But what if Bendo starts his podcast again? He gets three hours of material from one post here.

So, I'm a little buzzed right now, and I had a date cancel on me last minute. Basically, I'm bored at home alone. I decided to crunch some numbers like the geek I am. So, here are some pretty sobering numbers on HG's track record over the past 10 years: # of day since "Love Live, Alive" was announced (Anime Expo 2010): 590 / 1.6 years # of days since WB Live action movie was announced in development: 1,618 / 4.4 years # of days since Shadow Rising was announced as being "in production:" (New York Comic-Con 2007) 1,810 / 5 years # of days since Shadow Chronicles was first released on DVD: 1,831 / 5 years # of days since Shadow Chronicles debuted to the public (Mechacon, 2006): 2,009 / 5.5 years # of days since Shadow Chronicles was first announced (Anime Expo 2004): 2,778 / 7.6 # of days since the "New Robotech Series" was announced (Anime Expo 2002): 3,505 / 9.6 years

1985 - 1986, it would have all been "Yay! This Robotech series is great!" 1986-1987, it would have been "Okay, Robotech the Movie is coming out / Sentinels is coming out! / Why can't I see Robotech the Movie?? / I saw it, I live in Texas / When's it coming out?? / I'm in South America, I saw it / Okay, Sentinels is still coming out 1988 - 1989, it would have been "Okay, Sentinels was bad / WTF, why did they only have three episodes of Sentinels? / Well, at least we still have a regular amount of comics and novels coming out" 1990 - 1992 , it would have been "Yeah, there's nothing / No, we have the comics!" 1992, it would hav been "Macross II? WTF is that? And why isn't HG involved?"

Which brings up a good point - the Shadow Chronicles sequel as OFFICIALLY been in development longer than the first movie (or just as long). So in that case, we can expect the 4th Shadow Chronicles movie in... 2030?

StarWars Underworld: Live action series
Darkwater replied to Omegablue's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It gets a little more complex than that. Fox, the network, probably pays only around 1 Million of that while Fox, the studio, pays around 3 million. Fox, the network, make a profit off of selling the advertising time during the show, while Fox, the studio, makes its money down the road with syndication, DVD sales, etc. So while the network might be making a proft, the studio may not be. If they were two different companies, like when Fox runs a show produced by Universval, then the network might care as much if the studio takes a hit. If this series is being produced anything like Clone Wars, then Lucasfilm, the studio, will be paying for it all themselves with no funding or input from the network (whichever network it may be). It's not likley that a network will pay the full 5 Million for each episode, so they're going to have find a way to recoup those cost themselves. Now, if they want to make a full 100 episode at 5 million each, that's half a billion they need to be sure they can recoup. -
If that is the case, it woudl take a loooong time, and it woudln't necessarily have to be be toys, it could be anything with the "Macross" name like comics, DVD's, and KICK-ASS CALENDARS!!!! In fact, I don't think there was any Robotech products (let alone Macross) between 1998 - 2001

Well, he's racist on both of the shows, so there ya go!

Him blaming the Jews for the holocaust was his poltical talkshow, not his Robotech show. His Robotech show is the one where he's homophobic and misongynistic.

I checked his show and they've recently all been about his game mod that he's been working on. I miss the conspiracy theory episodes, and the ones where'd he'd spend three hours analyzing two sentences that Tom Bateman writes in this forum.

I've thought about that, too. The name "Robotech" does resonate with a lot of people (not so much as Transformers or Voltron) which could be used as a selling point to older audiences, but it sounds dated at this point. Granted, since it was originally named after a line of licensed line of model, the original creators were more or less stuck with that name. Even when they made the Invasion game, it looked like they were trying to underscore the "Robotech" title in the cover design

I have no idea how Big West operates, nor do I have an idea on how the Japanese entertainment industry works. That post I made (back in October) was show how HG operated.

It all goes back to what I was saying before about when there's nothing going on, the only ones who are left are the ones putting on the self-reinforced circle-jerk. When I ran my blog, there things going on, stuff getting released, to actually talk about. A movie comes out, a new comic, then BAM, you get people wanting to be a part of the disccusssion. When there's nothing going on, they leave. Those who remain are the obsessed, the ones who are a little bit off. Like Bendo who can talk about the different kind of gun clips on Veritech cannons for six hours straight. When stuff comes out, level-headed people will be drawn to it and say "cool, let's see what else they put out" and leave when there's nothing. It's that lunatic fringe who keeps saying "OMG THIS IS THE BEST AND WE'LL GET A MOVIE AND A SERIES AND TOYS AND IT'LL NEVER STOP!" even after it's clear things are done and washed up. Even the last issue of Protoculture Addicts, when it was still an all RT-fanzine, said something to the effect of "Let's be realistic - The Sentinels was bad, the Movie was bad, let's move onto other things"

dude, that's three examples. Most RT fans, the bulk of the audience, are the casual fans who don't give a crap about any online forums. Harcdocre fans tend to be the fringe. I was just in a Star Trek forum, and I uploaded a picture of my Nook that turned into an Android tablet and made it look like a PADD. The responses I got were "where'd you download it the grapchics, how'd you do that?" Even after I answered, I still got quesetions, like they hadn't heard of Google. Even then, I wouldn't say most Star Trek fans don't know how to use the net.

Not can't, don't. Most of the level-headed fans have said "screw it, this is dumb" when they've realized it's become it 5-year self-reinforced circle jerk with no actual new product.

Maybe, I'm no lawyer, since they've released it on every other medium, and they continue to do so, I don't see why not. It would probably involve a re-transfer from the original source, since the DVD's and online transfers look like they've come from the oringal SD masters. I think the reason Macross II and Plus continue to be released is because the rights have continued to be retained or transferred, and they were obtained legally through the original studios. I don't know about the UK release, but the rights for the US release (Clash of the Bionoids) were obtained from a company unauthorized to sell them in the first place, and those rights have probably never transferred. That could be the case with the UK release, I'm not sure.

Tommy's actually said that HG won't be looking to block the license of this and Macross Plus because of a statute of limitations.

Not to mention kind of frickin scary... remember that guy's manifesto? Here's a quote that makes you realize some people can discern fanboy-ism from reality: link

Now I'm confused, he said he didn't got to Chile for an unofficial convention, but he did, and that's his point? Anyways, the first con was pseudo-official, since it was run by Memo with Tommy's help. Now as far as Bendo, in order to get an explanation from him, you'll need one four-hour podcast where he speculates the reasons why, then a second four-hour podcast where cites all of his previous explanation as fact, completely forgetting that his previous podcast was pure speculation.
