  1. WoW!!! That looks amazing! Why couldn't they make Macross Sequels like that (instead of Delta!!)

    Bandai DX VF-31

Man! I Love that Orange and Grey scheme!!!
  3. I just wished they didn't keep making more and more joysticks that are specific to only one generation of Playstation - same USB stick, they just want to keep gouging you to buy the same thing over and over again - argh!
  4. Oh man!!! I'm so psyched for this. I just got the PSVR for Christmas for my existing PS4 and have been loving Eve:Valkyrie and the Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR mission to bits! I just can't stand the thumb dualshock controllers to fly, just ruins the whole experience. I sure hope they have a HOTAS setup for this like they did for Ace Combat 5 (BTW, I managed to rig up my old AC5 flightstick PS2 to work in PS4 via Cronusmax and a PC laptop - its a wiring mess, but at least you can fly via joystick) I'm just too old for the thumb gerenation

But you didn't do that for the front part of the windscreen right? So can we skip that part and just go straight to the tint/future mixture without pre-future before the tint?

Hey MJ, with the main canopy, did you coat it first with future, then spray the yellow/orange tint mixture (with future) or did you just spray the mixture already contiaining the 2 drops of future right on the milky plastic without a pre-prep amd the airbrushed mixture took care of the frosting?

Wow that looks amazing! Great work as always MJ. So did you say after the alcohol rub that the canopy plastic was a bit milky? So you dipped it in future... how about the front piece? Did you spray a really thinned/wet Tamiya clear orange to get that tint? I've never found that I could airbrush a satisfactory clear tint (always some pebbling) I always end up tinting a future mixture. Did you just airbrush the Tamiya Clear orange straight on? Yes, the red sensors could be clearer too, I'm just afraid of the alcohol soaking through the Tamiya masking tape and ruining those tiny white warning tampo prints. Thanks so much!!! Unfortunately I already scanned every page - I love having the digital copy to transform with and I could leave my instructions packed away in the box.

Thanks! Can't wait to see you're creation.

Thanks! So did the alcohol strip the black as well? I guess you painted that back in? How about the forward piece, its all together with the red sensors, how did you remove that?

Hey MacrossJunkie, how did you stip the canopy? Did you managed to do the front as well? Is it only a coating on the outside of the canopy or both sides?

Same here, I'm afraid anything that would dissolve or loosen the metallic coating/paint, might craze/fog the plastic further. Their prototype didn't have this stupid frosting - who that it would be a good idea to obscure the canopy?!?

Yeah, even though I dislike the rear gears and hate the opaque canopy - its still gotta be one of my favourite toys - the transformation is so fun and the locks are so satisfying.

Yes, I hate the rear landing gear too, but since the stubby afterthought gears of the VF-25, I don't have any newer generation valkyries displayed with their gears down, they are all in flight, gerwalk or battroid mode (outta sight... outta mind!) The Macross Zero gears are fine, that's the last generation before the rear gears became an after-thought.

I hate the canopy metallic tint too, the metallic flecks are so huge, they'd be 1"X1" squares in real world scale - just such a dumb idea, that foil they used in some of the older 1/60 Yammies would be better (if it didn't flake off - luckily mine are all intact). Why they didn't just tint the canopy like VF-25s is beyond me, I'd like the pilot to see out and I'd like to see in - argh! On a side note, I noticed that they managed to mold the canopy with a slight undercut in cross-section (that omega symbol if you cut through the canopy) without a seam running through the top of the canopy lengthwise. Those of you who have built the Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 Valkyrie will know exactly what I mean - a 3 part mold is required so they can separate the part out. I wonder how they did that here on this toy without the seam?
  15. Any HLJ links yet (Amazon.jp always kills me in shipping & customs!)
  16. No, I think its a painted toy with lights and sound effects. Kind of like the old larger 1/625 Soul of Chogokin GX-58 toy. How long is this Andromeda, seems like it's bigger than the old one, but 1/1000 would make it a smaller toy.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I think mine does that too... although I should transform it back to play with it more to see if it can flatten out a bit - I was just too excited with all the other bits and modes to work everything properly, I didn't want to force anything.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I just did, thanks! That might be just what I needed to get me started on the series again - although if the other episodes don't match up to this level, I'm blaming you

    Bandai DX VF-31

Wow!!! Those super parts look really good on, better than I had expected (hadn't gotten myself to watch the series yet as the first episode with all the little whiny high pitched girly stuff really turned me off) So glad I had ordered them. When do they come out? I just wished the plate over the chest piece in front of the head was longer and more forward to cover the gap in the fuselage. I've always liked the aircraft mode, but the super parts really enhances the Battroid mode even more!
  21. Whoa! Beautiful...

Thanks Duymon, so what do you use to clean up the airbrush with after you're finished with it? MacrossJunkie, so I take it you use the "Acrylic Resin" Matt varnish, is that also "pre-thinned" for airbrush use? What do you use to clean your airbrush afterwards? With these reports of the thin paint app, it makes me want to clear-coat protect these babies even more urgently. I'd like to try these options out on my VF-19 Advanced fast packs when I get around to them. About the VF-31J landing gear doors, they look so small, makes the plane look squat and are fiddly trying to swing the tires out - but most importantly, they don't roll, they roll by them selves, but when I put the plane down on the table, I can't push it. To look plausible, they need to look like they could have some travel so when the aircraft lands, they can retract a bit to take the shock of the landing/aircraft's weight. I do love playing with this toy and transforming it (I haven't even transformed my Arcadia YF-19 since that first harrowing attempt which made me afraid I was going to break or snap something) - its a really fun toy! I really still don't like that frosted/metallic canopy though, aren't you supposed to see though your windshield? They did it on the YF-30 which I hated, and now its even more opaque (wrong direction Bandai!) I wished they just tinted it but still kept it clear like the VF-25s. I also wished the red sensors on the nose was a bit more clear/translucent - the red they used might as well be a paint app. Does anyone feel that the fuselage piece right after the cockpit canopy and before the "big gap" seem just a hair under-sized? I think its this undersize that makes the grey edge on the forward canopy section seem like its fading (because your seeing the white plastic perpendicular edge/face) and makes the gap behind it seem a little larger because its actually slightly undersized instead of being totally flush with the back piece behind it?

Thanks! I wouldn't have known the difference. What version are you talking about MacrossJunkie? I would definitely want to spray it out of the airbrush, so what is the solvent/thinner for the Polyurethane version?

I will try that Vallejo Matte Varnish, its always hard to get a truly flat/matte finish with the future. Does the Vallejo wear as well as the future?
