Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
cool after being reminded of some of the flaws, i kinda feel like making improvements to some areas. yup, i think those are the best feature too. though i think the pistons behind the knees look goofy sometimes with the bendy plastic. -

it's impressive alright, but it's kinda ridiculously prone to toppling over. it's not really because it's top-heavy, the feet don't have enough surface area & traction to keep it standing. it stands upright just fine, but start with any other stance, & it starts doing a split right away & topples over, & the articulation in the toes doesn't help. also, the lights in the eyes shine out through the rest of the eyeball sockets & at the base of the skull. i had to break it apart & paint a couple of areas to reduce the "bleed". think of it as a giant version of the 6" one, except the flaws are less noticeable on the 6" version other than that, the paint's pretty good, the plasma rifle is highly detailed, correctly proportioned & decently painted. the upper body articulation & details are great too, the shoulders even have ratcheting joints. hope that helps -

the price tags are probably a matter of pre-built vs build it yourself. the 1/9 scale endo is the model kit, the 1/12 endos are definitely the action figures. the difference between the endos before was the color of the endo & what gun it had. there was a "small arms" endo that came with an assault rifle, revolver, & uzi, & the endo was blue-ish, kinda like robocop then the "chrome" one that has the plasma rifle. they also used to make a T-X & 2 versions of the Governator T850,regular & battle damaged. i guess this time around, it's plasma rifle or no plasma rifle. EDIT: BINGO !! PICS !! and... i never knew they packaged one w/ the plasma rifle & assault rifle -

it's pre-built & pre-painted. it also comes with a spare hand for holding the plasma rifle. from what i can tell from the packaging, it's mostly PVC w/ some kind of hard plastic for key areas. it doesn't say if the hard stuff is nylon, ABS or POM. but it's in pieces in the packaging, so you gotta pop the head & limbs on. kinda like the bonus assemble-a-figure in those 6" DC & Marvel hero sets. the hard plastic joints are great, they don't seem to loosen over time & abuse. -

it's just as tall as the McF & Mezco T800's the pics kinda make the plastic look weird, but it looks exactly like the McF & Mezco ones, minus the weathering. -

how about the T800 made by aoshima ? looks like they're making re-issues! t800 -6 inch/ 1/12 scale -metal wire/spring things for the neck & shoulder cables -metal inner piston shafts -proportional plasma rifle. -opening jaw -ball jointed neck highly recommended -

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.4

the 2 greens probably comes from the difference in the plastic they use for the parts. remember the prototype pics w/ different colored plastics? that's the cause of the mismatch. my scientific wild-ass guess would be that the materials can hold a limited number of color tones, some match up well with the alternate material, while other colors are just obviously mismatched. apparently, green ABS + green Polycarb (?) isn't a good combination. but it eventually boils down to "what were they thinking?!" they knew about this color mismatch in pre-production, but still went along with it. boo... -
thanks guys sorry for the lack of new material, i haven't been able to use a scanner for a while. i'l get cracking on new stuff as soon as i can get some time with a scanner i don't know why it's so widespread either. my guess would be that these people just want the instant recognition while not wanting to do all the hard work. and for some, easy money. plus there are actually people that buy into the scam, "i'm still developing my style" seems to work as a cover for the stealing. they don't see the inconsistencies with the so-called artist's quality of work & styles. so yeah, suckers=scammers.

i'm pretty sure this problem's being caused by the pegs being inserted at an angle, and the ring being clear plastic doesn't help much. not to mention it's a fiddly section to transform. thanks for the heads-up yeah. i have one of those. aside from the potential cracking problem, it's worth the cash i spent on it. some of the things that convinced me were the rubber tires, diecast parts, & auto-folding. if you don't have one yet, buy one now!!!

DYRL-style swappable Prometheus & Daedalus would actually be cool. it would give us a compromise or the TV version, and a couple of ships to park beside the thing. whether or not people choose to display it in DYRL or TV mode. think of the semi-limited possibilities! -parked DYRL Macross w/ Deadalus & Prometheus parked along the shoreline -TV Macross w/ ARMD1 & 2 as escorts oh well, we can only dream.

thread necromancy & filler !!! Valk girl, Strike edition

i just realized this thing's gonna be the size of a cat looks like it'll have to replace the cat next year. display space problem solved! hell yeah! lights & a sound chip would really sweeten the deal. but are they still open to suggestions at this point? things like... using lots of POM. who knows, they could end up using the same stuff they use on jumbo grade gundams.

the deluxe "battle begins" Prime is nice too. it's the only sculpt that has smokestacks! it's the Prime to get if you want it really close to G1. the downside is that it comes with battle damage paint & a lame Megatron.

you guys might want to check the hip parts beside the neck part with said fracture. right in front of the painted gray arrow/line detail & behind the intake. mine has fractures on both hip/intake parts, they go all the way through to the gray hip balljoint part. it's amazing they even cracked there, all my YF19 does is stand. i don't even transform it much. EDIT: pic! there it is right in the middle of the picture. sorry about the bad phone camera pic.

it's all about determination. i'm actually happy it only hit the $500 mark, it's only 2 valks i won't spend for. besides, we have a year before it lands. saving up for it should be easy.
-
i wonder if Yamato will consider adding the number of the tiny valks. i'm thinking i'll need about 60 or so tiny valks & destroids to go with this thing. a couple of valk squadrons doesn't feel right, given the scale & awesomeness of the thing. if the accessories make the toy, then it has to be at least 30 valks & 30 assorted destroids. think about it, the 1/48 GBP has about 60 detachable missiles too. tons of micro valks & destroids should be easy.
-
so if the toy is gonna be 2feet, what about the box? 2.5feet? maybe they need to pack this thing in a miniature crate. 500 bucks doesn't seem so bad. technically, it's just 2 VF-11's bought & shipped at different times. plus we get a year to get ready for it. i'm pretty sure i made about that much extra money last year, except it went into Valks, Transformers, Figmas, Revoltech, DVD's, BLUrays & a rockband geetar. the horror. the horror.

MY WALLET !!! it laments in agony knowing i'm gonna spend for this thing! EDIT: everything else seems so insignificant now...

wow! this Devastator has bunny ears! never in a million years would i have associated "Devastator" with a bunny rabbit, but there it is. so this is their best effort at a new-generation combiner toy? how do you do that with generations of combiner toys to draw inspiration & technology from? some of the talent from the designers of the animated toys could have made it better. hmm... Devastator Bunny... i think i'm on to something
-
wow! the TFA Arcee's awesome! it's a definite buy for me i think the Rampage is kind of interesting. aside from the horrible face, it looks pretty decent. i could be wrong though, it doesn't look like you can roll the thing around in its alt mode.
-
i prefer Encore too, for the following reasons: -durability -quality of plastic -rubber tires -die cast -big fists that can actually hold accessories -chrome -correct length smokestacks -correct colors -stickers! plus it gives me a shot at getting the ones i didn't have, and i get to have minty new ones for the ones i do have.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread

i have to contest the "they're supposed to be seen moving, not standing" line of thought. yes, they have to consider a character's motion, nuances, etc. but a design purely based on how it should move is a broken design. as stated, these are meant to be "living" designs, but you don't expect something living to be in perpetual motion. it has to stand still some time. to leave out how the designs looks static is a failing in the creative process. simple example: pick a sports car. they're meant to move, they're designed to be beautiful in motion, but they're also beautiful standing still. that's a true & complete design. -

wow. those are some really horrible designs. this so-called devastator isn't awe-inspiring. i wanted to laugh at it instead of going "ooh... most impressive" and the fallen looks like the bastard kid of TFA prowl & the alien from species. ugh. i can now honestly say i can design something that's a hundred times better. -
