5.5 FOOT LONG PLAYMAKE SDF-1 TOY anyone know anything about this thing
MechTech replied to ae_productions's topic in Toys
I had two!!! I had a busted up one I got from a friend, then I found a brand new one in an old comic book store. I hung it from my ceilign with fishing line and had a "squadron" of 1/200 Nichimo valks flying around it with a couple of battlepods (same make) "flying" around it too. It's a RARE item and $80 is awesome for a "chunk" of cardboard! I VERY RELUCTANTLY had to toss it when moving away from home. My first one fell apart easily so the second one got glued gunned together. No way to tear it down and ship it to myself :^( Enjoy yours! -MT -
ALL those look great!!! Even on the last 1/48th Valk I noicd the pilot is slammed forward just as in the anime! - MT

Bandai planning to re-release more classic IMAI kits
MechTech replied to AcroRay's topic in Model kits
Galactic Trade Commission was Da Bomb for mailorder stuff!!! I STILL have one of the monsters I got from them (and a whole lotta other stuff). We got our kits in the mail a couple of weeks ago. When I called my wife and she told me the 2 regults and the Monster came in, she asked me, "now which one(s) are for your son and which one is for you :^) I gotta say it, there's no school like the old school! I do love the new kits too, but the classics are when the whole Macross thing was in it's infancy. - MT -
Hey Million Star, I'm still around, but hundreds of miles from my shop! I'm hoping to be back to begin work in February. Good thing I'm getting updates via e-mail or I'd miss this! I don't have much chance to get on MW often these days, but looking forward to beginning of the year!-MT

Bandai planning to re-release more classic IMAI kits

I loved the base of the first monster better. In the series it's making that "stomp" on the Daedalus and crushing the armor plate. If I was the captain, I'd be like, "how many times did we tell you not to walk on the deck." The second model has a much better pose on it. It's interesting that thing has "hover feet." Talk about some serious thrust! Thanks EI for posting! And yes, I bought a monster for my son and I to build and two pods. He gets two models and I get one pod to add to my collection. I never did get a pod all those years ago! - MT -
Who said bigger isn't better? Nice job man! I think you'll get a "few" people wanting this! - MT

Great job Ahiachris, don't take this the wrong way, but, sexy legs Keep up the good work! Do we see you making extras later on? - MT

I'm glad I had a chance to "pop in." This is coming along nicely! How much are you charging? If it's within budget, I know a little girl who might your figure in her room. Yes, the children are Macross fans too! Make justifying my habbit easier ;^) - MT

It's a good thing I checked back here! What great news! When I asked about this 10 years ago my wife and I both had a job and it was about $500 then :^) Stupid infaltion! Depending on start time and cost, might just go for it! - MT

I still think big is sexy - at least in this case. I'm looking forward to this. I'll just have to buy it for my son so we can build it together - then keep it in my area ;^) - MT

Looking great guys! Macross - making physics phun again! - MT -
Thanks for the feedback! When I get back to civilization, 3D printing is something to consider. I hope all goes well with the casting! - MT
-
Those look great man!!! The 3D prototyping process is really cool. Your artwork looks great finalized. If yo don't mind me asking, what do they charge for a protoype of the smaller vehicles in 1/100 size? I've thought of doing some 3D prototyping before, but way back then it was really expensive. You know, now you REALLY have to come through! Guys have been waiting years to get these vehicles! Even the Imai ones were unaccurate for 1/100 scale. I wish you the best of success with your project! - MT

I've got decals over twenty years old (and yes I still use them from time to time). Just keep everything sealed, out of the light, and outa sight and you should be fine. I occasionalyl look at my old kits that SOMEDAY I WILL BUILD (really), just not today Some of my kits are also 20+ years old and there are no problems with them either. The stuff I had sitting out on my shelves, some of it you could never tell it was white! Like TSP said, keep it shut. There's nothing like that "new kit smell!" - MT

Grapeape, the Spartan is a nice kit regardless of it's age. I built one and thought it was cool. The whole cannon array popping out of the chest is cool too! I'm looking forward to these releases. If anybody sees some early bird specials or has some intel on when these will be available, please share! - MT -

Great work Captain! I don't often get time to pop into MW, but this was worth it! Yuor ship is coming along great! So you're back to Ren board and off MDF? Just curious, what grade of Ren are you using and what putty? When I get back to civilization (and my shop) in a few months, I'm starting back up on building. - MT -
Yeah, I think I would build a new room just to decorate it with these and my other goodies. Then I would officially open it up as a museum, seek tax shelter, and charge entry fees (one old Arii kit each ;^) for building up the display cases. An additional fee would be charged for those that drool on the floor! - MT

I'm playing catchup...The mod looks great! Now you just need to find a BIG - good home for it! - MT -
I finally was able to stay long enough on line to see this build. Great job and very educational for those just starting! This is big enough to be a lunchbox like I was saying in the buildup for the master. Just put a handle on it Keep up the great work! - MT
