You know, the Philippines was the first place I though of when I got out of the air conditioned air port in San Antonio, I felt like I did when I got out of the Manila airport, "It's F'ing hot and sticky here!" And yeah, for the most part earthquakes here are over rated, I mean unless your at the epicenter, or a really big one it's more a nuisance or a pain in the ass than anything. It just knocked my collection over, but my friend living just north of Santa Maria was closer to the epicenter and get her power knocked out. I'd rather live here than in Tornado Ally. For the mean time I was thinking I just keep the empty boxes on the floor by where my collection is to break the fall of who ever goes over the edge, since I'm kind of broke right now to buy one of those cases or building materials. And I don't keep them too high off the ground.

The one I posted up came from the art book they gave out for free (The Art of Soul Calibur II) to people who reseved a copy soon enough.

No you didn't flat out say it, but the tones and your statements in your posts indicate it, such as your insistance on labeing those who do not agree with you as "ignorant." And no it's not a fact, but an opinion of yours. Well I'm done beating this horse for good, it's becomming a waste of time...

Me neither, can't think of any other state I'd rather live in, so I guess that means I'm either going to have to get one of those cases, or make one myself.

OK that earthquake knocked down my entire Macross collection, all of my Yamatos had fallen off my desk. You guys know a way to earthquake proof your collections?

They look really nice but I'm not about to spend more than $30 on them.

The thing I don't like about Ivy's second outfit is that it makes her shaped kind of weird with big-ass shoulders and a thick chest. Doesn't really look femenin. I wish they had gone with her consept design for the second one, she had a black military style outfit with a matchin beret and it was all form fitting.

It's by YOU speaking down and using a contemptous tone to everyone who doesn't agree with you. OK we know you don't want it changed, fine, that's cool, but there's no need to insult people (yes, some people see getting called ignorant as an insult) who don't completly agree with you. Just because you don't like dubs doesn't make YOU any better than the person who likes dubs. So like Panon said: "stop being such an elitist snob about it." And like the Haro said: "get off your little "superiority complex" and just chill!"

That's what killed it for me, was the way they made Basara's personality. I mean I agreed with him the military force wasn't everything, but then like the U.N. Spacy he had a "my way or the highway" mentality. I mean why didn't he rally all the bands on the fleet togeather, I'm sure Firebomber wasn't the only one. Sure they didn't have VFs but the U.N. could have issued out more speaker gunpods for the 11s, and it would have been good for colonists. Then he goes and get's pissy that people don't understand him, well what has he done to get people to understand him? Yes the U.N. didn't really care much for him, but why didn't he just go straight to Max or Millia, they've seen what culture can do, especialy Millia? I've run into people like Basara before in real life and each time I've wanted to smack them, and even occationaly want beat the crap out of them. I can't stand royally self centered people. Basara's what really killed 7 for me. Now all I do is watch it for the mechs and to see Max and Millia team up again.

Sure Basara doesn't have much character development, but thats the point, its because he believes sooo much in his music and the effect it can have. This was the overriding theme in the story. Music was important because what I said above, its a question of pacifism vs militarism. Kawamori is really putting pacifism as the right way to go. Having Basara being a pacifist without using music or anything else would just make the television show stupid. So he does it with music. I think the Kawamori made a television show that was WAAAAAAY more deep than any gundam or most shows out there. I agree with you on the whole pacifism and militarism thing, but I guess I just don't like the way it was convayed in 7 as opposed to SDF. With the way they made Basara's character and all...

Uhh maybe you have been watching Robotech, in macross only two people die, Roy and Kazikazi... thats it. eveybody else survives, the love triange, max/mil, Bridge crew, Good zentredis. ect ect. Eh? Where did I say everyone dies?

Maybe it's just me, but I really didn't see all that much character development in 7. Basara pretty much stayed self-centered and looked down on those who didn't understand him (like the UN Spacy people), Mylene didn't really seem to change all that much either. The only charcters I could see some development with was Max and Millia, where they were patching up their relationship (it was nice seeing them hitting some rough spots), Gamlin lightening up a bit, and the biggest one with Sivil singing and realizing she didn't need to feed off others. You compare all that to the original where hardly anyone was the same in the end as they were in the beggining. I have to agree with Duke Togo, Macross is about people in the backdrop of war and how they act towards allies and enemies and how they handle their feelings. Plus and Zero do focus more on character and again I have to agree with Duke Togo on those two being more faithful to the origninal than 7 is. 7 is the only one that has music by itself as the end all be all solution to every problem.

Hey some people get annoyed by those bars on widescreen mode. While I have no problem with those and neither do you, but there are people who find it irritating, and would prefer the hack job. But if you want call people who do ignorant, yeah go and be my guest, because I'm not going to bother with something like that. Still I just can't help but see a supiriority complex in your posts regarding people who don't agree with you, but hey that's beside the point. OK, uninformed about what? There you go again with the "ignorant people" thing. What of the people who are "informed" yet would rather see a dub. I mean I'm informed about both of them, I watch both, yet sometimes I'd rather watch a dub, like when I'm eating or my brain is too fried from class work. You think a 4-12 kid with somewhat short attention spans will really give a crap about whether or not something is in it's original language or not? If it can't hold their attention they won't watch it, and I've given some examples of kids who a sub can't hold their attention and I'm sure it's not an isolated case. I mean sure go ahead and inform them, (I mean my friend's done his best "informing" those kids, and they know about subs and all...) but for some people that won't change the fact that they'd rather watch a dub. People who request dubs don't nessesarily do it out of "ignorance" but because they find it more entertaining. And entertainment is the whole point of watching anime isn't it? You know what screw it, here's the bat, go beat the dead horse all you like, I'm through...

I remember there was a D present when the Macross was sacking the Mars base's remaining supplies. I've always thought they were similar to the Wild Weasel units or the F-15E.

Are you missing a lot by not watching 7? Yup... It's kind of a love it or hate it thing, I mean personaly I couldn't stand it until the last 10 episodes and I wouldn't have minded it one bit if Basara took a stray XS-06 slug to the cockpit, but hey that's just me. You could feel otherwise. All I can say is go watch it and decide for yourself what your opinion on it is. I just wouldn't go into it with any sort of expectations. Of all the over the top stuff in 7, I do really like the demonic look Kawamori gave the Varuta VFs.

The head looks closer to the VF-2SS than the VF-0S to me... I'm not sure, but I think it's in that DYRL-Macross II mess...
