
Chas replied to kkx's topic in Model kits
For satarters Kit # 65717 is called simply VF-1 Super/Strike Valkyrie -- no 'S'. Which gives you a clue as to what the difference is. 65717 has an extra sprue 'F' which contains the parts for the 'A' head - otherwise the contents are identical. -
Don't sweat it! The more the merrier! So that's a Hase. fighter kit with an Imai battroid kit cool! I'd thought about doing that but I didn't think it would look that good. Guess you proved me wrong. Didn't you build two gerwalk conversions? I'm pretty sure it was your build-ups that inspired me to do my own.

Well I stopped by Neograde today. It's 4 guys in a medium sized room that sculpt the masters and a small casting room in back that they use for making the patterns. These are then shipped off to HK where the moulds are made and the kits produced. We talked about the folks who are recasting their kit and they said unfortunately there is nothing they can do to stop it, "there are too many recasters in HK" was basically the answer. So it looks like HF and E2046 will still be able to offer the recasts. don't know Anyway they've got a nice set up and they said I could come by anytime I wanted to. Oh yeah and they do mostly do Gundam stuff, but the guy who did the Valk. is apparently a huge Macross fan and I was told that he'll most likely be producing other Macross kits in the futre. Anyway nice guys and a nice visit. Shame 'bout the recasters, and unscrupulous e-sellers though!

Thanks Dax, yeah you were right! Good sugestion. Anyway I don't know how many of you have been following the "1/72 Macross VF-1J/1S Full Armored Super Valkyrie" thread but I'm paying the creators of the kit ,Neograde, a visit this morn. and If it comes up I might suggest that for their next Macross conversion kit they might think about doing a gerwalk conversion for the Hase. series of kits. Anyway, if anything comes of it I'll let you all know.

Thanks guys! It's really not that hard to do, If you have the right tools and think through the steps, I'm confident that anyone on these boards could do this conversion successfully. All in all the constuction phase for this took about 1 week. I tried to make the step-by-step as complete as possible (the one thing Iforgot to take pics of is the way I figured out where to drill the whole in the new shoulder unit for the peg to go through but that's not a difficult thing to do yourself). Basically what you see is all there is - there shouldn't be any surprises. Anyway thanks again for theenthusiastic responses.

I don't do toys. Sorry if that sounds snooty, but building it is where all the joy is for me. Once I'm done I feel kind of sad in a way. It's like when your reading a great book and you can't wait to turn the page and find out what happens, but you also know that doing that puts you closer to the end of the book and you don't want it to end. ( Ahh the beautiful contradictions that make up life as a human being!) That being said, once it's done and on display, when I look at it, there is this feeling I get that can only come from the intimate Knowing that is gained from creating something with your own two hands, and your wits that has me swell with pride. I just don't think that could happen for me from spending $100+ on something and sticking it on a shelf. (not to knock any of you toy guys - to each his/her own, (singing) "It takes different strokes, it takes different strokes, it takes different strokes to move the world yes it does. It takes different storkes to move the wooooooorld" Edit --o.k. this is it so far-pretty much. Like I said, still some details left, and a few mistakes but all in all I like it and I'm pretty proud of it. (haven't done any model stuff in the last couple of months Too much life stuff getting in the way ) anywho, enjoy the pics.
