  1. I don't know for sure, but I don't think you should have any problem at all putting the VT/VE's legs on your 1J... I don't think the mods to the leg designs, and/or torso designs would prohibit switching the legs. So then what are you going to do with your VE/VT?? Leave it LEGGLESS!!! OHH the AGONY!
  2. Nobody got their panties in a bunch. Unless by that you mean pointing out the ignorance you've displayed more than once in this thread. Ignorance isn't a strong word because you admittedly haven't played the game. As for being marketed toward a younger audience... no... not really. I should feed you to the PA Forum members... even the ones that hate Nintendo will take a bite. Anyway, what makes it better than WipeOut? I wouldn't say that it's better than Wipeout... but then again; the last WipeOut I played was XL and I loved that. But as it stands right there... I think that F-Zero's tracks are way more fun and have greater variety. I also get a greater sense of speed when playing F-Zero, Wipeout makes me feel like I'm floating. But like I said, I haven't played any of the newer ones, this is my opinion as it stands from playing WipeOut XL(which I'll say again: I loved). btw - love your avatar. DEVILDOLL DO YOU WANT TO KICK IT!!!! No I have not played F-Zero... I would really like to give it a go though... I called the GC a "kiddie Konsole", and that's what got people up in arms, I wasn't referring to the game F-Zero as being geared towards kids... BUT, I still think the GC console itself is geared toward younger gamers... Even the artwork on most of the game packaging looks more "cartoony." BUT ENOUGH of that already... I'll just stay ignorant. Now the way you explained the handling and physics of the game is something I can understand. It sounds like it's really fun actually... And yes, WipeOut does have very good physics, including the ability to control your decent and speed in a jump. WipeOut Fusion breaks the cars ability into: Top Speed Thrust Lateral Stability Brake Force Shield Power Weapon Power With the top four pertaining to the cars handling. So does F-Zero have weapons too? Oh and..... "YEAH! LET'S KICK IT SOME MORE!!!"
  3. And how are floating car/ships realistic? You CAN program physics into imaginary cars... There are plenty of ways to extrapolate how a hover craft would handle when you break it down to the elements acting on the car. Once you give it shape, size, weight, a power source, etc... you have basic building blocks of how something will handle regardless of if it is real or not. As far as realism in a racing game, I think I broke it down well enough. It's about the physics and handling, not about if the cars actually exist or not. I expect a certain level of realism in ANY racing game. The possibilities in programming now a days are pretty incredible, and I just expect a higher level of game play that's all. I will have to try F-Zero. But I don't think that WipEout should be considered "Poo Gas" as MMX likes to call it... (but I didn't see the need to jump down his throat for that) Anyway, you have all made your point and I've made mine... I haven't played F-Zero, so I can't make a comparison... I only wanted to know what made it better than WipEout. And then everyone got their panties in a bunch about my "kiddie" comment... And as far as that goes.... The GC IS marketed for a younger audience... it's common knowledge, so I don't see the need to discuss it any further... I'm not knocking the quality of the console, just saying that it is geared for younger gamers.
  4. Wow, looks like I struck a nerve... Story: who cares Characters: who cares How about the important stuff: What about the physics of the game? How realistic is the handling of the craft? Racing games for me is about realism. I know there are no such things as hover craft jet cars, but there can still be a large degree of realistic physics that can be programmed to make the cars "feel real" going around the track. And I think WipEout did a great job as far as that goes I must admit, I'm not too thrilled with some of the track designs in Fusion though. Vostok 7 : I think "ignorant" was a strong word to use here. When you break it down, these consoles are for everyone. And my comment about the GQ being a kiddie console, was supposed to be funny not to ruffle anyone's feathers. But I think you have to admit that the GQ has more games directed to a younger audience than PS2 or XBox. Jemstone: Why don't you just say what you were going to say, I can take it.
  5. Now that makes more sense. Upgrading the firmware I mean. I guess you could also solder in a "chip socket" if you wnated to mod one yourself. Then if you needed to buy a new chip, you could just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. But I like the idea of upgrading the firmware better. How is that done? What type of interface do you need to access the firmware on a chip in the PS2?

    Newbie Question

The M+ valks are sweet... I don't know why you would want to sink a bunch of money into the original release of the YF-19 though... I would just wait until the new one is released, and use the money saved to buy a couple 1/48s Also, don't sell yourself short and not check out the 1/60 line... They are really beautiful toys. I know a lot of people have complained about QC on them, but I have over 15 of them, and I have had minimal problems. The M+ valks are my favorite too, but damn they are a bitch to transform.. EDIT: Oh, and WELCOME to Macross World.
  7. WHAT!!?? What do you mean WipeOut Fusion sucks??! That game kicks ass! What makes F-Zero on the "kiddie" console better than WipeOut? Do tell, I must know.
  8. But if you buy a "modded" PS2, won't you run into the same problems with lock-outs over time? Why would you suggest buying a modded PS2 over just getting a Japanese PS2? I realize the modded ones will play bootlegs and backups, but in the end don't you have the same problems?
  9. You guys think you know everything.... PFFT...
  10. get in line, rocco. I think I just got in line Less than Super O. So how many of you guys are in front of me? Man, I should have got one of those when I had the chance.... But my wallet was burning my butt that month... DAMN! Well, here's to hoping....
  11. Wow! Those women are beautiful... But the costumes blow. I agree, just color their hair and forget about the wigs.... Sailor Moon is lame.
  12. Toynami can delay until second quarter next year for all I care... I just want a quality toy of the Alpha... And I could use a break with the money issue as well... PLUS Yamato still has a couple of things for this year don't they?
  13. While I understand to a point the analogy you're making, I hope you're not suggesting that we don't even try to enforce drug laws. What's lacking in the MP3 case is a serious social evil. (Sorry for nit-picking, but I'm a philosophy minor and strongly considering DEA). I know I'm back in this topic after much has been said, but I wanted to respond to CAG. IMHO... All of these type of things just stem right back to prohibition, and the Boston Tea Party... It just really floors me that America doesn't learn from it's own history.... Prohibition DID NOT work. People still drank alcohol.... Boston Tea Party was about taxes, but my comparison here is what the PEOPLE do... When enough people band together to force change... change happens. My point is that if you try to outlaw something that a good percentage of the people want you will only create a Black Market for such things. People will ALWAYS find a way to get what they desire even if they have to pay more for it. Also, if you try to stir up the masses by threatening them with lawsuits, I believe it will eventually backfire on you. If the masses want something they will get it, and with technology today it makes this type of thing pretty easy... There will always be a smarter better programer to get around this stuff. I am a musician, and I'm also a commercial artist so I understand copyright law pretty well. And although I am against copyright infringement, I just don't see the point in what the music industry is trying to accomplish with this lawsuit thing. As a few of us have said here... people are not scared or detered by this in the least bit... What has also been said is that the music industry needs to enter the new age and figure out a way to make music available to the masses, the way they want it, and at a price the market will bare. And I also agree that CD prices MUST come down. It doesn't cost anything today to press a CD.. It's very cheap.. The problem here is that the labels don't want to give up any more of their profits... Rest assured that if CD prices drop, then the labels will try to skim a little more of the artists share of the sales to keep their own numbers up, and this will cause a big problem, that I just don't think the big labels are prepared to deal with. It's all about money, and they are just trying to keep their salaries as high as possible. So what is the solution? I think Apple has a good start with it's subscription program for downloading tracks and paying for them separately. This type of thing needs to be polished up a bit, but it is a good start.... But then how do you keep people from still sharing those files on the internet? You really can't... Just like you will never stop all drugs from coming across the boarders... So do you still try to enforce these laws? I say yes, you have to, but to what end.... I don't know. Is just putting SOME level of control going to be enough? Like I said before, I think at the end of this tunnel is a world without large record labels... Indy labels will take over and drive the business just like small business today have the most influence on our economy.
  14. What is WRONG with you people that DON'T want the VF-4 to be made?? I say make it 1/48.... I have a reason for this... As I have said before, I think the 1/48 line should be used for the COMPLETE Skull Squadron, and any of the more rare Valks... That way they just seem that much more "special"
  15. I really am looking forward to this toy too.... My first Yammie was the -19A... True it's not too poseable, kind of chunky, and a bit inaccurate... but it's still one of my favorites... It's one of the very few I have multiples of. So a new sculpt and fast packs, possible fold engine... OH YEAH, that baby WILL be mine! Actually, in regards to the forward slope in fighter mode.... I kind of like it... makes it look really mean from the front. B)
  16. LOL! Exo... sorry to hear you aren't so happy with your purchase... I think I will still get both of these and do some mods to them to get things to stay in the right places and such.
  17. GBP.... for ME! I think 1/48 is the only scale that would do the armor pack justice... bring it on!
  18. Pretty good stuff.... Where did you get the source imagery of the model?
  19. $100 bucks! Pfft... We've made way more than that playing one private party.... The "big boys" probably think it's worth it for the exposure if nothing else... which is true to some degree, but come on. I would probably play with a couple "big bands" for $100 just to get the crowd though. Thanks for the extra info. (the book suggestion and the web link). I will check those out. You are in a band right Tom? Where are you located? What type of music? Do you play out a lot? I'm still trying to get our web site done, but I have so much other crap to do, I just can't seem to get to it.
  20. This sums it up pretty good.... It is true that the artists don't make their millions with CD purchases... They make their money on tour. I think record companies may just fade away in the relatively near future.... What good are they really? The only thing record labels have to their advantage right now is capital (money), and connections. Labels just seem to be a hub and support center for the artists that make them rich... The labels can book the tours and get the great venues because of who their are and who they know, not what they provide. This IMO is the single most valuable thing a record label has. The connections with venues to book tours, and the money to back the artist while they gain momentum... In the simple of it, the label is just an investment company. For instance... I have been in a band now for five years... We are not signed, and we are not too poplular... The reason for our lack of popularity IMO is not because we suck (we are pretty good actually), but because we don't have the money to quit our jobs and go on tour... We lack the connections to book big venues with bigger bands, and we lack the money to get our CD we are currently working on to market. We could get any private investor with the willingness to give us money to record and duplicate our album, distribute it... Would could get money to buy better equipment, and money to live on while we tour... We could hire a PR firm to promote us on TV, radio, music publications... Have parties to promote us and get connections going.... The only thing we would lack is the networking connections with bigger established bands to tour with. Maybe eventually there could be some kind on network to connects bands with one another on a larger scale than is done now.... It doesn't take a big shot to put together a GREAT rock concert. Am I making any sense to anyone here, or am I idealizing too much? I just think that the music industry needs to be retaken by the artists that make the music. The Hip Hop scene has is right... Example: Dr. Dre.... He started his own label when he became a success, and it seems to me that the labels ran by some artists themselves actually keep the artists pretty happy, and from what I see damn rich too. What do you guys think of what I said here, or am I full of it.
  21. Man, the music industry is really screwing themselves by doing this. Lawsuits are not the answer... Can you say another "War on Drugs" scenario?? You will never stop it all, you will never catch everyone. So I don't understand why the music industry doesn't stop wasting time and money trying to stop these people. Instead, they should be working on a way to make SERIOUS CASH by making file swapping legal with a small fee per song... Of course, I don't see how this could be done, but I'm not a programmer.
  22. That is a pretty intensive modification... I have to agree with Super O though... a cleaner and more poseable way to accomplish this would be better.... I have to hand it to that guy though... WOW! What a lot of work, and it looks great for the most part.... I think I'll just keep my 1/60s the way they are for now though.
  23. I really like the prospect of a Kakizaki.... I would love to be able to complete the squadron in 1/48.... A TV Max would be really sweet... As for the Hikaru VF-1S.... I'll pass. Or I'll just convert my Hikaru 1A if the heat shield is going to be red.... Does anyone know if Rob still has 1/48 1S head recasts for sale? Now if the heat shield was BLACK.... hmmmm..
  24. I LOVE the 1/60s.... The only issue I have with them is that the leg joints seem to get loose over a pretty short period of time. I really hope they complete the 1/60 line with Destroids and ENEMY Mechs! PLEASE Yamato! The 1/48s are just plain beautiful too. I will collect all of them, but I kinda hope they keep the 1/48 line to a limited amount of variants because of the cost, and the size. If they do M+ Valks in 1/48 though..... Oh man that would be cool.
  25. I didn't know that they tried to do that!? Is there an article or something I can get more information about that? Do you know more details of what happened? I have LOVED Star Trek since the first time I saw it... And that was the original series... I hope it continues... I do agree though that Enterprise could be better, but it has kept me entertained.... I thought Voyager was good. DS9 was great though... especially toward the end of the series....
