Very odd about the rear landing struts... The ones I saw at the ComicCon looked like they worked just fine... I admit that the belly was REALLY close to the ground, but not touching it in the ones I saw.... I hope mine is a bit better... All in all it appears the Alpha is a success. (Compared to other Macross or Robotech toys out there...aside from the 1/48s. ) Looking forward to receiving mine.

I'm not to peeved about the difference... Although the folks at the Toynami booth said there were NOT ANY differences in the toy itself, just in the "blister" packaging... So I am a pissed that they didn't tell the truth... I really hope this is the only difference... I do like the light blue better than the cyan... But I'll just have to live with it since I'm sure I will get one of the earlier editions due to my preorder being to long ago. Oh well, it's stilll looking really great.

I just turned 34, and I have the largest collection of anything I've ever had in Macross now. And I will never sell them. I think it's all about attitude and necessity... A lot of people my age don't really understand my facination with these toys, but then again, I don't really understand some people's facination with stamps, or naval lint, or bottle caps, coasters, match books, and the like... So.. to each his/her own.. As for the off topic real estate discussion.... I wouldn't plan to see property values come down any time real soon. They still on the rise with really no end in sight... When the economy stabalizes a bit more, and the feds up the interest rates is when you will see the market stabalize, and the equity increase begin to slow... Some places may drop in value, but it won't be much. I don't see property in SoCal coming down much if any... Values may just stop climbing for a while...

Looks pretty good, but I don't think it holds a candle to Family Guy based on what I saw.... Has potential though... Family Guy is possibly the funniest show I have ever seen. Maybe I'm biased...

Any word on a separate Max figure that will fit in the pilot seat? Seems REALLY dumb to go through the trouble of making a detailed cockpit with no pilot to go in it...

I asked about the Shadow... And they said that they ARE going to retool some of the parts to make it more accurate... I didn't get too much elaboration, but they said that they are going to make it right.

Speaking of high prices... A guy at the SDCC had a Low Vis for sale... He was asking $375... I told him it was worth $300, but he didn't go for it.

No need to get down, the first shippment will be in soon (well thats if you pre-ordered with a place that ordered a lot, heheh) I think they are making tweaks to the Alpha for the second release and they have to produce and ship all them state side...I know Nov and Dec is kinda late, but if it means a combining Alpha+Beta, it would be worth it right? I was told by Toynami in my email response that the Alphas shipping next week are exactly the same as the ones that will ship later in the year... The only change from next weeks release to the later release is the blister packaging for the toy... no change to the toy itself.

I read either in this thread or the MWcon pics thread that Kevin from Valk Exchange said that the first wave were on the boat and heading here. I think he said they should start shipping to retailers the first week of August. As for the Tread/Beta... In looking at the links of the toy here... it appears that they got the link up to be done FAIRLY well with technology of the day it was made... I will still keep hope that Toynami may just come through on this one.

That kinda sucks that they aren't including a Max figure... I hope they make a separate one... Maybe with some articulation?

The sensor is a bit weird... It looks like it sits a bit high up... Like the pivot joint is too tall... And the head on the Red Alpha does look wrong... It looks too much like the Scott Type head, and I'm almost positive that the Blue and Red Alpha heads are slightly different... in the "face" area. All in all though, I'm excited for this line as well. Can't wait to get my hands on one... OHH, and the Voltron line... I wouldn't mind picking up those too... The protos did look pretty good, but I thought they lacked some detail honestly. Hopefully the production version will be "dressed up" a bit more.

I buy doubles when I think it's appropriate... Example: I have two 1/60 Super Hikaru... One to display with FastPacks and one to display with GBP. I have two VF-19As... because they were unique. I have 3 VF-11s for the obvious reason... Spare parts! Usually I get one of each release.

What's the deal behind this? Is this the same version as zeo-mare's? That's VERY VERY nice. Armor... I just want to let you know that it looks like your project is really coming along very nice... I'm sure you will add a lot of detail to the finished product... Keep posting the pics man... It's really cool to see the work in progress... Now about this link.... Who in the hell built that thing?!!! It's freaking amazing!! I would REALLY like to know how all the different colors and detail were put into the "skeletal" or "mechanical" undercarriage?? Were the details airbrushed using intense masking, or brush painted?? Someone please clue me in.. Thanks.

I agree with this... I'm not buying the Alphas just to help out Toynami's sales with hopes of a Beta... But I will continue to be optimistic about it... Yes, there will be a lot of disappointed fans if the Beta never gets made... myself included, but it's not the end of the world. It would just be about the coolest thing ever if it did happen though.

Mechaniac... Thanks for posting the reply I got from Toynami... I was going to get around to it myself here soon actually... The news I got seems pretty promising, but the time frame is a bit frustrating... Oh well... If a Tread/Beta does get produced, I think it will be worth the wait... And actually, as much as I want a Tread/Beta, I would like to see the Cyclone MPCs... EDIT: From what I remember reading a while back at RT.com, the Shadow Alpha will be "accurate" to the line art... Isn't the main difference in the shoulder area?
