Roy Focker replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've got 2 a VF-1S me type and a VF-1J Max. -
Now waiting to hear that it's been canceled. Just finished watching JJ season #1. Shame these shows are ending I enjoyed most of them.

Anyone else spend several hours transforming and rearranging their collection to make proper display space for this beast?
-
Too bad Mobile Suit Garfield isn't a real toy.
-
I liked the right side up & down UNSPACY. Sure it wasn't correct but it looked correct in Battroid.
-
2 days later and this toy is still awesome. I just can't stop looking at it. Pictures really don't do it justice.

Okay first impressions review time. I was late to the party on this. I knew Bandai was coming up with a larger scale VF-1 but had no interest in following it's progress. I already have a collection of visually appealing Yamato 1/60 v2 and currently collecting the Hi-Metals. I'm good. I don't need to start another collection. Then I started seeing the pictures posted here. Maybe I should just get one. I missed the pre-order prices but Amazon's prices with shipping was higher than I wanted to pay but not so high I would skip it. Right out of the package it just looked like another Yamato 1/48. Feels heavy but not too impressive. For transformation I just watched a how to on YouTube. I still went slow as all VF-1 are most fragile during this stage. Battroid mode is where I saw the difference. This is the VF-1 of my childhood's imagination. It just looks right. Early VF-1 toys required your imagination to see past their visual flaws. The rest of this review will be comparing it to other VF-1 toys I have. vs Yamato 1/48: I previously stated this about my Yamato 1/48's "The large size is impressive. It is sturdier than the 1/60 v2. You can transform and play with them without fear of breaking something." The DX got the size part for sure. It also feels sturdy. Not as sturdy as the transformation process is bit more complex. More parts more chance of breaking something. vs Bandai Hi-Metal R: No contest! These feel tiny, simple and cheap next to it. The appeal of the Hi-Metal line is their size. It would be impossible or at least too expensive to have collection of all the various types of mecha in 1/48 scale. Hi-Metals VF-1s are scaled too allow this. They aren't perfect but they're just good enough. vs Yamato 1/60 v2: I think may have been just lost the title of best VF-1 at any scale. Appearance wise the v2 is still pretty good but these things are just so fragile. Design similarities with their Yamato 1/48 big brother ends up becoming design flaws when scaled down. I barely touched them through the years and I've got cracks and floppy parts. I haven't gotten any 1/60 made by Arcadia. Have they made improvements to this toy? It needs a v3 or a v2.5. It doesn't need a complete remodel just a few improvements. Final thoughts. Side to side torso movement is good to have but the toy is more stable with the leg bar connected and that's how I'll keep it. Features like wing flaps always sound cool but ever since the Yamato 1/48 will just be a hassle. Even though I rarely display missiles on any of my VF-1 I would prefer missiles over 2 display stands. Why 2 stands? What a waste of plastic. This toy is the toy you have to get. You need at least one of these as main display piece. If they make more I'll have to collect them under the same guidelines I had for the Yamato 1/48. Don't collect them all! 1/48 scale makes things too expensive and takes up too much space for me to collect them all. I'll buy a single of each variant. I already have Hikaru's VF-1J so I won't buy another VF-1J of a different color. Getting one of nearly every release is something I keep for my Hi-metal collection.

3 days over the weekend shipping and mine's here. Too bad I'm not at home to unbox it.
-
Mine too with an eta of Monday (pretty sure it will arrive during the 2 hour window when nobody is home) I know I'm paying a higher mark up for missing the pre-orders but man Amazon got some great shipping prices. I usually choose SAL registered when going with the usual web shops as it pains me to pay over $20 in shipping just to get something a week earlier. Amazon is going to ship this jumbo size toy over the weekend for only $11? Everybody else would charge me like what $50?
-
For those like me who ordered from Amazon after it was released did they charge your credit card yet? Placed my order 3 days ago and no charges on my card yet.
-
And I've got one coming my way .
-
All colors of plastic is prone to yellowing. It just more noticeable with bright white.
-
I totally slept through this. Guess I'll pick one up later eventually.
-
I finally got both of them. Robot mode looks great but very limited movement. Think I'll keep them in bike mode.

The Mods don't want to be forced to have to care about this. Understand?

[Rumor] Hasbro Canceling G.I. Joe toyline?
Roy Focker replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They haven't release new product in years. The club isn't going to be making anything so the line is pretty much dead. Hasbro has provided very little support to it. They are working on a Snake Eyes movie. I'd expect them to bring back the toys for the movie release. -
After nearly an extra week of shipping time Stick is finally here! No wait. No mail today.

The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread 2
Roy Focker replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I bought a WWE game for my PS4. I don't know 90% of the Wrestlers on it. I'm so out of touch. 20 years ago I knew who everyone was.- 715 replies

Even though both Ray and Stick arrived in customs on the same day. Ray was delivered yesterday and Stick is still in customs or in some mail truck. Going wait for my next day off before I attempt my first transformation.

The 1st MIB movie was fun and interesting enough. Sequel I think I remember watching half of it on TV. By that time I had already lost interest. I think there was another sequel and now a new sequel with a different cast? Trailer does feel like an MIB movie. Like it belongs in 1997. This just seems so dated. Maybe if they dressed them up all as space Vikings it would seem more current. These are good actors it would be nice to see them in something slightly more serious.

Not that impressed by their VF-1. Maybe because there's already like a hundred companies that already made it. Hardly anybody makes figures and these prototypes look very promising.

Hey I'm the one who merged them. Did it quickly with a single click. Please try to keep this all to one topic. Repost it under a new topic if you have to.

I ended up getting charged from CD Japan in advance so no jumping ship for a better deal for me.

Both of my bikes have been shipped today by Ami Ami in two separate packages now to see if they're both delivered on the same day.
