Word. BEN DIXON RULES. (two stabs, just three words). Okay, I'm running, I'm running. (to the shelter) -
Who Honestly Likes The Gerwalk Mode Of Their Vf's?
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
You can always say 'GUARDIAN' mode... **runs for macross city bomb shelter** 383258 LOL. You are one brave man, indeed. The Guardian, er, Gerwalk, would be, in the real world, one of the most practical modes. I think most of the VF's look pretty cool in any mode. Except for the FireValyrie. That battleoid, er, battleoid head is absurd. It's so bad, that, even when you can't see the head (in fighter/gerwalk modes), it still makes the 19 look bad. (The blazer valkyrie is SWEETNESS!). For what it's worth, those are my thoughts. Now, excuse me while I join you know who in the Macross City Bomb shelter. RUN! -
All I can say is Damn.

I agree, the models do look pretty good. The 1/100 kit can also be found for a pretty reasonable price on Ebay because it was reissued not that long ago. If you want the 1/72, be prepared to pay $100+. The Matchbox toys are on Ebay quite often, but if you're going to display it next to a Yammie, it would be like the Mona Lisa next to a stick figure. The Yammies are more of a work of art, and the old Matchbox pods are "toys". Still, they are the only large zentraedi toys on the market thus far.... 380342 I tried to get together with my friend, who makes toys, about 2 years ago or so. I wanted to make a series of 1:48 scale Battlepods. The Matchbox versions are the biggest, about 1:60 scale. My vision was to have the Battlepod include a full scale removeable pilot. The Battlepod I think was a good 6 inches taller than the valkyrie in battroid mode. It was HUGE. But damn, it would have been cool. I will try again to get that toy line going...of course, it depends on my current business doing well, me having the free time, me having the money (creating toys is super expensive), and hoping no one comes after me for copyright infringement. Right now, I have my Matchbox battlepods next to my 1:48 Yamato Valks...and it does not fit...the Yammies are too detailed and poseable compared to the the Matchbox toys. *sigh* Maybe I can get that toy off the ground someday. -Bryan Davis

Just Got My Dyrl Perfect Edition By Fx
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Pervataru's topic in Movies and TV Series
I loved DYRL. It was mindblowing, both when I was a child and as an adult! The series still moves me too. But, I think the TV show was a more compelling than DYRL. Do you remember love, as amazing as it is, feels like a Readers Digest Condensed version of the TV show, which I guess was the point, but it did not have the impact or depth the TV series had. The anmimation however, is the best I have ever seen. I have stills all over my office, and as much as people make fun of me for loving it so much, they all appreciate the intricate artwork. What introduced me to the Genere, however, was Robotech. I have read many fans on this site bash it, and a few who stand for it. Let me say, that for what it was, and the ammount of time Carl Macek and crew had to pull that series together, it too is a testimate of all that is propitious. Robotech will always have a place in my heart, being the first series that I was introduced to. Heck, I find myself still referring to Macross characters by their Robotech names. Robotech is still fun for me as an adult. But as I am getting older, I find myself drawn more to the origial Macross saga over its American counterpart. Macross has more milage than Robotech too. Sure, Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles is due out on the 32nd of this month, but Macross has so many spin offs...and rightfully so. The universe can be endless, there is so much material to explore. Macross TV, DYRL, Flashback, Macross II, Macross II the movie, Macross Plus, Macross Plus the Movie, Macross 7, Macross 7 the movie, Macross 7 Dynamite, Macross 0...(did I forget one?)... I dug Macross Plus and prequel Zero too, although they did not have the same impact or feel as the original. I have not seen Flashback or Macross 7 yet, but I fully intent to when time permits. But, when I do have time, i find myself addicted to these message boards like crack. Looking back, I remember I had a VHS bootleg of DYRL. I watched it so much, I actually wore out the tape! Man, I feel like kid again just thinking about it. I love Macross so much! I know you will love DYRL too. Enjoy it! Watch it over and over again. They say it is impossible to wear out a DVD like I did the old VHS tapes, but damn it, I am going to try. -

Who Likes The Original Macross Music?
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Isoquant's topic in Movies and TV Series
It's dated, just like Robotech's BGM, but they are BOTH exceptional! In fact, they are two of the only soundtracks I still listen to. I love them. But yes, they do get in your head. -
Questions About Flashback: 2012
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Isoquant's topic in Movies and TV Series
That's a great link! I would pay 10 bucks for that! I've never seen Flashback or Macross 7! Can you believe it? For someone who loves the 17 so much...I've heard bad things about Macross 7, and amazing things about Flashback...too bad Flashback wasn't more than an overglorified music video. The VF-4 is one of the most original mecha designs I've ever seen. SNAP! -
Question For All Of Us Tech Junkies Of Macross
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Lightning's topic in Movies and TV Series
The VF-4 is an amazing piece of technology and design, but I don't think it would be very functional without the arm... Although I read that the 17 would be the most acceptable to damage if it lost and arm, and I would have to agree. I think the 4 would be effected, but not as much as the 17. Damn I love the 17. And the 4. I wish Yamato would come out with a perfect varible VF-4. That would be the coolest toy next to the 1:48 1 series. *sigh* -
Anybody Like The Vf-2ss Space Valkyrie 2?
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
For my pennies worth, The VF-2SS is an amazing piece of mecha. One of the neatest designs...more of a DEEP SPACE warcraft...but so sweet looking. The YF-19 and 21 are great too...but, the 2SS is damn sweet. Look at how intimidating it is with the fast packs! Yeah, its a nice addition to the Valkyrie family. -
Minmay In The Transformers Movie
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to kazeofwinds's topic in Movies and TV Series
Its not Minmay, but its fun to think that it could be... By the way, I love Transformers: the movie. It was pretty damn cool listening to the chime of disgruntled adults groan at the 2 swear words and the death of all the iconic heroes. Anyone else remember seeing it in the theater? Man, I feel old all of a sudden. SNAP! -
I am pretty sure it was. Any excuse I can get to check out DYRL.
-
You can say that again... I was just about to complete my 1:48 collection... But, I am very happy there are new macross toys coming out. I feel sad for fans of WHEELED WARRIORS. Nothing new in 20 years. (I was being a bit sarcastic...BTW) MOral is, it is a GREAT TIME to be a MACROSS FAN!

The one with "Ben" in the list, don't you mean kakizaki? I think it should be a thing where he is limited quantity (but not limited edition) Nobody likes him. 379519 My bad, you are right...I keep thinking sometimes I am on a Robotech forum. Kakizaki. He's okay. Not the best, not the worst character. Just a guy who dies in both the movie DRYL and the TV show. That's pretty hard core. I dont know if any of us will die twice. On topic... I am excited for the new low vis 2. And the new armor for the toy. It has really grown on me... Now, only if we can see an official picture... That's when we will know if we are going to cringe, or dig even more money out of our dry wallets.
-
I do like the new armor. But, I wish Yamato would release some 1:48 Valks that the fans really want... 1. 1A TV Max. 2. 1A TV Ben. 3. Elintseeker 4. Ostrich 5. VF-1D 6. Angels 7. 1S DYRL Max That's just off the top of my head. Not to mention a 1:48... 8. YF-19 9. YF-21 10. VF-11 11. Lightening 12. VF-17D 13. VF-17S And, and large scale SDF-1 would be awesome. Say, a 1:750. Damn. I am A.D.D. off topic boy today. Time to get out of here, Robert DeNiro style. More like the way he did it in Ronin than Heat...although, he was more hard core in Heat, he did buy the farm in that fillm. Either way, he doesn't get the chick... and I really need to go. SNAP!

377607 Good call. Or maybe the way they did it in Airheads. You can be Brandon Fraisher. I'll be Adam Sandler. I don't even remember who the third guy was. Damn I feel old.... I feel old, and I have to rob a bank. Thanks alot, Yamato!

THE NAME SAVE ROBOTECH IS OFFENSIVE ? ! ? Wow. You are so right. The name "save robotech" may be offensive to someone, somewhere. In fact, I am sure ANY our names will offend SOMEONE out there in the world. I vote for not using names in our civilized sociotey. What's a name other than a label? But, let us embrace a quote from the holy grail a moment, just for an anaology. "What are we going to call her then, hey you?" -Scott Bernard (That was from show called Robotech, by the way). And, yes, I am laying on the sarcasum pretty thick. Save_robotech is one of three Macross World fans who have constantly bent over backwards to help me out since I joined. Not just me, but countless other acts of kindness to many, many Macross World members. Before you go around pointing fingers at someone's name, ask yourself what ACTIONS have you done to be a model citizen other than POINT FINGERS and cry? If actions speak louder than words, save_robotech is an opera singer and you are mute. Wait...was that offensive? Sorry to compare you to an opera singer, save_robotech. Bryan Davis, out.

Wow. I looked at the pic, and didn't like it...read all teh posts, got to the end, looked at it again, and it really has grown on me. Damn it. I am going to have to rob a bank soon.
-
I would take several of each. I really don't think the LED is nessasary, but I will take several heads for custom jobs any way I can get them. I have a resin 1S head, and it is pretty dope. I traded it off someone here at Macross World (aaajan, I think), and have been looking for others like it since. A recast will do well, I think.

Pay Pal, as an establishment, is the Enron of the Internet community. Anyone who makes a living screwing people out of their money the way they do and not get jailed for it deserves to be put down like a rabid dog. The CEO should be publically decapitated and a flaming rod shoved through his anus. They have screwed me over so many ways I will be bull legged for the rest of my life. But, uh, don't get me started.

I Want To See New Vf-2ss Models And Toys Be Made

I completely agree. Minus the killing part. Just kidding! Or am I? VF-2SS RULES! Well, behind the VF-1, 17 and 4! SNAP! -
Anybody Thinks That Sk Needs To Redesign The Vf-1?
bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
As far as the 0 being an updated 1, well, I think the 0 is a great looking Valkryie, but the 1 is more practical. One, its smaller in size, making it less of a target. Two, the zero was plagued with "fuel issues", something the 1 seldom faced. Three, the 1 just looks meaner than the 0. The 0, although an amazing design, is still an elegant prototype fragile looking fighter. The 1 looks more rock solid, more stable...and I officially feel like a geek. SNAP! -
1/72 Resin Monster Model!

I want one! DAMN! A dream come true! I always wanted a bigger scale Monster! -
Nice. I would buy one. (and send it to my PO box so my gf doesn't find out)

I was never a fan of the joke machine until I saw those pics. That is one amazing toy. The decal sheets look AMAZING! What type of ink/paper do you use to prevent "rubbing" or fading? Any hints you want to share? (I realize it is not the proper forum, but, while we're on the subject...)
