CONGRATULATIONS! Those came out great! The finish is great and I have to second on the great decal work. Bit by bit your house is becoming more "Macrossy" everyday - in other words, a fan's paradise. -MT

This is coming along great! I'm not a digital guy, but a scratch build modeller in plastic. To encourage you, A LOT of my parts are redone several times and it's not as easy as "cut and paste" or "delete" to fix them. But when you don't quite like what you've done - you've GOT to redo it! That's what quality is. Keep up the great work! - MT

WOW! I'm just seeing this great work! It's realistic and the textures and weathering are VERY realistic! - MT

I'm just now catching this. Great looking getups guys! 505th - if you take and get your foam to shape, you can cover it with fiberglass sheet strips. You can then use super glue (with foam proof accelerator). It will be tough and without the stink and mess of resin. More glue and sanding with primer will give you a smooth surface. Its an old R/C boat trick. - MT

That's a nice looking set! Looks like the doors are hinged as well. It's the small things like that that make it cool. - MT- 12 replies

I READ these were photos of the model, but they DO LOOK CG! I'm not the only one to think that! Great change of color and nice design! The Monster can look great in a bunch of designs. A couple of us from Cali chated last year about a 1/200 monster they had at Pony Toy Go Round (80's in L.A.) with a parrot "beak" looking front and eyes with bright colors. I wish I had those photos! Awesome - clean build! I wouldn't call it "basic" on the skills scale, especially with the metal mods and paint. Fellow MW'ers, don't play cards with vf-1x, he's a "sandbagger!" We'll also give you props for getting in shape while lifting AND building it! - MT

That looks great Felindar! Are you able to put them on a page format to be printed out on a decal sheet? The cut vinyl sheet are cool, but will be lumpy when painting By the way, where did you get the smaller Macross figures below them? The buildings look cool too! Thanks! - MT

Thanks Felindar, do you have a placement guide?- MT

This is an age old problem, especially for Gunpla kits. Just holding painted parts will rub the paint off. Like Grapetang said about molded in color. That's what I try to do with all my kits and then just add a slight bit of similar color to simulate dirt/wear then clear coat. The clear coat will still eventually rub off though. Putting on a heavier coat in an area may work - if it doesn't show easily. Nail polish can work too - but will also look different. In fact, an old trick is nail polish can be built up to make new canopies! Once again if the parts aren't seen too easily, a clear piece of plastic may protect the parts. Maybe just small enough to keep the paint from rubbing. There are epoxy paints, but that's like using a sword to butter your toast! They too can be tough to work with and potentiall lumpy if not used right. For regular paints, others have said Gunze's is best for acrylics, and then like Grpaetang said about lacquers. I hope that helps! - MT
