  1. I finally managed to pick up a pair of 3A figures! Now I know what the fuss is all about. I don't know much about the fiction, but they look really cool. The skulls are apparently bombs. They tend to have some QC issues though. The Penumbra figure (black) has paint chips in a few areas & a cracked shoulder socket, causing the arm to pop off at times and the Cherry Bomb figure (red) had its right knee glued in place. Nothing I couldn't fix, but still inconvenient.
  2. So far, most of it looks "fixable". I suppose it's a "true" model kit - you don't get a nice one until you put some work to it. But man... those knees are really bothering me, Along with the "Bandai nose". The shape's significantly better, but it's still there.
  3. 1/3000 Daedalus, Prometheus & support ships. My SDF-1 is so lonely...
  4. There's a review up on Gunjap. http://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=141754 Not a good sign for the FAST packs......
  5. I just feel like they could've done the ankle panel differently, it breaks up the shape of the leg when it's extended outward. I honestly did not see the irony in using the word "cartoonish" when I wrote that.
  6. Probably. But I have a hard time believing all the unusual details* were done at Kawamori's request. *Bandai's patented incorrect chest stripes, 3 different sizes of circle verniers, cartoonish oversized heads, strange panel lines, VF-25 knees, outdated tailfin joints, dislocating ankle panel & "Valk in hotpants".
  7. Maybe it's a matter of pride? With their MG 3.0 RX-78 coming out, there's just no excuse for all the things that are wrong with this VF-1 kit. This kit feels like (really good, internet famous) fan art, instead of official licensed product. Maybe Bandai really doesn't like Macross?
  8. I suppose that's understandable, but everything up to this point makes Bandai look like it's been intentionally hiding in its own Cone of Silence for the past 10-12 years.
  9. Oh, sorry. I didn't mean the legs. I encircled the part on the nose where the hips are supposed to connect. The manual says that you have to remove the bar at the nose covering the slots for the hip joints, just like the v1.
  10. Sigh... Parts swap-out. Just like the V1 1/60.
  11. Just when I thought I could leave it all behind, they give me a reason to buy Macross toys again! GO ARCADIA!
  12. You guys are forgetting the "Bay bot/altmode aesthetic ratio". The Aventador is a super pretty car, which means bot mode will be super hideous. As for who, my guess would be... Ratbat or Shakticon.
  13. Thanks Haha don't forget "I ain't got time to bleed!". Well, MGS has its share of inexplicable superhuman strength, so why not? I don't remember the Big Boss figure, or was it Vulcan Raven?
  14. It's from MGS: Peace Walker, here's a screen cap: And the figure it's made for:
  15. Finally got this looking like it should. I'm hoping a couple of guys recognize it. Still need to do the finishing work, but I'm happy with it.
  16. Looks like the problem's gone. Thanks!
  17. More info: It's been redirecting to the main page too. This happened just a few minutes ago. MWREDIRECT.bmp MWREDIRECT2.bmp So far, this is the only site that's acting this way on my browser.
  18. Hi guys, I've been getting 404 errors for this site a lot recently, is there something I can do to fix this problem? Here's a screen cap.: MW404.bmp
  19. So it's a Macek/Robotech documentary, where they will lovingly (dis)credit the original shows & creators? Wow... Plus a teaser for the already available, but somehow "new & unseen!" LLA. That's Robotech Progress !
  20. I suppose... Maybe they're still shy about admitting conformity to the EA business model?
  21. It's possible that Ground Zeroes could be like MGO. Phantom pain could be the actual game, which is traditionally linear, then we have Ground Zeroes as a separate install included in the disc-Ground Zeroes will probably work as the prologue thing, along with the open world sandbox stuff.
  22. The new transformation mechanism's pretty sweet, though I feel it's just a bit more fragile than we want it to be. It'd probably be more impressive if this kit was intended to be produced like the RG kits. Also, those 2 holes on the backpack look suspicious, are they for locking the arms in place in fighter mode? Yeah, the FP's back parts look a little small too.
  23. Got the Kotobukiya Rex to stand. It still needs glue & filler in a lot of places. I really want it to look like the 3A Rex, but I'm not sure how they do their paintwork.
  24. It's one of the nicest boxes I've seen. I'm kinda bummed mine got a little beat up on the way home. It's about 7 inches tall in the standing/walking position from ground to the head. 8 inches if you count the radome. The railgun's just a little over 8.5 inches, & the base is 6x6 inches square.
  25. Just got my hands on this bad boy! Awesome kit, although with the usual Kotobukiya quirks. ...no decal sheet, just a pattern & paint ratio guide.
