  1. if you take a good look at the pictures, the Tumbler & Pod have completely different parts aside from the tires. there's no way the pod can actually "eject" from the Tumbler. for example, the guns on the Tumbler have square/rectangle muzzle brakes while the Pod has round ones. and the steering arms/braces (or whatever they are) on the tumbler's front wheels disappear on the Pod. it's another one of those suspension of disbelief things. and i love it maybe one day, somebody will make a Tumbler that has a completely transformable Pod that fits perfectly inside. it would be the ultimate tribute to the Tumbler's passing. hopefully for much less than $700
  2. they could actually solve the problem by using a bigger revy joint, so the gap is less noticeable. i wonder why nobody's thought of that over at Kaiyodo HQ. not to mention the joint at the chest is also weird. they only look good if the body's straight. it looks awkward in any other pose. to think, most of these problems can be fixed. if only they would sell revy joints world-wide.
  3. i've seen that bat-pod/tumbler toy up close, the tumbler in particular looks like a knock-off. the pod is decent, but it doesn't look like remove the figure riding it, plus it's a different size compared to the other figures. for $30, it's too expensive for the quality. i guess what you get from it is the nifty eject-o feature. and it seems to hide the pod inside pretty well
  4. the huge LoTR battle scenes would be kind of a stretch, Skynet did just flatten or vaporize most of humanity earlier. a small group of resistance vs all of the machines would make the most sense. it would make for a more compelling story too. a huge legion fight would be kinda cliche' already IMO.
  5. is it like the bendable antenna on the YF 21 ? if it's the same plastic, then it should be pretty durable & shouldn't be prone to breaking.
  6. best batman movie to date i was thinking the ventriloquist & scarface would fit in pretty well for the 3rd movie, with both films being mob-centric so far.
  7. well said. wow. i just realized... my posts sound like i'm anti-AI sweet jebus! i lost focus somewhere, too many words i guess and, i don't believe the machines will throw the 1st punch
  8. if Graham says you can do barrel rolls with the FP's on, then i'm sold. i won't have to treat it like some kind of bomb anymore. the only thing left is a flail test.
  9. i was talking about the premise of the movies, actually... it's true that Sarah was the only technophobic character. but all of the movies have that theme. ie: machines=evil so it only makes sense that the central AI character would go bad. anyway, in terms of believable, there's believable, practical, & far-fetched. i counted the "angry AI" far-fetched just like the "3 laws" because they assume too many "ideal" conditions. at least in my opinion. one assumes a paranoid environment, while the other assumes a utopian one. i'd say... "unlikely, but not impossible" who's to say somebody won't create an AI just for wiping us out? yes. when technology goes bad, it's the fault of the people (mis)using it. the end by machines is near! well, 50/50 at least and as for flying cars... to me, they're believable, but just not practical. would you really want that average joe getting into a flying car & doing his average joe road(air) rage thing? even an air-borne DUI ?
  10. exactly. that's what skynet is. and what the Terminator universe presumes is that AI has or can have emotions, and they were part of what led skynet to ultimately wage war on humanity. the flip side to this is that the AI wouldn't have emotions. it wouldn't feel the need to exterminate humans because it was threatened. it would probably ignore us except for those times when we would get in the way. no hard feelings, kinda like moving a table away from the door. but it's actions would be based on how it was programmed. if it was programmed to be a pacifist or an ass-kicker. skynet was programmed to be an ass-kicker, so that's how it thought. with or without emotions, it would eventually come to the same conclusion. if skynet was programmed to be a seamstress, then there probably wouldn't have been a war at all and of course, the Terminator franchise plays on technophobia, so obviously, this AI turns on its creators
  11. i don't think a vengeful, murderous AI is realistic either. sure, it could be 50/50 either way, but machines hating humans instantly? that's kind of a stretch. if anything, it would be amazing if the AI actually survived the attempt to shut it down. i think out of all the man vs machine movies, The Matrix got the man/machine war dynamic right. it's not the machines that will suddenly decide to kill us, it's us that will make/push them do it, for our own good. the 600 looks good. there might be hope for this movie yet. but the CG stuff tells me otherwise. it now has inconsistencies with its own technology. the resistance with "cool" combat gear is also iffy can BatBale save this movie?
  12. that's what i figure too. they were originally from Prometheus, it got confusing because of the FP's which were from SDF-1 or ARMD-1 and Hikaru & Max's 1s's were from SDF-1. so Roy's VF-1 should still have Prometheus on the tailfins, but the FP's are marked with SDF-1, possibly ARMD-1 then again, we're not really sure where the FP's come from. at least it's just either SDF-1 or ARMD-1, which could be correct either way.
  13. that 600 looks too bulky for something that supposedly uses the fake rubber skin. and it looks like the terribly designed T-1's are in it too, probably an upgraded version. *sigh*... they Bayed this one up too. that's what happens when you base a sequel on a piece of crap which was T3. the creative void in Hollywood is also to blame. they'd better have really good story for this. otherwise, it's just another HBO/Cinemax movie.
  14. i can appreciate the effort, but i'm not impressed. i'm pretty sure there's a better design out there. like BigKid24 said, the way they designed the movie bots, they don't even have to look like the car. just put a random bunch of parts together, make it look humanoid, paint to "correct" colors & paste some "obvious" details like tires. anybody can do it. a 10 year old can do it. except of course... this guy's got 3D software, & he seems to be very good at it. EDIT: missing words
  15. awesome episode! i woulda nuked the site from orbit... just to be sure so our 3rd faction wants a civil war and a war with the vajra? pretty exciting stuff. is LAI the 3rd faction ?
  16. that Roller's got weird proportions. probably 'cuz they forced it to be transformable. Movie inspired? pass... speaking of MP Roller... has anybody actually seen the TakaTomy Roller?
  17. even if there were 2 identical looking ships, i think we're forgetting that the SDF-1 was the only ship that could transform then. and remember, they did it for a specific reason & not just for sheer novelty. you know, 'cuz the sumthin-sumthin that got them stuck out in space went missing, & they needed it to fire the thing's... thing. that's the Macross. a duplicate ship would be "new"-ish, it wouldn't look like an over-retrofitted ship. and M7 showed that the next generation of transforming capital ships are totally different designs. this ain't Star Trek, you know well... at least, as long as Macross 2 hasn't been retconned into the continuity i'm guessing if they showed the SDF-1 transforming in the next episode, there would be flood of mighty man-tears in the ep 13 thread
  18. AWESOME !!! so we agree it's the Macross? i think it says "this is my show. you other guys, OUT!" if they're really going to explain how it got there in ep13, does that mean we get to see the Macross in action again? MACROSS CANNON !!! and will it involve some degree of extra maneuverability just like the 'Quarter ? the questions & anticipation are mind blowing! if memory serves, they only showed the nasty vapor trail it left when it entered the atmosphere & crashed.
  19. i'm gonna go ahead & say... it's not impossible. it just takes a lot of time & effort. i've tried. and i'm still in the process of learning how to do certain things right. take this guy for example: it was my attempt at a pocket-sized Koenig. i put this guy on hold due to a few engineering problems & such. but at the same time, i learned what works & what doesn't when building these things. having brought my pocket monster back from development hell, i think it's time i finished it and Rohby's JM2's are proof of what's possible.
  20. i just noticed, the new 1/60 finally has the tapered wing tips in battroid mode. it's subtle, but it's there. closest one to lineart indeed. i've never seen it on the transformable VF-1's 'til now. this is officially taking too long
  21. i thought Cullen's delivery of "I am Optimus Prime" seemed kinda frantic & panicky. it sounded like an introduction done in a foxhole under fire to me. kinda like... "Hey, I'm Jack. we just lost our RTO, & we're surrounded by VC. nice to meet you." i think Weaving's Megatron worked pretty well too. calm & evil is much more impressive for a bad guy. i wonder what Weaving's Galvatron will be like...
  22. it looks great! darker gunpod, intake covers & feet, blue FP's, & whiter white. it's supermodel pretty! need... awesome... spending... power!!!
  23. and i wasn't expecting it to be TV or G1. my point is, should it have been given another title, all the insipidry would have been moot & i would've enjoyed it more. ubergeeking aside, you can't walk into a movie labeled Transoformers without some expectations of it being what you remember from back then. i was however, expecting something better, with the big budget, the "meddling" from actual TF people, & production value. all i got was some brainless 'splosion FX fiasco with robots you can hardly look at. i don't mean it to offend/flame/instigate a new religion, it's just how i feel about the movie. that said, i hope the 2nd one will be better.
  24. see, that's my problem with the 1st movie. i tried to see what might have been good with it, but i left the theater with no silly grin. but Speed Racer, no matter how ridiculous, embarrassing, or boring it got, i still left with that silly grin. for all the hokiness & slow pacing Speed Racer had, it looked, sounded, & felt like Speed Racer. add to that all the nods to the original show, that movie was Speed Racer. and that left a mighty silly grin on my face. Bay's Transformers simply wasn't. it didn't look, feel, or sound like Transformers. (aside from the transformy sound) it just had the title, & some names associated with it.
  25. how about those small locking thingamajigs that BanDai & TakaraTomy have been using for ages? and as i understand, POM is wear-resistant & can be molded in the appropriate color, so those locking things should look decent and last forever. they used them on the 1/48's leg FP's, so why not use them more often?
