Picked Up Volume #4 My impressions of the non-Macross The First Parts In it we have the Klan Klan story. It is a good story because it shows why I don’t like Macross Frontier. Most of the story has the girls in shower. Plenty of T&A shots of the characters. Looks like they drew nipples too and then covered them up with traces of shower steam. Klan Klan is present in adolescent form. Kathy Glass shows up with very small towel. It’s the size of a dish towel. Bobby makes an appearance too. I guess since he’s gay the girls don’t mind. Of course Bobby wears a towel like a girl does. They are talking in the shower. Subject seems to be about Klan Klan and Michael. During the discussion I think Bobby is telling Klan Klan a Scenario in which Alpo and Micheal are shacking up with eachother. Cue dream sequence of Michael and Alpo together. In the end Klan Klan and Michael share a dance and she sees herself in her adult actress form. As for the Series itself, I like the Music and Mecha Designs. There is good animation and a few good story moments. Fan Service is too much. Except for a few scenes/episodes it isn’t that extreme. Problem is even if they don’t go too far in an episode they still provide all the material for the fans to make their own stories up. Stories that are more perverted. They just tease with perversion in the series. You get to see all the characters and themes for something dirty but it never goes anywhere. People making up their own perverted fan works is nothing new. My issue with Macross Frontier is how they are almost encouraging it. These official comics are good example of this. In these comics you get the more serious Macross the First part and then a whole bunch of Frontier based stories. What happens in the Frontier based stories? A whole lot of same sex, underage characters, taking showers, bath, changing clothes, sitting around in swimsuits, crotch shouts, under boobs and side boobs. All the adult “relationships” are there. Michael with underage Klan Klan, Masculine Michael with Feminine Alpo, Experience Lesbian Sheryl with newbie Ranka. Things don’t go anywhere in the official comics. Every time I watch an episode I’m reminded that the series isn’t 100% fan service. Every time I look at a official related product I think it is 100% fan service.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Roy Focker replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Maybe it her way of comprising with you having a toy collection. Actions figures are cheap and makes it look you haven't grown up. They man-doll look like expensive collectibles. -
That LA part is true. Wrong year though it was 1986.
-
McDonald also exists in the Macross Universe (see DYRL?).
-
Exclusives are fine for variants that only appear for a spilt second. I like the Alaska Base VF-1A but it only appears for a second. Max dressed as Zentradi is a fun idea but it only was one scene. If the Toy is based off of something that appears in just about every episode then making it an exclusive is total BS.

I think it is in this section because we all thought Yamato was a Toy Company.
-
Which makes me so made about it. For the sake of agrument, let say Yamato can't sale a completed/painted Regult for less than $200. That's a price that would still make people upset. We would complain that it's just a Toy. By making it DIY kit they can pretend that its something special and triple the cost. By spending less on labor they charge you more for it. If there wasn't so many VF-1 toy before the DIY VF-1 you can bet they would have charged $1000 for it too.

That original Queen Score is awesome. First Movie is awesome too. Yes it is so dated! You can't escape 1985-86 in that movie. The Movie could have been made in any year and still work if some really high quality people are behind it. I seriously doubt the Fast & Furious gang are capable of the that. This movie will look (ten years later) just a dated but totally sucking for all time.

Aren't 3 3/4 action figures in general suppose to be 1/18 scale?

I really don't follow the Super or more Vocal Robotech fan. Click on that youtube link and decided to listen to this Doug Bendo. Like wow! I see why you guy think he's an idiot. He think Wikipedia is a legitimate source. He raves about how inferior the Macross Universe is. How more dynamic the Robotech Mecha and story are. Preferences of taste aside if we judge Macross or Robotech based on its sequels and spin offs. Robotech is "dead". It had the 1985 series, a couple failed pilots and a DVD movie from a couple of years ago. Macross over the last twenty years had a couple of feature film, a few OVA and two full sequel series. Someone with money to invest thinks Macross has been worth while to go beyond a single pilot episode or movie. No one has invested the money yet to pay for a complete Robotech sequel. The Shadow Chronicles came close but it has been 4 years where is part two of the Shadow Chronicles? There's a Live Action Movie but its progress is so slow it is likely in and out of development hell from one month to the next. Worst is the guys irrational hate of Macross. Most Macross fans don't hate Robotech that much. Does he really hate Macross fans that much?

Maybe I'm unfair to the Q-Rau buy comparing it to Princess Leia. How about Scarlett instead. If you Have Duke or Snake Eyes you are more prone to buying Scarlett. Like wise if you have Max you're more likely to buy Milia. They are just natural parings. The basic Regult is perfect partner for any VF-1. I keep hearing that Bad Guys don't sell. Where is the proof in this? I know it's what people say but is there data to back it up? Bad Guy action figures sell good. If we look at Macross Toy alone is there really enough Bad Guy released to show they don't sell well? Q-Rau one red and one blue. Can you judge it all based on just them? How can a Regult toy at the 1/60 scale be too price prohibitive? What advanced toy engineering design would be required? What would be so complex to make it price prohibitive. You don't have to spend time and money figuring out how to store the right leg underneath the Regult in fighter mode because the dang thing doesn't transform. It has just mode. That's it. You aren't trying to figure out how to make three different toys out of one unit. It would be a large hollow piece of plastic with some movable parts. What is their logic? Yamato CEO: How about a 1/60 Regult Toy to go along with the 1/60 VF-1 line. Yamato Toy Designers: We can do it for $150. Yamato CEO: $150? Thats about the same price for a VF-1 with them funky fast packs and armor. That toy also transforms. Can't you do better? Yamato Toy Designers: We'll if we don't assemble or paint the toy, use some modeling material we can market it as an exclusive model and charge $400 for it. Yamato CEO: Brilliant!

I bought a used one last year. Didn't have the money during the first release. I would bought it then if I did have the money. I can afford one of these Regult Kits but not gonna buy it. I collect Toys. I lack the skills and time to do models. I like Yamato cause they made really neat looking toys to display. I want to open the box and have a fully assembled toy. I don't believe in putting in the hard work to build and paint something myself. Especial not for $400. If I pay that much it better be built for me and filled with Cavier inside. For the Q-Rau not being a big seller well. Who really wanted that? Come on its a girl's Mecha. Back in the day there was only Princess Leia and couple of Gijoes. Little boys wanted the male hero and those army builders. The Regult is the Cobra Viper and Storm Trooper. The Q-Rau is Princess Leia that not in a dress with a extra blaster. Only collectors who collect them all would seek the Q-Rau. Every Macross Yamato Collector who owned a Valk would by at least one Regult. Doesn't matter if you preferred the VF-1S over VF-1J over the VF-1A. If you only bought one VF-1 you would have wanted at least one common enemy mecha to go along with it. Instead they are going to sell what? 200 or so expensive kits to some serious model collectors?
-
It is lame. I liked Yamati when they made Over Priced Collector Friendly Toys and not Really Over Price Deluxe Model Kits. A Regultl toy gotta be the easist thing to make. No transforming parts to worry about in the design. Just scale up the Revoltech Regult and add enough weight to the feet to keep it from falling over. The end.

So this is a $400 do it yourself model kit instead of a $150 painted Toy with Pilot and interchangeable missile carrier options?

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)
Roy Focker replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just got back from seeing it. Was a fun movie but the two Iron-Men seemed kinda silly power range type stuff to me. Too many mini-plots in the movie that had nothing to do with the story as they had to do with promote other future Marvel Movies. Thor, Captain America and the Avengers. I do have one major complaint! When ever the actors were wearing the Iron-Men suits they looked about 7 feet tall. Yet in the end Tony is just tall enough to kiss Pepper. -
Last night's episode was the first episode of the series I watched. I don't get it.
-
I transformed it to fighter mode after starting this post. Holds together much better, looks better but takes up more space. In my opinion the Mass Production Type VF-1A is worth it.

A Topic like this is just asking for trolls to bash toys. Please try to keep it under control I started to rearrange my display cabinets. Some of the stuff I barely touch or play with that much. My newest Toys take center stage. Older or just the biggest ones get pushed to the back. During this time I get to handle them again and look at them up close. Unless it breaks right out of the box I rarely have buyer's remorse over pricey toys. These kind of purchases are thought out. Even if I start having doubts on the first day I push those doubts back. If I paid about $100 and there if nothing seriously wrong with the toy I'm gonna make myself love it. No going back now. Maybe after a while it will grow on me. Thought Yamato's VF-1 1/60 V1 were kinda cool at the time. Only got 2 of them. Was really disappointed by the battroid mode. Keep them in Fighter only. Got the 1/48 and really liked them but their size made shipping too pricey for me to collect them all. Saw no reason to get the V2 of the 1/60 VF-1. Starting seeing they were the current focus of Yamato and collectors here. Looked at my V1 VF-1s and thought they do look pathetic in every mode but fighter. I got my large ones. Lets get rid of these V1 and buy just one of these V2. I've since bought several. I am very much aware that some are disappointed with Yamato for the V2. I have had none one those problems yet. All I know is that they still look nice in the cabinets and they are still in good shape after my seasonal play time with them. I know some are hopeful for the new Bandai 1/100 line. I doubt that even they can meet all of our expectations. Time to get to my current years after I purchased them Buyer's Remorse. I'm looking at you Mister YF-19 1/60. Was this the first of Yamato's second attempts? I'm mostly a Macross TV & DYRL fan. The Macross Plus mecha designs are really cool looking high tech Valks but nothing beats the VF-1. I like the VF-11 only because it looks like a upgraded VF-1A with a bayonet. The YF-19 is goofy looking but it great to see it animated. I think I transformed it about 5 times in the first month of owning it and maybe just few times since them. I was handling it again. Besides looking more Toy like in appearance compared to my other Valks the thing is a floppy mess. If I pretend it is taking off flying in battroid mode it is pretty loud on its own without me making sound effects. I don't even have to lift it upside down to have part sliding to undesirable position. When I do turn it upside down it starts transforming on its own. Unlike my current VF-1 1/60 V2 I think I will welcome a new replacement for the YF-19. I'm gonna have to see if I can tighten the joints on ragity Ann-Valyrie.

Am I suppose to have knowledge of boats? This is Macross World there hasn't been a VF-Diggy yet.

My Max TV is my least favorite of my VF-1 Valks. Don't know why. Maybe the blue is a little too dark.
