  1. wouldn't it be interesting if that said Raptor had some kind of hi-tech FAST packs, & it was used for a certain character instead of the SR71? that woulda been awesome, but the idea of them still looking like crushed cans is totally disappointing. meh. i'll see it when i see it, but you'll have a hell of a time trying to get me to watch it a 2nd time.
  2. ...how big are the boxes? all i'm hoping for right now is to get these at a reasonable price from my local importer. if the numbers aren't offensive, i might get a couple of 'em. oh, and... i want a 1S Strike Hikaru NOWWWWWW !!! (and possibly a 1S Max)
  3. i've had that kind of problem too, usually when i want to do it in reverse. (make BIIIIG things based on small things) what i do is take the numbers from the scale model & divide them by the numbers of the actual thing. from that, i get the "approximate scale" of the model. most of the time, it's not the neat number the boxes say they are for example, Hot Toys' 1/6 scale is actually 1/6.3 or 1/5.8. i forget which, but the 0.2/0.3 difference is huge! then, i start building using the "new" probably more accurate scale. there are also parts somewhere that are out-of-scale from your already out-of-scale model, so it helps to double check measurements from each section of the model. i've seen too many models with correct overall dimensions & scale, to find out they have short noses, low roofs, undersized/oversized compartments, etc.
  4. you can fish them out by folding out the side panels, then use your pinky finger to push them back out. no tools needed. well, with the exception of bigger fingers. is it supposed to rotate automatically both ways ? i thought it just did that for battroid-to-fighter. yup. beware! it should & it does. but the part has some kind of snap lock & is very tight. the only safe way i could find to use it is to use detach-o & ease the part into unlocking. forcing it might break it.
  5. but... the foo-foo haircut! he's gotta be EVIL great episode! apart from the wonky animation in middle part. it was... disturbing not to mention the embarrassing gun Alto was holding. no wonder it was useless against the hydra, it was drawn all wrong! and apparently, Galaxy has Terminators! woo! now i want Brera to walk up to Ranka & say "My meeshun iz to protekt yoo." it's nice to see them finally push Ranka's character. after this episode, she's dropped the kiddy vibe, and we officially have a real race between Sheryl & Ranka the Kawamori cameo was priceless! especially the scene when he sees Ranka singing on the cliffs.
  6. that detaching canopy gimmick pretty much dooms all of us into buying 2 of 'em, doesn't it? is it just me, or is there something special about the neck joint...
  7. i had always believed that with the advent of alien overtechnology in Macross, the tech singularity that would have occurred would have surpassed tech capabilities far beyond even today's standards. the "how" would be negligible. granted, that "how" question was more important back in the 80's when the best robot we had was a giant paperweight. they've shown that they have the tech for AI (garbage & soda bots, Sharon Apple), but i suppose SK didn't want to focus too much on that theme. so it could be reasonable to assume that ever since the VF-1, the control system would have been sophisticated enough to actually allow pilots to do stuff demonstrated in the shows. the VF's could actually be thinking with the pilots, predicting, augmenting & assisting the pilot's input. the only real question would be how to power the thing, which SK & co. found a reasonable explanation for.
  8. those were 600's ? interesting... but they only showed them with skin & clothes. up to now, we have no idea what a 600 series endoskeleton looks like. we can guess that they look like 800's but we can't be sure. but as far as the series is concerned, they made an effort to show there's a distinct difference between an 800 endo & an 888 endo chassis.
  9. wasn't that just some random robot with a rubber face at the science fair/computer chess tournament ?
  10. I like to think the explanation to the battroid movement control is pretty much how the Powered Suit was described in Starship Troopers. The chapter on the suit mentioned the "negative feedback" concept. i'm guessing it's a lot like it. who's to say the flight suit doesn't contribute to the control system? what if the flight suit's designed to accept negative feedback controls, coupled with the ones in the cockpit? the cockpit controls take care of the weapons & transforming, while the suit takes care of the higher motor functions. so in theory, a pilot in proper attire could conceivably do all those fancy moves. and perhaps there's a set of rudimentary movements programmed into the VF's basic controls, if the flight suit isn't available. (at least, that's my scientific wild-ass guess for Hikaru flying the VF-1D in SDF:M & Shin doing the same without the flight suit in Zero ) if that doesn't make sense, there's always that "anime magic" you guys keep talking about
  11. i have to admit, going for the T-600 was a smart move. since we've never seen artwork of it, they wouldn't be able to generate as much massive fits of rage from fans for ruining an iconic design. should those 600 series designs suck hard, or somehow be obscenely more sophisticated than the 800 series. but after seeing their flying chin drones, i'm not expecting them to get it right anyway. i'll probably see the movie(s) just to see BatBale's interpretation of Connor. and maybe Frodo's doppleganger just for laughs.
  12. no no, no tools were used to detach the parts. detaching the limbs was actually easier than i thought.
  13. GENTLEMEN !!! i give you... crappy camera phone pics of detach-o mode! i don't recommend using the detach-o feature too often, the paint on the connectors are prone to chipping. i have paint chipping on the hip connectors from 2 attempts already. other than that... pure awesome !
  14. i didn't have a camera available if only i could take it to work where there are cameras... the risk is just too great damn you, super expensive, complex toy with gigantic box !!!
  15. i just tried the detach-o feature last night. i recommend detaching the parts in battroid mode, where the parts are easily accessible. the manual says you can do it while in semi-fighter mode though. i'm not sure i'd want to try it that way. after i put the parts back in place i had some sort of fit problem where the legs didn't have any room to fit in fighter mode. after some time adjusting & transforming back & forth, i found the cause of the problem: the upper gerwalk knee joint wasn't locked back all the way into its straight position, causing clearance problems. moral of the story: make sure the legs are completely straight & locked into the proper position before transforming back into fighter mode. before anybody starts panicking, there are no problems with the YF-21. the problem i encountered was caused by the barbarian gaijin handling the toy. ie: me. ...and i'm never using the detach-o feature again
  16. how about "Ghost killer mode" ? "Final flight mode" ? i haven't tried to take the limbs off of mine. i'll probably try it once & never do it again
  17. got mine earlier today it's practically perfect. lots of pointy parts, but pretty much perfect. aside from the fact i'm afraid of a couple of parts. there are a couple of steps in the transformation that aren't exactly clear, like how much the back can be pushed forward for gerwalk & battroid mode & which places are safe to handle. then again, i don't read foreign manual-ese well, now we have Graham to explain it for us no issues with mine, looks like that delay was worth the wait.
  18. Frodo's doppleganger perhaps, but Kyle Reese? that's a bad joke right there.
  19. wow. concept art, and it's not pretty. link Aerial HK's with chins ! they just reminded me of those terrible terminator starships with giant terminator skulls from robocop vs terminator. when will it end ?
  20. if my 'splosionese serves me right, the flat out answer is "no". the blast woulda melted the fridge, then blow it into a zillion pieces. but the fridge thing didn't bother me as much as the CG animals. it's not like this movie was Aliens or Terminator. at what point do you take a movie with cheesy fist-fight SFX seriously? i felt it did its thing as an Indy movie. the sci-fi thing didn't bother me 'cuz, hey, it was the 50's! the 50's was all about , right?
  21. if i can flail this new VF-1 around without fear of breaking anything even with FP's, then this would be the bestest VF-1 toy since the 1/55's ! i wonder what the foot thrusters look like when they're open. will there be any detail in the middle ?
  22. new tabs on the FP's ? interesting... does that mean they lock more securely now? with no fear of backpack breakage? consider me sold! now all i need is confirmation of a Strike Hikaru set
  23. the thing on the roof is a ! i guess confirms that particular speculation about the show. i can't help thinking that with could either have a serious plot point (other than the obvious) or running gag. bring on the next episode!
  24. after Rambo, you can bet it'll be nothing but kiddified. that, or just another AvP, except with Robocop. probably DieHard 4 featuring Robocop, with all the recycling they're doing.
  25. ...and what about those 2 inch tall mini-kits that came in different neon colors? free inside a bag of chips/cheese puffs/cheese rings! they came in the following models: -Battroid Vf 1J -Gerwalk VF 1A -Destroid Tomahawk -Destroid Spartan
