Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)
Raptor One replied to Xx-SKULL-ONE-xX's topic in Movies and TV Series
Not a very good explanation I guess tho. I'll add that his skills throughout the series impressed me and I enjoyed watching him develop as a pilot. He gained a lot of respect from me for being able to put almost evenly match Brera who had the arguably superior VF and all the advantages of being a cyborg. Plus his fight to rescue Ranka when he first used the Armored pack was awesome, the whole emptying the missiles then ejecting the armor piece by piece (as illogical as it was) was pretty badass. I also like his attitude of always trying to take some kind of action even if he has no idea if its the right course or not he was always the type to do something. And watching the interplay between him and Sheryl was a pleasure. I could relate to him as being a kid with multiple interests who was still growing and trying to figure himself out. I guess probably my only problem with him would be how oblivious he was most of the time lol -
That looks amazing! I guess something like that would have been a bit too derivative* to be official though *inb4 "As opposed to the current YF-29?"

Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)

Wasn't that just a practice test zone designed to look like a real city? Either way even though you are right in that they're irresponsible a-holes they still do what it takes to save the day in the end and that, in my eyes, qualifies them as heroes. Depends on your definition I guess. I think I'd vote Alto as my favourite with Ozma a close second. Ozma is the better pilot and the better man, but I can relate to Alto a bit more, and being a young'n myself, Frontier is the only series I watched as it was airing so I feel a bit more affinity for those characters. Max was my favourite when I was younger though, but a lot of that had to do with his colour being blue lol -
Anyone have the old pics of the prototype YF-21?

ZOMG! Playable VF-9!!! Was the VF-9 featured in the other games?
-
Though I don't hate the design (don't love it though) I'm kind of hoping this ends up like the Qan[T] in the 00 movie and only get's like 5 min of screentime. Would much prefer lots of VF-25/27 action

Yea I agree. In fact I don't think the programs acting like humans is that silly, it could just be part of how the human mind interprets the digital world. I just don't think "because Flynn created it" is the explanation.
-
Yea but what I'm saying is that programs were already represented as human in the old world that Flynn DIDN'T create. So the argument that programs look and act like human's because Flynn designed the world that way doesn't work. They looked and acted that way way before the Grid was designed specifically to be entered into by humans. The old Tron world was just a regular (sort of) computer system.
-
That argument doesn't work because when he went to the Tron world in the first movie the programs were already people and he hadn't designed that world, just one of the programs there.

Am I the only one that finds it suspicious that we haven't seen any battroid pics? Looks pretty cool so far though. Definitely a more space-aged looking valk -

I read through most of this thread before looking at the pictures and based on the comments I was expecting something truly hideous. Needless to say I was pleasantl surprised. Can't say it's my favourite VF design ever but I'm looking forward to seeing some more finished and detailed sketches. -
As for recommendations, the 1/72 models are pretty good. They are waaay more accurate and generally look awesome. Only problem is you have to build them and they're obviously more fragile than the DXs 1/100s and Damashiis

Haha wow, completely forgot about Nanase as well.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Raptor One replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
I was having this same problem, but it worked fine in Windows Media Player, go figure -
Watched it with subs last night. It was a lot of fun. The new scenes were really well done, especially the Sheryl/Alto stuff and to a lesser extent the Ranka/Alto stuff. Even that new scene with Michael and Alto lol. Also the scenery was really beautiful, those shots of the country side and the shots of the dome where you could see what was happening outside were really nicely designed. The only thing that felt off to me was that some of the action scenes seemed a bit choppily edited. Like when Alto dives to save Sheryl at the first concert it kinda just cuts from him diving to him stopping with her in his arms. Same thing with when he was falling towards the end and guided the valk to save them. In one frame the cockpit is opening and slowly catching up to them and in the next he's already in the cockpit and syncing with the controls. Also some of the action sequences towards the end were a bit hard to follow. Still pretty epic though. The story seems to have changed a lot so I wonder where they will go from here.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition

Ironically the movie (TV-J Raw plus subs) works best for me in Windows Media Player (after downloading CCCP). It lags a lot in MPC and leaves out some parts of the subs in VLC -

Watching the movie now with the TV-J Raw. Thanks a million! Quick question, who did the subs? -
