  1. Somebody likes Dylan and has off-roading on the brain!!! - MT
  2. Derex - Your little ships look great too besides the destroyer! I bet you needed magnifiers for those tiny things. Peter - Your damage looks awesome! Wait, that just sounds wrong!? I think Chronocidal is right, some wire would look cool. Duymon - Should we be worried you're stockpiling weapons of mass destruction (and pilots) That is a LOT of weapons sets for the valk. I think it's cool though! Naked planes are boring (unless they're aerobatic craft). - MT
  3. That looks awesome Takatoys! It's sad you pay so much for something and then have to spend all that time "fixing it." - MT
  4. Nice touch! That adds more scale to it. I imagine something this large would have a lot of weathering taking up so much real estate wherever it goes. - MT
  5. For those who really wanted to "blow the Zentraedi away!" Thanks again JV Macross!- MT
  6. - THANKS A MIILION - JV Macross for posting all of these up here!!! It's great to see all these promos we mostly never got in the U.S. It's funny to see how people were already taking the Macross kits and modding them to improve them. It's so sad that Imai folded. They had SO MANY AWESOME KITS!!! Many a kid (and adult) has spent time drooling over them hoping to get that one kit. No Imai - I will not get sucked into buying your models! Oh wait, I'm 35+ years too late! - MT
  7. Created the mount and trunnions for the mechanism. Now it can elevate! I also shortened the barrel base and narrowed the main mechanism box at the base so it elevates into the cylinder base better. Everything is tightly compacted into a small area. Now it's actually styrene time again for the housing details. - MT
  8. WM Cheng - That Rhino is a BEAUTIFUL build!!! I agree, it does look like a 1/48 build! Great finish and just enough weathering to show it's used. AWESOME photos too! Great shots and angles. If that's just your phone, I gotta get one. My phone is like 8 years old! Peter - Your progress is looking good - in a blown-up sorta way! That's cool that the nacelles line up. Oh, the bits are from the Bandai 1/72 Valk you just built. Convectuoso - The Tornado is looking good so far! Duymon - Nice break from your brownie! Between my second carpal tunnel surgery and going into work too, so slow going on the builds. Question - Is the suit for that solid, or did they do a vinyl cover for it? A track suit would be funny!!! Derex - The colors are looking good. You can see the cross-hatch pattern on the one side. Your call on it, but you know we're with ya! Joscasle - That A-wing is coming along great! - MT
  9. Come on Peter, tell the truth. You're just getting even with that kit for how bad it was to you last build! Have some fun. Try a little match head or black powder in the blast holes. then heat it up with a lighter or small torch. The effect is cool and you can't get any more realistic! Your mods are looking good too! Photogirl - If you feel up to it, the Zenraedi flagship doesn't look so bad if you stretch it and fill it in with some Miliput or similar epoxy putty. I'm thinking of doing the same someday with mine. The kit is cool just for the nostalgia though! - MT
  10. Derex - Just do it! Rock - +1 on the snow coming! Just because of the cooler weather. Duymon - That's a awesome paint scheme! I like the colors. That's also a sad but true meme! Not with my wife though. That would result in my collection going to my next of kin! - MT
  11. Gabe - Nice n clean PE job! It can be "fun" to work with! Joscasle - Cool lineup of ships! Great finish on the snow speeder. Just enough wear and tear to be believable! - MT
  12. Pengbuzz - Those are some cool mods! Opening the leg, adding an engine and maintainers really adds to the scene. It tells a story instead of just sitting there. Derex - I think you used the right shade of Flory's along with your layers of paint. The color looks great from the photos. It's tough recreating finishes on something that's supposed to be giant. You may want to check it outside in natural sunlight too. That will give you a good look at it. - MT
  13. That looks much better! Working in metal makes it all that much more "fun." - MT
  14. "The actual stores are dangerous as well. I stopped by the Ikebukuro Mandarake the other day and left with my wallet 11,000 yen (incl. tax) lighter." I don't want to even think about it! I know I'd blow way too much money. I'd be living off ramen and bologna sandwiches (or the Japanese equivalent) the rest of my trip! It would be a blast though! - MT
  15. Peter - Tell your son he did a good job! Pengbuzz - That's a cool idea and looks great! That's an unusual way to display the model and one that stands out too! - MT
  16. Stay off Mandarake Chas! Step away from the computer! It will cost you! But it's so much fun They have so much cool stuff! Hope you find some cool LPs. - MT
  17. Peter - Speaking to son, "Son, the detail fairy came last night and look what she did!" She left this paint scheme suggestion too! Sorry, no money under your pillow though Pengbuzz - That speeder looks awesome! Perfect for picking-off womp rats (though it's not a T-16) and smuggling droids that "You are not looking for." WM Cheng - Sorry, I missed your post comments. Here's the link to IPMS Canada: https://www.ipmscanada.com/ The airbrush cartoon up there is FUNNY! I don't know how they are up North, but here, my club's guys (non-IPMS) tell me about comments the judges have made on their models at contests. They have lost points for incorrect dehydral in wings, wrong metal finishes, and other nit-pick details. The shows as a whole are awesome to see what people do. I'm going to try to go to the next one nearby when the whole pandemic thang is done. - MT
  18. If anyone asks, "Hey, MechTech, why don't you build any Star Trek models," just ask Peter! I have to agree with Thom, it takes a lot of character to persevere with that model judging by the posts you made. But I got to say - CONGRATS - IT LOOKS AWESOME!!! I noticed you added even MORE hardware onto tit. Definitely need to rename it now U.S.S. Hardware Store or Perseverance! Now you just need to protect it from an unexpected "reentry" into the floor! Duymon - I like the colors! It's looking nice and clean too! Electric Indigo - Your decal job looks great! They probably have all those stencils since the Soviets had less training on their machines than the West. Plus, when you're a conscript, you just plain out care less! - MT
  19. That looks cool in wood! Great looking design! - MT
  20. Peter - Your U.S.S. Hardware Store is looking great! The decals do make it stand out. Keep trekking along with all your efforts, it will be worth it when you're done. WM Cheng - That's some seriously awesome detail - including the handles! Unless you're going to an IPMS show, I would build it canopy open. That's a lot of work to hide under glazing. - MT
  21. Cool design! I can tell you put a lot of hours into engineering it. - MT
  22. Never thought I'd say this on MW, but hey, really nice chair! Personal opinion, wood grain and color would make it part of the scene and add detail to it. - MT
  23. That looks awesome! Nice photos and Photo-shopping too! - MT
  24. That looks AWESOME and accurate! I'm trying to figure out if it'a resin or styrene. Either way it would be cool to have. - MT
  25. As long as you have some of the original Macross LP's in there, it's a good excuse! I have some and no turntable I think the Bronco kit was like the original Red Bioroid; just a few produced and no reproductions. If it's in it's original plastic wrap, I wouldn't touch it personally and count it as an asset. Otherwise, I think open kits are fair game for building. It's a double edged sword. They're fun to collect and look at, but then why have a model and not build it? - MT
