I finally got around to finishing the Rex -
I just got the new Asuka, it's got a few improvements like the new waist joint w/ a front rubber torso part. It allows for slight posing in the midsection, so it's not as stiff looking as the old version, but the way the joint is built (They used a new, slim double revoltech joint embedded in the waist)-it improves on, but also defeats the poseability. They also used the new elbow joints from the "new" Yoko, they used new revol joints w/ a ridge at the end of the peg, so the arms don't fall off when posing, but they didn't use it properly for the thighs. the ridged peg is embedded into the waist, but no ridge for the peg that goes into the thigh. They also used a new, smaller joint for the ankles, it does the clicking thing, but it's not a regular revol joint. I don't understand why they insist on using the small, weak joints for areas that are load-bearing. The figure's poseability suffers because the hip joints can't hold any positions. Oh, and the soles of the feet have cleats. they don't help much for standing. The partitions in the hair are a huge improvement over the original. I wish they could've used soft material like the Yoko. The swappable faces are ok, but you hardly see a difference between "happy" & "angry". Not to mention, a face w/ a closed mouth should have been included. The sculpting looks better too, she doesn't have that "duuuuh" look anymore & the skin tone is much better this time around, it's more natural & "translucent" compared to the original. The hands are pretty much ok. They can hold accessories from previous figures, but I don't understand why they needed to make a completely new peg for 1 set of hands. The "new" pair of hands have a pin at the wrist instead of the revol joint. It makes the cuffs that goes with it incompatible w/ the cuffs for the revol jointed hands. No real accessories though, just a mobile phone that's permanently flipped open & a "sensor" part that clips on to the collar. So yeah... that's the new Asuka (and Mari, i suppose). edit: pics!

...Why make an original film? At all? In "true Robotech tradition", They could simply cut up both Transformers movies, redub & call it Robotech. That way they get all the "actors" they need plus Megan Fox and "GIANT fartING ROBOTS". Not to mention they can claim how they "improved" the material buy cutting out whatever they find insignificant in the original films. Everybody wins! ...maybe not.

This smaller scale SDF-1 is great news, but did they just shrink the design or did they make improvements to it? The size reduction might actually be beneficial to the toy, getting rid of the floppiness we've seen on the large one. The prototype kit looked like it was eventually gonna collapse under its own weight. And will it still come with microscopic Valks?

I just got these 2, and I can't recommend them enough. This is the TakaTomy Arcee. based on the pics floating around, the main differences are the paint apps to the feet, the emblem tampo, that little dot on the chin & an overall matte finish. If you guys have an opportunity to get the TakaTomy version, DO IT! Brawn is just as awesome. Even more when I discovered that you could clip the guns to his back kibble. (you can clip them on facing down too, but they don't fit as flat/flush as they would facing up) This is probably the very few movie designs that i found impressive & hit the "5 fingers per hand/fist" category.

The shows would've gained popularity by themselves regardless of TV airtime. Take NGE for example; when i 1st heard of that show, nobody had the license to air it on TV. I had to see it through VHS but i managed to complete the show anyway. Next thing i knew, it was a huge hit. So the idea that Macross (or anime as we know it) wouldn't be popular if they weren't aired on TV is kinda... wrong.

Hmm... closer inspection shows that the hips don't actually clear the wings in the kneeling pose either. The big improvement is the adjustable hip width/distance which allows the hips to swing out further/sit slightly higher, giving a more "natural" pose. Deciding which hip/swing bar has a better design between the hi-metal & 1/60 v2 is a tough call. Great... now I really need one of these. -

Well... this is HG/Robotech. There is nothing too low they won't do. Too high, high enough or respectable... that's taboo.
-
That was unexpected... R.I.P.

That Xamel mission's a real pain. Especially all the aircraft you have to shoot down, but are too high up to actually hit & are always too close to the border when they get within range. Good times... I think it's funny that there isn't any Gundam game that has mobile suits moving as fast as their animation counterparts.
-
Sure. The numbers will be... "Gangbusters" Possible alternatives could include 2, 3, 900, 3000, (can't possibly be)1210, and 25. (or any other number relevant to the franchise)

I know that. I love the game, but I'm not inclined to play through it again even with, or just for the expansions.

Oh i did more than just the main quest. I managed to get everybody in Tenpenny killed, went to the Oasis, Cleared up the mess in Canterbury, wiped out Paradise falls, got the alien blaster and a whole lot more. I was fairly confident I had run through the game thoroughly, only to find out that there was still much more game left in the game. That's great and all, but I'm not the kind to spend time trying to get 100%. Not to mention the Lv20 cap kinda killed the interest to do more.

Gungrave & Gungrave OD -Pretty much a simple-minded linear 3rd person shoot-em-up. And that's why i love 'em. Sometimes i just want to blow stuff away and not think. Fallout 3 -It was great and all, but after I finished it and checked the trophies - I realized i had only completed 6% ! I don't plan on playing through that again. The Saboteur (and any other free-roaming game) -I had fun with it but after the "story", all those extra targets just became tedious. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 1/2 -Great hack 'n slash game, but when it takes you 1-2 hours just to complete a (short) mission... the button mashing wore out my thumbs. Gundam: Target in Sight -Too short. Byonetta -Between the button mashing, impossible "requirements" & the supposed fanservice, I still don't know if i like or hate it.

-Great for wandering inside giant alien ships -Good for watching MBS -Excellent for demolishing buildings -Better than a treadmill

By all means, you're welcome to raise hell. Nobody will ban you for it. (not on this site, anyway) Unless of course, you're somehow inexplicably sworn to secrecy & divulging this "I told you, but I can't say" information will mark you for your immediate demise. I don't mean to be rude, but shady talk like this never gets anywhere. Please back up your claims. otherwise, it's just like what Tommy and Kevin do all the time.

I can't help thinking... Is the lack of a completed script the fault of the writers they brought aboard for the RLAM, or is it because the RT story itself is so incoherent and confusing that all the writers couldn't make anything good with it?

The sheer complexity of the machine would probably kill it before anybody can get past the initial test flights. While M0 kinda had it right that in order to transform, you had to slow down. All the stresses involved would most likely still break something. Imagine if any of the transforming elements failed, the aircraft would instantly lose any and all structural integrity, aerodynamics and control. Granted, transforming is possible; but you'd need to do it slow enough to keep the thing in the air. but "slow enough" will also get you shot down in a split second. There's also the matter of powering the thing. You'd probably need something that generates half the power of a small country to get it to stay in the air and transform. I can see mecha being adopted in some way, but none of them as tall as destroids and they wouldn't redefine warfare as we know it. At best, they'll compliment the existing/newly developed tanks, choppers & planes, just like an aiming module on a rifle. Somewhat useful, Useless w/o batteries & will mostly let "real" weapon do the work by itself. Not to mention things like RPG's, Rockets, Missiles, IED's, really large bullets... You'd econsider the cost of building something so complicated but can be destroyed by something ridiculously cheaper.

hmm... clenched fist w/ molded gunpod grip. I take it the gunpod itself is collapsible, but not the trigger group? It kinda feels like something in between the Toynami gunpod/fist combo & the Revoltech gunpod/fist combo. The shoulder mechanism is really interesting. It's about as close as you can get to line art accurate. It's kind of a shame that at this scale, it hollows out the back section. Bring on the Strike Valks! -
Since the core fighter isn't a factor, I would definitely recommend the OYW over the 2.0. The only nitpick i have about the OYW is the lack of articulation in the thighs. You can only rotate the legs outward as far as the hip ball joints will allow. Some additional rotation would've been a big plus.
-
From what i can tell, the OYW has better proportions than the 2.0 but the legs uses the old 1.5 inner frame. It also doesn't have a Core Fighter or the new double jointed fingers. I suppose the 2.0 comes off as superior because of its inner frame & extra accessories, but the armor is "cartoony". It's strange that they pushed for the super real inner frame, then used the animation style armor. Not as imposing as the OYW. I think the "perfect" MG RX-78 might be a combination of the 2.0's inner frame & the OYW's armor.

But isn't that exactly the kind of fanbase HG/RT prefer? After all, they believe their fanbase consists of children. So this Rhade guy... he believes he's some sort of authority on the difference between Macross/Robotech, but he thinks the Macross timeline is a mess? What exactly is confusing about the Macross timeline? Are the dates & numbers too much for these people? Oh wait... never mind... Robotech people w/ their "numbers". the SDF-1 is 0.87 long
