  1. Your weathered VF-0S looks great! Yes, its amazing how bare the toy is straight out of the box for $400-500. I'd get one on sale maybe, but like you said, its a lot of work.
  2. I know what you're saying, Roy's white, black and yellow scheme is my favourite of all of them too! But it would stand out in my personal collections as I have detailed every one of my toys. so this would stand out like a sore thumb (aside from the exorbitant price tag they are asking for - I always feel ripped off by Arcadia these days, not a nice feeling to have after being parted of $400-$500CAD dollars at a time). I don't mind spending lots of money if it makes me feel good in the end, but its been once too many that I have been disappointed and burned with Arcadia. BTW, its not the reactive armor, it looks fantastic and the price is ok too, its the VF-0S, and I wouldn't be able to just get one, one has to be in aircraft mode while the other wears this pretty armor - so 2 VF-0S is out of the question!

Never new about these Tamiya cotton swabs, gotta give those a try too! THANKS!!!
  4. Yep just can't seem to bring myself to pay those kind of prices for such a bare toy. The fact is that I just don't have the time anymore that Arcadia releases demand of me to bring it up to a respectable display level to match the others in my collection. LOL Aint't that the truth!!! I wished I had a VF-0S to put this baby onto, but never managed to find one at a price I could swallow for what they manufacture. It's a beautiful scheme though.

That looks phenomenal!!! MJ, you did it again, I've gotta try that, it looks amazing. How it should have come from Bandai. Just Tamiya red clear after you took off the crappy Bandai stuff with the alcohol?
  6. Hmm, seems in all these years of technological advancement in molding technology that Revell hasn't up their game from the 80's
  7. That looks fantastic as always MJ!!! Glad you got around to it. I've got to light a fire under my butt to get a few things done too, but the idea of working on multiples do save some time. Everyone one of your toys have looked better and better, you should be proud of a real sense of accomplishment and progression. So have you graduated from the Future clear coat entirely to be replaced with that Vallejo Matte Varnish? Is it as durable as the Future?
  8. WoW!!! That looks amazing! Why couldn't they make Macross Sequels like that (instead of Delta!!)
  9. I just wished they didn't keep making more and more joysticks that are specific to only one generation of Playstation - same USB stick, they just want to keep gouging you to buy the same thing over and over again - argh!
  10. Oh man!!! I'm so psyched for this. I just got the PSVR for Christmas for my existing PS4 and have been loving Eve:Valkyrie and the Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR mission to bits! I just can't stand the thumb dualshock controllers to fly, just ruins the whole experience. I sure hope they have a HOTAS setup for this like they did for Ace Combat 5 (BTW, I managed to rig up my old AC5 flightstick PS2 to work in PS4 via Cronusmax and a PC laptop - its a wiring mess, but at least you can fly via joystick) I'm just too old for the thumb gerenation

But you didn't do that for the front part of the windscreen right? So can we skip that part and just go straight to the tint/future mixture without pre-future before the tint?

    Bandai DX VF-31

Hey MJ, with the main canopy, did you coat it first with future, then spray the yellow/orange tint mixture (with future) or did you just spray the mixture already contiaining the 2 drops of future right on the milky plastic without a pre-prep amd the airbrushed mixture took care of the frosting?

    Bandai DX VF-31

Wow that looks amazing! Great work as always MJ. So did you say after the alcohol rub that the canopy plastic was a bit milky? So you dipped it in future... how about the front piece? Did you spray a really thinned/wet Tamiya clear orange to get that tint? I've never found that I could airbrush a satisfactory clear tint (always some pebbling) I always end up tinting a future mixture. Did you just airbrush the Tamiya Clear orange straight on? Yes, the red sensors could be clearer too, I'm just afraid of the alcohol soaking through the Tamiya masking tape and ruining those tiny white warning tampo prints. Thanks so much!!! Unfortunately I already scanned every page - I love having the digital copy to transform with and I could leave my instructions packed away in the box.

Thanks! So did the alcohol strip the black as well? I guess you painted that back in? How about the forward piece, its all together with the red sensors, how did you remove that?

Hey MacrossJunkie, how did you stip the canopy? Did you managed to do the front as well? Is it only a coating on the outside of the canopy or both sides?

    Bandai DX VF-31

Same here, I'm afraid anything that would dissolve or loosen the metallic coating/paint, might craze/fog the plastic further. Their prototype didn't have this stupid frosting - who that it would be a good idea to obscure the canopy?!?

    Bandai DX VF-31

Yeah, even though I dislike the rear gears and hate the opaque canopy - its still gotta be one of my favourite toys - the transformation is so fun and the locks are so satisfying.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Yes, I hate the rear landing gear too, but since the stubby afterthought gears of the VF-25, I don't have any newer generation valkyries displayed with their gears down, they are all in flight, gerwalk or battroid mode (outta sight... outta mind!) The Macross Zero gears are fine, that's the last generation before the rear gears became an after-thought.

I hate the canopy metallic tint too, the metallic flecks are so huge, they'd be 1"X1" squares in real world scale - just such a dumb idea, that foil they used in some of the older 1/60 Yammies would be better (if it didn't flake off - luckily mine are all intact). Why they didn't just tint the canopy like VF-25s is beyond me, I'd like the pilot to see out and I'd like to see in - argh! On a side note, I noticed that they managed to mold the canopy with a slight undercut in cross-section (that omega symbol if you cut through the canopy) without a seam running through the top of the canopy lengthwise. Those of you who have built the Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 Valkyrie will know exactly what I mean - a 3 part mold is required so they can separate the part out. I wonder how they did that here on this toy without the seam?
  20. Any HLJ links yet (Amazon.jp always kills me in shipping & customs!)
  21. No, I think its a painted toy with lights and sound effects. Kind of like the old larger 1/625 Soul of Chogokin GX-58 toy. How long is this Andromeda, seems like it's bigger than the old one, but 1/1000 would make it a smaller toy.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I think mine does that too... although I should transform it back to play with it more to see if it can flatten out a bit - I was just too excited with all the other bits and modes to work everything properly, I didn't want to force anything.
