Hey, they used some of my bits and pieces SketchUp designs directly in that blueprint!! Too bad its an older outdated version, I don't get why Marketing doesn't co-ordinate with the rest of production?! Gettin' excited, it comes out next year on my birthday too.

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
wm cheng replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Why does everyone hate You Only Live Twice? I loved that, am I the only one? That volcano set by Ken Adams is legendary... stainless steel monorails and central spine cantilevered stairs in the 60s - he's a futurist!! Little Nellie - aw come on, who doesn't want a rocket launching gyrocopter that you can pack up in your briefcase! It perfectly played up the space race of the 60s and the cold war suspicions by the superpowers. Its the most often copied and alluded to elements of James Bond in all popular culture (evil stroking the white cat, flesh eating paranahs, in Japan Men come first...) come on! Ok, I'm off my rant box now... calm down...- 251 replies

THANKS! Exo - are those clear? Do shapeways print in clear? I didn't know the gundam stands come in clear either. They look fantastic! Can't wait. -

Woohoo! Can't wait to see it. Thanks so much EXO! How much do you think it will cost? -
The larger the kit, the more time it takes - because you have that much more room to cram even more detail into it! I don't have the time to build 1/48 scales anymore, I find every time I move up a scale; 1/72 to 1/48 to 1/32, it takes four times longer to build (16 times longer to build a 1/32 scale!) because by then, you need to actually do not just the rivets, but the rivet socket heads too! 1/72 scale is just more forgiving when it comes to fine details. (ie; for landing gear bays, 1/72 scale I'd be happy with the brake lines and major hydraulic plumbing, but 1/48, you'd need all the electrical cabling and tie down loops, but at 1/32 scale, you need the metal manufacturers ID plates as well as all the cabling/plumbing ties as well!). Life's too short!

Oh, I thought it was Kawamori - thanks for clearing that up... maybe there is the slightest thin glimmer of hope afterall... What do you know? Do tell!

A question about using Gundam Stands with Yamato Valkyries

Woohoo EXO to the rescue! I didn't know you designed one of those, for sure I'd jump all over it. You have to walk me through how to order them though, I'm a complete newbie with these 3D printing services. -
The VF-2SS!! That will be my last holy grail-money-is-no-object item... although I don't think Mr. K designed that, so maybe he won't want Yamato to produce it.

Finally got my first Bandai renewal Valkyrie! My VF-25G arrived today - I broke down and got it on "sale" at NY with registered SAL shipping (since I missed out on all the other Bandai renewals). I am very impressed! Now I get what all the fuss is about. Mine came in pretty good condition, a minor dent on the box, but the bird itself seems pretty intact - I have the slightly warped wings which I will heat up and re-bend down a little, but other than that I am very happy with it. Love the poseability in Battriod mode and will keep it in that mode because it just looks so awesome looking down that big gun (and I'm an aircraft mode fan all the way - so that's saying a lot). Has anyone found that it seems somewhat oily, just after playing with it for a little while, I find my fingers leaving oily finger prints all over it and I think its coming from the gun stabilizers, it seems the forward ones have a lot of WD-40 in the joints or is it just mine? I really, really want a VF-25S re-issue with the armour packs now... (now that I know what I'm missing!)

YES! If someone could do a little shapeways 3D printed adapter, I'd buy them! If the adapter could have the larger Yamato hole going into the smaller Bandai peg would be perfect. I don't know if the 3D printed stuff is strong enough though. Right now I cut the Bandai tabs and try to wedge them in between the arms and legs in fighter mode - its pretty good for 1/60 Yamatos - I wouldn't trust them on my 1/48 though. -
I feel for ya, so sorry to hear about that. Hope the damage isn't as bad as it looks.

I guess the clear coat is the key eh? If you were going to clear coat the valk anyways, wouldn't a dull/flat/matte clearcoat be easier to "dry brush" the effects like armor models instead of the glossy future which would have to be dulled down in the end? Great pictures by the way - congrats on the best looking toy collection I've seen!
-
That's phenomenal work MacrossJunkie!! I hope to try to emulate that when my VF-25G finally comes in, but I still don't understand how you get the Tamiya stuff to stick to the slippery plastic. Thanks for the images, I will save them to try and emulate it (its really because of you that I'm starting to collect toys now that I don't have time to build models anymore... you're bad for my wallet!). Do you have of the Yamato 1/60 VF-11B that you've weathered in this way? I'd love to see those too.

That really sucks... although I found that airmail was actually more expensive than EMS when I ordered through NY - weird.
