great study on the details. it's developing character now, so keep going!

i just got universe Inferno awesome figure! this is probably the 1st universe class toy that feels like the galaxy force figures. solid, hefty, clean paint apps & seemingly nigh-indestructible! and they used a subtle metallic/pearl/sparkly plastic for the red & brown(gun metal?) parts. pretty much like the encore Convoy. very nice.

i think it's supposed to be "up" instead of op. if you look at the whole thing with the background head on, it says "call up monster girl"

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i think the pic with all the Japanese on it is an ad for Japanese magazines. they're probably pre-production samples made by the same company. is there any any info on when these are supposed to hit the shelves? i'm itching to get the endos already -

wow. that's really something. angry angry Connorbale. i wanna know which scene this happens on i think the endo toys are gonna sell better this time around. they might not sell to kids, but they will to older fans. i remember the old T2 toys even had a 2nd run with them being marketed as the good guys. the good guy endos were gold & had a number or year tattooed on them, and the bad guys were... aliens. -

wow. they really used the Robocop 2 torso for the giant endo thing? yup. that pretty much nails the lazy production. those look a lot like props from a cheap sci-fi B movie to me. terrible. aside from the cheap props, the endo toys look pretty decent. i think i want a bunch of those T800's. a Terminator squad maybe. i hope those aren't the hard-to-find ones when they hit the retailers. -
it does? that's funny. i don't know what a Halo pelican looks like. it's funny how a couple of lines can change the character of a drawing. the 2 planes have the exact same silhouette from the top so yeah, the YF 42 concept folds up pretty much like a VF-1 & VF-11 combined, with some other stuff that folds up. the F-22ss folds up like MP Starscream, with extra stuff. and the not-so-clever character emblems. "Jet on Fire" & "Star in a Screaming Skull"

well, all i said is that's where it comes from, not that i'm the bestest at it and now, since you guys asked for it... and

this style, my friends comes from years of Macross, Gundam, Transformers & etc geeking nay. ubergeeking and practice i don't have any fighter mode drawings. it's because i pretty much wrote off the fighter modes as F22's. or at least something very similar. the Jetfire i'll admit does need a drawing of fighter mode to explain things.
-
nope, it's not Starscream. note the green-gray parts at the arms, legs & behind the shoulders this is Starscream
-
...does this count ? it's Macrossy and Transformery at the same time

i want a hi-res image of the original nose art. so i can make stickers or decals for my yamato koenig. in case bandai doesn't make their own koenig. a custom painted toy is better than no toy.

that's not a very convincing argument for me. most pilot episodes run for an hour or less & they still manage to give considerably more character development than the 2-hour movie. even the Oddparents 15 minute pilot gave us more characterization. actually, pick any episode. terrible writing. that's all there is to it. that's what caused all the plot-holes, "Ebay", camera work, forced jokes, hacker subplot, sector 7 subplot, insignificant robot dying from getting split in the gut & the city fight. and my favorite, why would they/anybody need the glasses if they could track the allspark's energy signal in the 1st place? Starscream didn't have the glasses, but he found Megs. and Megs knows where the allspark is since he's been in cold storage right next to it. what are the glasses for again? oh right. it ties in the badly written teenager lead. ok, so this one has an excuse ...they could have done the army thing, alien robot thing, then gone straight to the sector 7 thing, then to Hoover dam & the city fight. see? no hackers! -

so... we finally get decent, affordable terminator figures in 1/18 scale? to bring doom on the other 1/18 figures! looks like it's time for that machine army i always wanted. too bad they don't have the correct phased plasma rifle. -
this new line of movie toys just goes to show why i don't like the movie designs. granted, the 2nd attempts at the Prime & Pacifierface & Silverswipe are pretty respectable, even impressive. but look at all the other toys that come with the package. most of them are terribly designed & engineered. back then, i thought the animated line had that title. but after the animated line developed, i'm gonna say it's far superior. the movie designs, however "interesting" are just giving a good toy company an excuse to shell out badly designed & engineered toys. take the jetfire for example, i believe i've seen better China-made transforming robots. hell, it even gives 'em an excuse to repackage some of those Chinese transforming robots & pass them out under the brand name. they could have done a whole lot better. i suppose that's what the movie franchise has to say for itself. meh. too bad they decided to drop the ball like Bandai

there goes the last reason why people liked the movie

What was the first anime that you watched?
UN_MARINE replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
somehow, i managed to watch these shows at roughly the same time. they used to have these shows strung together after school & on weekends. in no particular order: Voltes V Daimos Mekanda Robo Getter Robo UFO Grendaizer Mazinger Z as Tranzor Z Golion & Dairugger as Voltron Bismarck as Saber Rider Blue Noah as Thundersub Dai Shogun as Macron 1 Macross Macross as ******** Mospeada as ******** Southern Cross as ******** Mach 5 as Speed Racer Astroboy Galaxy Express Captain Harlock at the time, i couldn't tell the difference between these shows & GI Joe, He-Man, Transformers & Go Bots i just knew the super robot shows were better. you knew Optimus was cool, but the 5 ships combining to form a giant robot with tank treads at the back was much cooler. and that spaceship turning into a giant robot & had a ton of it's own transforming planes, you knew there was no contest. -
Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
UN_MARINE replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
true, they do make swap-out parts in everything they make. but most of the time, those are parts that are too small to actually make a "working part" out of. the problem here is DX's hands are just big enough to make something that doesn't need swapping. plus the fact that they included a couple of other swappable hands. couldn't they have included a set of "compromise" hands? something that can hold the weapons and fit into the shield. sure it won't be pretty or accurate to fighter mode, but the transformation process won't demand you to swap them out. and a hinge at the base of the gunpod adaptor, attached to the rest of the valk maybe? it's sort of a bad joke actually, they put all that effort into making the swap-hands because they didn't want to compromise the look of the hands, but they dropped the ball on things like landing gear. -
very nice! about shading: if you're using illustrator or photoshop, you can use a separate layer for the shading. this way, you won't ever have to mess with or screw up your color layer. you can set the layer to 50% opacity, or any value that looks right to you, & use a tone of gray for the layer. then, you can add more layers of shading/highlights & keep playing with the opacity depending on how much depth you want. the multiply setting on layers works too, you can play around with those settings for greater effect.
-
great work! when are we gonna see some color on this bad boy?
-
trust me, it's red. the one in that pic must be a combination of the 1s Focker & the 1a Hikaru.
-
i'd pay for these, if Yamato will make them. -1/60 v2 VF-1s Minmay Guard Paris/Moon/Hasegawa version w/ FP's ! -1/60 v2 VF-1 Low Vis Gray ! w/ FP's ! it's not complicated or ground-breaking, but it should be doable within a reasonable timeframe.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title

another interesting note here is that the trailers & write-ups seem to imply that in this new continuity, Connor is working with his very own terminators already. so why wouldn't Connor & the resistance have access to plasma weaponry at that point? IMO, it's an inconsistency that shows in the writing and reflects as laziness on the film's production. it could be worse though. for all we know, it could be one giant firearms sales pitch. -
the dot on the 1s Hikaru is red. the lighting in all the pictures previously posted make it look orange/yellow.
