That Hatsuyuki-Class DD Flight Deck is REALLY cool! I've never seen anything like that. - MT

I agree, I think you have the BEST TV SDF-1 out there! It looks AWESOME! - MT

Looks cool NZEOD! As much as I like Lupin, the Ultimate Nipako bus will probably show marks from heating up. Then again, that could be a good thing! - MT

Due to time constraints, I usually stick to the modelling threads, but thought of you guys this weekend at the Patuxent River Naval Base Air Expo. The Decepticons are getting bolder! Same emblem on the nose too. Its a test and evaluation Osprey. On a side note, if any of you guys needs specific photos of the following aircraft on display at the Patuxent Naval Air Museum where I volunteer, just PM me. They are not operational of course, so they're missing engines and the main components. This is a quick paste from Wikipedia (not mine). NA-4M Skyhawk McDonnell Douglas RA-5C Vigilante North American NA-6E Intruder Grumman NA-7A Corsair II Ling-Temco-Vought F-4J Phantom II McDonnell Douglas NF-6A(F4D) Skyray Douglas F9F-8B Cougar Grumman F-14A Tomcat Grumman NF/A-18A Hornet McDonnell Douglas E-2B Hawkeye Grumman AH-1J Seacobra Bell TH-1L Iroquois Bell SH-2G Seasprite Kaman CH-53A Sea Stallion Sikorsky S-2D (S2F-3) Tracker Grumman S-3B Viking Lockheed T-34B Turbo Mentor Raytheon T-39D Sabreliner North American Rockwell X-32B JSF STOVL Demonstrator Boeing X-35C JSF Carrier Demonstrator Lockheed Martin Recent additions: T-2 Buckeye T-38 Talon H-3 Sea King MiG-21 Cockpit and nose section Have a good day! - MT

I thought of machining a stamp for padeyes - in 1/350th scale. Hand or CNC machine stamped. Then I realized I don't have access to nanotechnology. - MT

If you want to go accurate with people, Preiser makes some of the best 1/100 molded figures: https://www.reynaulds.com/catalog/dept_361.aspx They have a set of orange jumpsuit mechanics - perfect for Macross dioramas. I bought the WHOLE set of 1/200 figures and was blown away by the tiny details. You even get cows! - MT

Looking good Arbit. NZEOD, physical pain is the not the only thing you don't feel It's hurts me just looking at it. - MT

[WIP]Sukhoi VFSu-22 1/48 - polish veritech fighter...well, kind of :)

This looks like a great combination! - MT -
Yeah, the Top Gun music probably got it thrown out for copyright violation. But thanks for sharing the rest we can see. - MT

The watch looks great Cap'n! Nice styling! Go Derex Go! That's an insane scheme NZEOD! But it looks great! Finally working on the 1/350 VC-27 after months of moving and school. I'll have to post photos later. - MT
-
Thanks for sharing that! They have some AWESOME stuff at that site! - MT
-
Yes, it does move. It can get loose like the old styrene joints do, but I'm sure you're gluing it. Keep us posted! - MT

So if I ever go diving with the Capain's watch on, it's good to know it will live longer than I will at that depth! I can't purge my eardrums anyhow. But the watch and band looks great! Great Corsair 505th! Derex, the A wing looks great! Keep us posted on the SDF-1! I too built mine back in the 80's. Surprisingly, most of the pieces (emphasis on the pieces) survive on my son's shelf. I scored one on ebay for $50 and I'm waiting to build it "right" with lots of details. The Hasegawa kit looks nice, but that whole front end thing puts me off it. I think this is STILL the best injected kit of the TV version in cruiser mode. - MT

Scratch Building/Model Modification Archive Thread
MechTech replied to Dax415's topic in The Workshop!
Cardboard may not work well, especially over a foot in diameter. There's too much flex in it, even after gluing a sheet of styrene to it. I'd recommend something stiffer like plywood or thin MDF board which can still be cheap and bought usually in smaller sheets. Whatever the case, you will want to seal it with a clear coating from moisture and give the other medias something stable to stick to. - MT -
You know what that diorama needs? GODZILLA! Whoops, wrong thread Seriously though, that would look great even with some LED "candles." But I'm sure you're gonna whip out the micro chip controller. - MT

It looks great! The shading is a nice touch. - MT -
That came out great! NZEOD is a nice guy! -MT

That TSM deck looks great! - MT

Like valhary said, scan it and then you can rescale it either on your printer or photocopier. Test print and cutout with plain paper. I can't make any suggestions for scaling since each company scales differently in the same way not all shoes sizes really are what the box says. - MT
-
The watch looks great John! I bet it withstands a lot of punishment! Great looking kitchen and miniatures NZEOD! The back lighting in the kitchen is a nice touch! - MT
-
Thanks for posting that Derex! It gives better perspective of their size. Just like clothes, not everybody uses the same sizes or scales the same making you have to try stuff on or open up a model box. - MT

Making some of the lesser known vehicles from SDFM
MechTech replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Model kits
That doesn't sound right. I have 1/72nd scale sized figures printed from Shapeways and all the detail was in them. They also have 1/350th armored valks slightly larger than a quarter up on their store. - MT -
That looks cool, but would be a masking nightmare! I haven't seen the series yet, but these look more like air show birds than military air frames. - MT
-
That looks great Arbit! That will look great when completed. I have the 1/350th Yamato I'm waiting on some time to build, but I think yours will end up better. Those Thunderbolts look really good Joscasle. Nice n clean - at least for now. - MT
