That's looking great! So far you're keeping that nice "organic" feel that the Zentraedi craft have. The good news is you don't have to make smooth, perfect surfaces. - MT

This is sad because it would be a GREAT model! - MT

This build is coming along great! Even the stand is cool with the friction ball joints! Thanks for sharing your progress. - MT

This thing is going to weigh a ton! Still looking great so far! - MT

That's a GREAT upgrade to the original and putting it all into the hanger is even better! Great finish work too! So which way are you going to display it, vertically or horizontally? - MT

It's been a weird year with most of my time in school! Got the Bug Eye done and the Daedalus done and shipped out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdbQJdQ0FG4jaIyQMimapeQ Started and nearly completed a VC-27 Tunny (more on that later). My son and I built the Gundam Xekueins. Restored a 1/10th Space Shuttle model. Most work was in tooling or miscellaneous stuff: Steel cellphone holster (plastic kept breaking) Vacuum attachment for CNC machine Combination switchblade key for the car Pulley set for the mill Cutoff tool holder and round cutter for lathe And other miscellaneous tools... I'm hoping 2016 sees the release of the 1/350th kits I started a while back. - MT

1:48 F-14A Tomcat - Macross Zero - Shin Kudo custom
MechTech replied to spanner's topic in Model kits
That kit came out great! Plus I love the custom tail decals! I had the Monogram 1/32 kit and loved it! Variable wings and rubber tires. We have a couple assembled ones at the museum too. I believe the horizontal stabs are cross linked as well as having most ordinance as well. Contracts on getting a great build!-MT -
Looking awesome and glad to see you're making the missile hatches open! As for the pilot, the only pictures I found just show the waist opening. This one is from the Macross Mecha Manual (shameless plug for one of our members): http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/queadluun-rau.htm%C2'> I would suspect the pilot's legs go into the mechas legs. I love the way you made that happen! - MT

@Arbit - why not try using strong magents along the seems or micro flat head screws with nuts (I've done both). @Derex - That Falcon came out AWESOME for a $35 piece of plastic! Hopefuilly your boss appreciates it! That sucks about your dad, but cool you have photos of him up. I lost two grandparents to Alzheimers and it was sad to see them slowly not know who I was. The good news is at least you can remember your dad! - MT

Your file did not die in vain! Nice job on a tough subject. I have to agree with the weathering comments too; it looks great! - MT

You still use the same decal paper with a "best" setting. It's a glossy media, not pourous like papers so you should be good to go.- MT

The decal is no problem: http://www.micromark.com/clear-decal-paper-for-ink-jet-printers-5-sheets,7942.html Scroll down for the other decal accesories like fixative, dull coat or Solvaset. The vinyl will be a problem. As soon as you mentioned the figure, I thought it would be vinyl. The decal is on a polymer film and the vinyl is flat (matt) surfaced. It's like putting a piece of glass on sand, the shiny part stands out and doesn't lay down, sometimes holding air bubbles underneath. Maybe a clear gloss coat wherew the tattoo will go and then laying the decal on top of it with a flat coat to make it look original. But vinyl is flexible; too much flex might crack the clear coats. What about actual inkjet tattoo papers? Here's some other ideas I serached for there's tons, but most are on hard plastic - not porous vinyl. Hope that helps somewhat. - MT http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/sixth-scale-action-figure-news-reviews-discussion/564676-my-experiment-applying-tattoos.html

Adding silver to the head clear parts is a great idea. I like to use the same technique myself. - MT -
NOBODY is swooshing this around! No matter how big a muscles they got! Seriously though, it looks great!!! You may be able to use metal hardware internally and A LOT of cement to weld it together! This project is going to cost some serious dough and time! - MT

Yeah, it's looking great! - MT
