i think they should take HG to court. if it was an exact 3D rendition of a Tomahawk, then they would certainly have problems, but the design in question isn't even a Tomahawk anymore. it's pretty much a re-imagined design. i don't see why they should bow down to HG's harassment. at the very least, they have things to sort out with BW/SN. but not HG.

Have YOU ever been banned from an internet Forum??
UN_MARINE replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
are we gonna see this "legendary door knob thread" anytime soon? i haven't been banned yet, but i've been given warnings by mods a couple of times. they were ninnies. one guy gave me some BS about putting a piece of work under a "models" category when they think it should be in "digital" you'd think that after i built the thing, i'd know if it was digital or not. the other time, i had a bunch of stuff for sale in a forum's for sale section (not MW) and this guy closes my thread. for some reason, they sub-divided the sub-sub category of the section & calls me off on "misplaced topic". it was like they had a simple "screws thread" & "nails thread" & they turned it into "screws/machine screws/big screws/phillips screws/reverse thread/countesrunk" section. wow. i don't post there anymore -
great progress! keep it up no problem here's the checkered pattern on the 1.3mm and here's the 1.1mm next to the 1.3mm try warming the material up before bending. body heat will do. the material's a little sensitive to heat, it will sag if it gets warm enough. BTW, you might want to check your cutter's blade every 1 tile you use. i used to swap out blades a lot. it's great stuff, but it's tough on tools

i too, have come full circle! i just got a Super VF-1A Hikaru. there is no more fear i tell you! the fear of things breaking is gone!!!

great build, MaveRick! congratulations on graduating from cardboard to vinyl Kent Vinyl flooring tile, right? stick to the single-color tiles. the laminated ones are terrible to work with. try to find the 1.1mm tiles, they're usually less brittle than the 1.3mm & usually don't have the checkered pattern at the back.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
exactly! plus the fact that the chips are apparently installed just on top of the base of the skull. same thing with the 600's targeting chips. stupid design. i guess that's how "smart" this new "Internets Skynet" is. i believe it was an FN F2000. they used the T800, governator likeness, the moto-terminators had plasma cannons all in wonderful CG, but they didn't want to spend for the 40watt plasma rifle. every explosion looked like it was nuclear, minus the radiation. maybe they think all explosions end with mushroom clouds. yeah, i hate those not-nuke batteries too. everything in T3 was a pointless leap backwards in terminator tech. -

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i just saw it today. well, it wasn't a complete waste of time. but almost everything was wrong with the movie. it clearly shows that the writers & director didn't understand Cameron's "vision". it felt exactly like what Verhoeven(?) did to Starship Troopers. yes. it's better than T3. it was entertaining & funny, with some of the highlights being... -"magnetic mines..." *CLINK* *BOOM* !!! wait... what?! they still brought him into the base? writer stupidity carrying over from writer stupidity in T3 -"night-time firefight & napalm scene" if a car radio alerts machines, then an all-out firefight doesn't? and all that radio chatter & A10 patrols didn't seem to be interesting to Skynet. any of that would've gotten the resistance compromised/killed. -"elbow drop to a metal chest plate" i can see how he could've reached the heart that way. -"human-friendly interface" this is actually an inherent flaw for Skynet. a machine hell-bent on wiping out mankind builds standard USB ports in its killing machines. you know, so the humans can hack & steal stuff conveniently. in the end, me & my friend agreed that it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't actually a true Terminator movie. it's -
that's possible. afterall, there's so & so years missing between Big Shell & MGS4. there's still a big chunk of in-between story to tell if they wanted to. but honestly, i couldn't stand 18 hours of Raiden & i wanted to tune him out every time in MGS4. i can't see myself going through a new MGS with 18-24 hours full of Raiden. but who knows, MGS5 could star... JOHNNY ! yeah. i'd play 18-24 hours of that.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
true, the 800 is only just being introduced. but what about all the other machines that were built before it? the machines would've had to start with a 100 series all the way to the 600's. that's 14 years of non-stop production & development, it would be reasonable to assume there would be thousands of the earlier models scattered around. take into account casualties & compromised bases, destroyed hardware & no way of replacing high-value hardware, 14-15 years of fighting would have backed them into a wall already. i have to imagine that in 15 years, Skynet would've destroyed more than a dozen installations, airfields, carriers & subs. the resistance having the equipment they have is just fine, it's the apparent over-abundance of it that seems off. -
i thought it was that and/or the GodBomber parts. check out his gauntlets there was one thing that pretty much shouted season 4 or future TFA at the end. too bad that was the last episode funny how i was imagining this show to go on for a while & having them show us Optimus becoming a Magnus or the Optimus of legend.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
UN_MARINE replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
the time travel thing was the last resort, not the Endos. they were pretty much buried up to their necks in Endos & HK's at that point. Reese implied the sheer mass of the machine effort with "hide during the day, move by night" when he was explaining things so Sarah. so yeah, minimal machine presence roughly 14 years into the war doesn't make sense. at the same time, with the war lasting that long, i wouldn't think the resistance would be so rich in resources anymore. -

wow, major "ugh" factor on the 1st week can't be good. and they're still not screening it over here. i take it Cameron's "big, steaming pile" statement is appropriate? i wonder how many more "Terminator" movies he'll let slip until he decides to do something. that's pretty stupid. last time i checked, if you take a hammer to a servo motor, no magnet is ever gonna put it back together again. i found it stupid when they did it in T3, it's still stupid now. -
it could be a 500-hour Metal Gear anthology game? imagine all the Metal Gear games reworked, integrated & given "awesome" 2-hour long cut scenes. ...plus the obligatory unskippable 18-hour end credits i hope it's Snatcher. i'd prefer "new gaming experience" over "more of the same"

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title

yup, i built the plasma rifle. the plasma rifle body is built from PVC board & the grip is from the "water pistol", cut to fit the main body. and the barrels are a combination of paper clips & styrene tubing. i used the Aoshima Plasma rifle for reference. i'm not sure if anybody else makes endo plasma rifles, but i've seen some 1/18 M41A Pulse Rifles being sold online. -

i just picked up a couple of the 1/18 endos today. it leaves a lot to be desired. archaic articulation, soft PVC, virtually no stability, & that ridiculous dropped jaw. i don't understand why Playmates prefers the dropped jaw. it looked ridiculous back in '96, it looks ridiculous now. but the 1/18 is the best looking sculpt. probably because the flaws are too small to be noticeable. the junkyard water pistol made me sad, so i decided to improve it a little... with 40 watts ! and here they are next to the Aoshima Endos -
if memory serves... they beamed into the ship right before the water started pumping into the tubes. there was enough time for Kirk to look around for Scotty & him responding by knocking on the tube. it's possible that the tube was empty when they beamed aboard.

yup. i see the back of a battroid VF-1 behind the bridge dome. that 700 meter Enterprise is just wrong. i agree, arbitrary misinformed wild-ass guesstimate "oh, it's bigger than..." so who cooked those numbers up? the same guy that said "we won't do mass-shifting" ?
